- Replace air compressor on 2008 Freightliner Century Detroit 60 series. The compressor is heavy and takes some working around to get in and out. Also fuel pump has to be disconnected so fuel system will need to be primed.

very good video. I would not have been confident in replacing air compressor without watching this video. But I would like to add some information for anyone watching this video that I feel will greatly improve the process. You do not have to remove the power steering pump to align gears. I had some guide studs that i used for installing my exhaust manifold (J-36107 Exhaust Manifold Guide Studs). They are an exact fit for bolt holes. If you put three of these in you can slide compressor onto them and if gears are not perfectly aligned, slide compressor back, rotate gears a very little amount and it will go right in. I hope this trick helps someone to have a very efficient replacement of their air compressor. It took me a while to get everything off but install was a breeze. I weighed my compressor and it was 59 lbs, so you will need a little muscle to get it out. Dont be intimidate, you can do it and save a bunch on labor. good luck
Great points you added and I totally agree do it yourself build confidence and best of all save alot of money. And ya that thing is heavy and in an awkward positione
Thanks for the comment happy to help 👍

Great Video!
Thanks 😀
Can i put the spider gear in from the power steering pump side. If i forgot to put it in when i was installing the new engine compressor. Will it slide all the way threw.. thanks dont want to pull compressor if i dont have to..
Yes you can. this is actually easier that way instead of trying to line the compressor up with power steering gear
Do you have to put truck on timing? Or just pull it out and realign the gears? Thanks in advance!!
Just pull out and put it back in realign the gears 👍
Hey man great video but where do you get that gauge, or any gage will do?
Any gauge with a rubber nipple on the end cone shaped that will seal will work
Is there another way without taking off the power steering pump to line up the gears ?
There is no other way besides removing air compressor which is way bigger pain to do
One way to fix it is to add some wd40 and let is sit for 30 min.
Any air gauge you used for that?
I used one that I borrowed from my mechanic as long as it fits in the top opening you can tell pressure coming out.
Is there a gasket required?
I dont believe I pulled one off but some rtv might not hurt
how many bolt has the air compressor to lose?
I'm not sure...
What is the part number?
