  • In this episode, Tim and Jon talk about the glory of God and what it means for humans to glorify him. Does glorifying God simply mean singing songs or acting a certain way? Why is God so interested in his glory? This all connects back to the image of God. The glory of God is one of those terms that is thrown around a lot in Christian culture, but what does it really mean?

    My faith is being tested. I’m so weary. But I will continue to trust in God. I get put down and harassed by fellow christians for sharing my testimony. I only share for prayers and encouragement. Please pray for me. Since covid I fell on a terrible hardship, like many others. I lost my job for declining the vaccine. I declined due to my health conditions. I suffer from lupus, and heart disease. I’m now waitressing but not making nearly enough to get by. I’m a single mom, my husband is with God. My children are autistic and non verbal, I’m overwhelmed because they demand so much from me. I recently started homeschooling them because they were having so many issues in school. I’m tired of struggling every month. I’m striving to afford the tools I need to homeschool my children but I’m falling short. But I trust in you Jesus even as I struggle providing groceries for my family I’m ashamed. I feel like a failure. Jesus hear my prayers. Prayers are all I need. Thank you Lord! I know you will provide! Faith over fear!

      Don't lose heart the Lord God Jesus Christ shall be with you and strengthen you throughout all trials and temptations. It the devil's will that we fall away from faith but it is God's will that we endure to the end. The Lord Jesus Christ is compassion and caring and will reward us in the coming New Age for every pain and trouble that we suffered.
      (Romans 8:35-37) Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
      As it is written, For your sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
      No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Christ who loved us.
      (Matthew 5:3-9) Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
      Blessed are those who mourn: for they will be comforted.
      Blessed are the merciful: for they will be shown mercy.
      Blessed are the pure in heart: for they will see God.
      Blessed are the peacemakers: foe they will be called children of God.
      I pray that the Lord God Jesus Christ be with you and hear you. Amen 🙏

    I have an amazing story. One day I was driving home and I felt the presence of the Lord, come down to me from above. It was as real as anything and I felt so comfortable with Him.
    I knew if I asked Him to play a song on the radio, He would.
    So I said "Ok Lord, play Come as you are..."
    I didn't know what station it was on or anything, but I turned the radio on and the song started playing right on the spot, perfectly...
    I started getting flooded with chills inside, trembling, and crying tears of joy. When I got home, He stayed with me for 10 minutes till I got out of the car.
    I've been getting amazing prayers answered for around 5 years since, because that experience made me stop doubting when I pray, and I follow Biblical instructions, best I can.

      @@mindonthingsabove I had decided I would pray every day for God to give me a tangible testimony, till it happened. About 8 months or so, of praying for it at least once a day, it happened.
      I wanted to know I was doing good for the Lord, (not that we're saved by good works) and wanted to help lead people to Christ/strengthen peoples faith.
      So that's how God answered and to me personally I think it's truly tailor made for me, and I adore Him and think it's just so awesome.
      To back it up though. Awhile after that happened, I was watching a preacher on CZcams and I felt this compassion come over me by the Holy Spirit, I believe.
      So I prayed for him. "Father, double this man's ministry. Double his finances. Double his marital life, in Jesus holy name. Amen."
      The next day he released a new video. He was standing on stage for a bit, smiling. Then he said "The Lord has just doubled his ministry. He's doubled his finances and He's doubled his marital life...!!
      My heart started pounding from shock, because he was saying my exact prayer from the night before.
      Then later that week another prayer just as impossible was answered. It went on and on like that for months. It still happens, but, I have less stories because I quit praying for myself.

    I am your follower Mr. Mackie. And this episode asked me questions when the Holy Trinity became to began. Now I know Thanks to you. First I have the question where is the Trinity before Jesus? It come to my mind that Jesus was the Son of Man. But God existed before anything. Then He created Light from His Holy word. Then His Spirit created the stars moon and the Sun, then the Earth plants trees land and seas. His Spirit was glorious. Then He created man and woman in His own image which the Trinity became whole. The Father, The Man and The Holy Spirit to RULE Eden the World. but Man got tempted to eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge and became sinful. God punished Man it was really tumultuous time. In the time of Noah, he made earth anew, He reset the world. His people scattered all over His Creation, from the Holy Land to Asia and every where else. His people oppressed each other and He chose Moses to separate them and favored the oppressed and establish Law to the Prophet Moses. They still did not follow the His Law with very lenient way so He sent other prophets, Angels and prophets predicting the coming of His Chosen one the Son of Man, a descendant of Adam, Abraham, and David which is God the Son, Son of Man, Jesus. Establishing the Holy Trinity again. No pun intended but St. Mary is virgin sinless and Holy. God knew about the Chosen Mary and sent His Angels to announce the Good News to her and she conceive God her fruit. Many trials and temptation, and miracles Jesus performed and the adversary tried and tempted Jesus in the desert and He resisted him and perform other miracles. Then man tried Lord Jesus and severely tortured and tormented Him Jesus is the word the chosen and saved us from original sin and all His people from sin and He will save us again. God the Father, Jesus God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, His Spirit, His Angels and His Saints especially St. Mary and St. Joseph, are All Glorious.. This is the Nicene Creed, Lux, which is Light, et Origo, origin and Credo, creed and beliefbecame. No pagan belief but it is old Catholic belief Bless God and God bless the Bible Project.

    • @racksityentertainment
      @racksityentertainment Před rokem +1

      In the Bible, God seems like he can create ex nihilo … humans can’t. Not sure about this vision
      The theory I will share here seems more convincing in my opinion:
      In biblical scripture, we see other deities being worshipped as idols. Idols are the images of the foreign gods. For the biblical supreme god, images are the believers themselves. In another way as idols are agent of manifestation of the false gods, believers are supposed to be agent of manifestation of Yahweh. That’s why idolatry and making images of God is forbidden since the believers are supposed to be the living image of God.
      With this idea, imago dei is being a representation and agent of manifestation of God.
      What you think about that idea? Soit would be not about creative ability but about acting according to his will, being like the extension of God.

