I too LOVE the characters- but that said, I admire Lois' world building very much as well
The characters are brilliant, but I must say that the worldbuilding never seems flimsy or false, the worlds are always very natural, very fitting.
So, while the worlds don't outshine the people, the worlds support the stories wonderfully.
I have read almost everything Lois McMaster Bujold has written, and have to say they are always good-great-fantastic, always worth the money.

    Thank you for this interview!
I met Miles in the mid-1980s, through my father's Analog magazines. I sort of grew up in parallel with Miles, sharing these with my father. The last thing we read together, before the pandemic, was with Pen and Des. I read it to him, as he'd lost the ability to follow a story on his own when reading, due to dementia. He was very fond of Pen and Des, because he recognized them as friends to each other (and to him), and friends were always important to him, more so as his memory faded.
He died in a nursing home with dementia, from COVID, in early 2021. I am very glad I could continue to share these stories with him through virtual visits, and that he had such pleasure from the time he spent with these friends.
Thank you for your writing. It was a bond between me and my father for decades. And I still think of him when I go to re-read.

A strong and wise woman! Low bow, for incredible books 🇺🇦! The Saga of the Vorkosigans is a masterpiece; a unique thing is an attempt at a multipolar view of the values of civilization

This is a good interview. Sadly, although I fancied writing fiction since childhood, storytelling never came naturally to me, and I’m probably too old to start now. However, if I tried it, I think I'd find this interview educational and helpful on the subject of the writing process. I know that different processes suit different writers, but the process described here is clearly one valid way of doing it; and it has produced a whole bunch of books that I’m fond of and reread regularly.

P.S. That song the Lakewalkers sang about two lovers made me wonder if Dag and Fawn would fulfill that prophesy, if prophesy it was.
