No scope in India .my brother did aerospace engineering from IIT Kanpur but at last went to oracle (a software company) with a package of 17LPA leaving behind his interest in aeronautics!! Think before you take that branch,If money is your priority then choose CSE,MnC,EE/ECE!!!Hope it helps !!
@Anand aerospace engineers have a bright future, I agree that at present, in India, it's not good, but the new scheme has opened an ample number of opportunity for us. And the most important thing is Aerospace engineering is very good at IIT Guwahati, placement is also high I know coz I live near IIT Guwahati .

No you can't, mechatronics is only elligible in ISRO and they are saying that there are lot of opportunities for mechatronics in govt sector and truth is that govt sectors not even consider mechatronics , I'm also facing elligibility issues

Speaking from experience. The degree is to new to the field so a lot of companies don't understand it yet unless you really explain it to them because they will ask. If you're already in the Automation field it'll help tremendously to get an engineering position. I'm in HVAC Controls so a lot of the skills learned transfers.
