    I do not drink alcohol but the entire process is very interesting, including bottling, it seems like a great family project, and thank you for sharing.

      Hey Daniel. Thanks for hanging in there for these. We always think of you guys knowing you still watch even when it's not your thing. It was a great time with Austin and his girl Nikki. As you know, they grow up quick and become adults that are just fun to be around.

    What's the sanitation process for that many bottles?

    • @HealthyFarmLiving
      @HealthyFarmLiving  Před 2 lety

      We use sodium metabisulfite mixed with water to sanitize them. You can typically find it in 1 lb bags on Amazon and I can link one for you here that we use;

      As for the actual process, we use a turkey baster to put the solution in the bottle, swish it around several times before dumping it, dip the opening of the bottle one additional time in the solution and then set them under a clean cloth until we're ready to fill.

      Hey Abid! I completely understand not partaking in alcohol. The reality is, you're going to be healthier for it!

    Are the wire top style bottles useable instead of cork?

    • @HealthyFarmLiving
      @HealthyFarmLiving  Před 2 lety

      Are you thinking of something like a growler with a wire top? I imagine they would do fine. Those are designed to hold in carbonation which you won't have with wine, but it will serve the function of keeping oxygen out which is the primary goal with wine.

    Not interested in wine as a recovering alcoholic.

    • @HealthyFarmLiving
      @HealthyFarmLiving  Před 4 lety +1

      Oh yeah, no. That is nothing to mess with. We'll have a few of these as it's part of what we produce from the farm, but something else you may want to avoid that we talk about is Kombucha. The amount of alcohol in it will vary depending on how it's fermented, but it's there one way or another. You're probably already aware of that, but just wanted to make sure.

      @@CraftEccentricity oh man, that is cool. We've canned some chicken in the past, but haven't done it in years. We need to get back on track with that.

    How long were your wines fermenting ? 😊

    • @HealthyFarmLiving
      @HealthyFarmLiving  Před 8 měsíci +1

      We usually let them settle in the secondary for at least 2-3 months before bottling. From there we try to let them age for another year. Key word there is "try"! 😉🍷

      Not sure if we'll head down the licensing route to sell these, but we may have some of these available to sample on future farm tours.
