- Where did Leonardo da Vinci spend the last years of his life? Why in Amboise, France. This incredible city on the Loire River is a must see for anyone wanting to visit the best area for French Chateaux. The Chateaux of Amboise has incredible views, the tomb of Leonardo, and period pieces throughout. The Château du Clos Lucé has an incredible collection of Leonardo da Vinci's works. The city also has an incredible food scene and easy access to a number of chateaux in the Loire Valley.

I loved re-living this trip. We had such a great time as a whole family going to Amboise. The grandparents had fun, we had fun, the kids had fun. Really a nice town to visit with plenty to enjoy and you will eat so well there as well.
This makes me miss France so much. One of the best European countries ever.
Wow merci!
So happy! I literally grew up 45 minutes away from Amboise!!!
Absolutely beautiful! It's one of my favorite places to visit. Thank you, for all the great content you have made available to all of us!!!
My goodness, this place is gorgeous! I never really heard of Amboise until this video and immediately, the scenery struck me. Definitely hope to return to France one day and if I do, I'll be sure to pay a visit to this place.
it is a GREAT location to visit the greater Loire area as well
This is one of my favorite places in France. The chateau is so very interesting and the gardens are impressive. DaVinci is one of those people I'd love to share a dinner with and have a long conversation with him. It has a gorgeous hotel at the base on the chateau facing the river. I wish I could remember the name of it. It will come to me at about 3 a.m. lol.
Looks beautiful. Thanks for introducing us to new places!
glad we can give you some new spots to plan for :)
@@woltersworld wasn't expecting a minions appearance! Seriously though. Looks amazing
Always appreciated your videos. Your kids seem to enjoy those family trips. Going to that area of France next month.
Good video. I spent my youth in Amboise and then i live next to it. There are also some very good balloon rides.
That is an incredible place to grow up. I am jealous!
So beautiful! Absolutely love your family and your videos are amazing! So worth visiting this area in France!
I was there for an afternoon and desperately want to go back and have it as our base. So beautiful. We were there in November 2015. I miss France so much.
Fairytale place, beautiful views over the river, castle... Amazing to visit, for sure! 🏰🌼👑💕
Such a great, and very walkable, little town. I spent a weekend there and absolutely loved it.
Excellent thank you
Thank you for the info!
Great Video, Good information. Thank you.
Great video. Was planning my next trip to France with Amboise as the base. You have helped confirm that it's the right place to do that. Thanks.
Love it, thank you for the video!
Thank you
Thank you for sharing your original professional video! Very, very good!
thank you Carol
Yess.... new video. I love your videos... and your demonstration.
thank you Dawson!
Great video ! Didn't know about this town ... Everything Leonardo-related is so fantastic ! But please, check the pronunciation of the towns (in Wikipedia e.g.) before you make a video ;)
Wikipedia, or pronunciation-dedicated websites like forvo.com.
For instance: forvo.com/search/Amboise/fr/
(NB: the "fr" visible in the link stands for "French pronunciation", not for the language in which the webpage will be displayed).
Nice coverage... I'm French and never knew Da Vinci died there
Vraiment ? C’est pourtant assez connu
Thanks Mark. Your video awoke pleasant memories, as I partly grew up in this nice city area. Moreover, each of your already nice videos is still more enjoyed as travels are somewhat discouraged/restricted, when not banned altogether (most of us, even living in France, would not be allowed to go to Amboise at the moment, as we can't go more than 100km from home).
I'm looking forward to see you and family travelling again. Stay safe, have fun.
The "se" at the end of Amboise is not silent. It's not "ambua" but rather "ambuaz"
I agree with you, though like any language sometimes people drop the last 25% of a word lol. Having been in France a few times it can happen too.
@@LokiYD yes, I know. I was raised in France. But not in this case. The "e"is very soft, the "s" has a "z" sound, but not completely silent.
Went there on a school trip. Nice place.
Great video. Now that most of our travel is going to be driving / local, this is a strong contender for an upcoming trip. Thanks for all the tips and good to see the family 😉 Hi to you all.
Hey A. Its really a nice place. I was really missing it when I was editing this video. I would go back in a heart beat
Spent three weeks in the area and visited Amboise a number of times. Very enjoyable. When are you doing another live segment?
We took a train from Paris to Amboise. The train lets you off in Amboise right across from the bridge shown in the video. You just have to walk across the bridge and you’re there.
Amboise is beautiful! I also had the best meal I've ever eaten across from the chateau... there is also a Mona Lisa that you can see up close, unlike at the Louvre.
i was going to put that mona lisa in the video :) just ran out of spots
No worries, we had an amazing trip and your advice really helped!
Go visit montlouis sur loire là !
Oh sure, you review this place AFTER we visited it. We didn’t know what to do since you hadn’t posted a video about it! 😂🤣. We worked it out though ;-) . We obviously love your content.
Too funny. It is a great place, isn't it?!
@@jocelynwolters293 its beautiful! We did the self tour of all of the chateaus. We actually stopped/stayed there on our way to Bordeaux because of your recommendations from the Normandy video.
I like the Loire Valley a huge amount. But, after the first five chateaux they do blend together. Same for the great cathedrals. Overload. But, a favorite area. On my last trip there I was also in Normandy to see the DDay sites. I was so happy to be there to walk Omaha Beach, see a DDay museum, walk the American Cemetery.
I am completely with you Jane
If you are fascinated by houses in caves, you might want to check out Matera. Thank you for the video :-)

Hi Mark. I hope you would make a video about "accommodations post-quarantine.
"
We have the script ready. Was hoping to put it out today but haven't gotten it filmed yet.
@@woltersworld Will wait for that :)
Mark, do you have a Curaçao video or a Thailand video ready for upload? Heading to Curaçao in August, and Thailand over the holidays. (I've already seen "The don't(s) of the Caribbean" video)
we were in Aruba and I have those videos to put out, but though it is close to Curacao it is very different fro curacao, so sadly i do not have any videos :(
I was with my girlfriend Belinda in France also in Amoise in1986
How do we get from Paris to Ambroise by train? Our first trip to France. Please.
Ever been to Brest?
Am-bwaz...dude, take a beginning french course!
For obvious reasons, we can conclude this video is not recent. For the sake of transparency, please include the accurate time/season/year in your videos. I was there April, 2019 and watching this video I can see things/signs etc. missing on buildings...
It's ok to pronounce the R in Loire and S in Amboise.
Wait! We can fly again?
This was filmed pre-covid
Wolters World ok cool😉
Luh-war not Lwah! for Loire
Great video but…it is Am-bwahse as opposed to Am-bwah.
France opened there borders
A sunny day would have been better
why in us is not ok to smoke evan if its ok to do drugs.
Smoking is legal if you are an adult but frowned upon. Drugs are illegal except for Marijuana, which is legal some places. (but not all)
Amboise. Pronounce the se. zzz
It’s Amboize! You could make an effort to pronounce the town correctly!
Mark are you losing weight? Your face looks thinner.