    I really resonate with this understanding of how the word "Glory" in English carries with it a bad connotation.. in fact that was the main thing I had against the "eternal singalong" vision many people have of heaven, that it just seemed so petty and vain for God, to create an entire universe just to stroke His ego forever telling Him how great He is. Like is that what my entire life boils down to? Stroking a cosmic narcissist's ego? It makes me depressed to think about. But this is a better way of understanding it, even the words having different etymologies conveys so much. Because that's how it appeared to me "glory" is just.. praise and stroking ego and just.. you know, it's in the bible that God glorifies in people's infirmities right? So if the word "glory" as we know it in English is applied, then God is using our misery to puff up His esteem and that just seems so selfish and awful. But with the other word, that it meant how much they matter and importance it's got an entirely new connotation that makes that suffering and misery matter, in the "glory" sense it's just God can brag about people suffering for His sake. But in the Hebrew word etymology these people's suffering matters to God

  • @thotsaboutGod
    @thotsaboutGod Před rokem +1

    Though the word glory is not explicitly used In the Genesis story, isn't it implied? When God tells us to rule, be fruitful and multiply, arent we imaging forth and thereby glorifying God? If so the concept of glory is implied in the beginning via our being in His image.

    6:43 IMO imago Dei communicates humans were created as representatives of the Creator. An ambassador carried the name, honor and power of the king. He had a ring with the king’s image on it that was used to sign a treaty committing the king to honor his support to the other kingdom. To “Glorify God” means to represent Him to other kingdoms.

  • @racksityentertainment
    @racksityentertainment Před rokem +1

    I’m still not convinced about the « every humans are imago dei » idea…
    To support my point of view, I have two thoughts:
    First
    Biblical narrative is about God electing some people
    In genesis it started with the couple chosen amongst other humans, Adam and Eve. Then Noah’s Family, then Abraham’s tribe, then Israel as a country which culminated with the New Covenant for a global call.
    There is no evidence Adam and Eve represented the entire humanity or are viewed as the entire humanity ancestors in the Bible (cf, Cain being afraid of some other humans).
    Second point
    Enemies of God or of his children aren’t viewed as imago dei. This is most obvious in ancient testament with for example Israel’s conquest of Canaan. Destroying cities, killing everyone.
    If the Bible is a coherent inspired scripture, this type of depiction of God’s will should be brought in the same light.
    Fell free to answer and let’s discuss it.

    • @alexismarotte2680
      @alexismarotte2680 Před rokem

      The Biblical narrative is about more than God electing people, though this is a theme. Also, we are/were all enemies of God, but we are also all imago dei. It's how we all can rightfully be brought to judgment before God on the Day of Judgment, because we each have a role to fulfill as reflecting God's image in his Creation. I think we can agree that plants and other animals are definitely not "imago dei", but there is also no divine expectation that they follow Christ, repent of sin, or be filled with the Spirit.
      But what led you to believe that Adam and Eve were but two among other humans made by God?

    Overall, I enjoyed this podcast and the discussion of kabod. However, I was a bit disturbed when I began checking references and found that the first illustration you use of the root word (kabed) as weightiness is King Eglon in Judges. 18:06 But the word kabed is not used anywhere in that text. Eglon is described as a very fat man (ish bari meod). Not sure why you felt the need to shoehorn this idea of heaviness into that text. You could have just as easily referred to the heavy hail of Exodus 9 or the heavy yoke of 1 Kings 12:4. Eglon could have been described as kabed but he was not.

      @@HearGodsWord The Creator and Messiah's name isn't in your native tongue. Yahuah and his Son Yahusha are set-apart names...By you not using their proper names, you are bringing yourself to destruction...
      Shalum...
      BTW what's your god's name?

      @CarlWilliams The Bible wasn't written in English, but it has been translated. That has spread His word rather than destroying anything.

    I’m commenting on the hypocrisy of The ‘Bible’ Project itself, which by definition is supposed to represent what the Bible itself, says. The Bible says clearly in Leviticus 18:22 ‘A man shall not lie with another man as with a Woman, that is an abomination’, that homosexuality is sin. God doesn’t hate people, no, what he hates is sin, because the wages of sin is death. Sin will kill you. God stands for LIFE. Then, Jesus himself talked of a literal hell starting from Matthew 25:31-45, where Jesus describes what will happen on Judgement day, when he himself separates people onto his Right and onto his left. Those on Jesus’ Right will go to heaven, those on Jesus’ left will be thrown along with the devil and his demons into the lake of fire. And yet, we see Mr. Mackie of the ‘Bible’ project, contradicting the very Bible he says he represents, and actually, contrary to Scripture Mr. Mackie endorses homosexuals and denies reality of a literal hell. The Bible Project, doesn’t preach about what the Bible says, but actually, preaches against the Bible. Stop using the name ‘Bible’. You at the Bible Project DO NOT stand for Jesus Christ, but Satan, whose end is the lake of fire. You at the Bible Project, ask God to forgive you of your lies, and ask Jesus to be your Savior and turn from your lies.

      Shame ! We are to NOT JUDGE others! You have condemned yourself to the very same hate that KILLS ! There is no way to God for someone who does not work for the peace and harmony in the kingdom of God.

      You don't have any light in you if you condemn followers of my LORD. God has a plan for us . We each have work to do. Do not judge, or be judged.
