    Thanks for putting in the work!
    BTW, the Ohuhu stove fits perfectly inside an MSR 775ml stowaway (wide) pot, so it takes up no extra space in your pack. Also, it's a TLUD (top-lit updraft) stove. Pack it full of twigs like a can full of upright pencils and top it off with a little tinder and a Vaseline cotton ball. Light it, come back in 5 minutes to a roaring flame. Boil your water in ten minutes and you still have 10-15 minutes of simmering left. No fire maintenance or feeding needed once lit. It's still heavy but once you dial in a setup like the above, it's low hassle. Also, I've used a computer fan grill to hold small pots on it. The grill easily fits inside the stove.

    BEST STOVE REVIEW I'VE SEEN!!
    I have watched so many review video's and this one is so direct, simple, on subject, clearly spoken, fast ( not a bunch of side tracked bs ) Good quality video/audio and close up examples of how each goes together works and breaks down. Excellent job.
    Plus, I Love the fact that you edited the parts that wastes my time, like lighting the fires, collecting wood etc.
    You sold me on the small Lixada stove, it's the one I've been looking at.
    A+

  • @notquiteultralight1701

    I’m an emberlit guy all the way! It’s not finicky. Light a fire, put pot on, cook, eat. Done. I have the stainless steel one for carcamping and the titanium for backpacking. I’ve tried quite a few of them and i like the emberlit. It’s also American made and the founder of the company is really cool! The customer service is top notch. Great comparison vid👍🏼

    Great comparison video, I bought the Lixada from Amazon and found that it finally came with cross sections very similar to the Emberlit, which made it very stable for canteens/cups, and at only about 14 pounds. Thanks for sharing.

    I always keep a piece of 1/4” grid hardware cloth with each of my stoves. Just set it on top of the stove and it will safely support smaller pots and cups. It's flat, so no worries about bulk. Nice video!

    On the round wood gasifier stove you can flip the pot supports to the centre and it then it balances a much smaller pot really well. I also find that filling it and then lighting it from the top is more efficient. I have also just got a Titanium version of the Emberlit from AliExpress and looking forward to trying that out.

    • @kwhatten
      @kwhatten Před 6 lety

      Yes, and fyi, Lixada makes a similar round, 2 chamber (gasifier) stove with a fuel entry cut out and a better pot holder.

    • @joespawldin7833
      @joespawldin7833 Před 5 lety

      Yeah the gasifier is a stove that you just need common sense to use.its a damn good stove if used right.but its not idiot proof lol.i prefer wood gas stoves.as a back up anyways.nothing has beat my svea with the sigg tourest base and pot kit yet.but while the sigg has a wood burning configuration its more or less a hobo stove.wood gas stoves just seem to be a more efficient style.and if i wanted to my svea burner will drop in the ohuhu well and so would a trangia.and fuel tabs will work as well as the wax and wood chip pucks and buddy burners.the versitility is there.just have to know how to use it lol.

    I chose the Lixada folding stove you showed at 1:50 for its ability to fold flat and it has the cross bars to support even a small can or cup. The Ohuhu seems like it might be able to cook with the least amount of wood, but that is not usually a problem.
    Thanks for the review it looked really good.

    Nice review mate. 👍
    I have a version of the woodgas Ohuhu made by Livada (£18) and also the much more expensive foldable Bushbox.
    I love both and find they work excellent in their own way.
    The woodgas stove stove can be loaded up and because you light it from the top and the wood burns downwards so it can last a good 1/2 hr or up to a full hr depending on the wood you burn before you need to refill. Also the flanges on the top can be flipped inwards to mount a small cup or pot to sit on top.
    A really great feature of the woodgas burning effect is that once it gets fully going there is NO smoke given off which is fantastic.
    It also fits inside the zebra 140mm camping pot.
    The bushbox is great for a quick fire that you add wood to when needed and for a longer duration fire I use the woodgas stove.
    They both work great with a Trangia too.
    Thanks again 😀

    I love little pack stoves, out of those three I don't have the solid fuel one. I have two gasification stoves, one is a stainless steel one similar to this one and the other is a smaller boundless voyage titanium one, the larger SS one I've got close to an hour of useful heat on a single fill no adding fuel after lit and the smaller Ti one between 30-40 min. With the gasification if filled right and lit from the top you get the best burn with little difficulty, I do prefer my smaller Ti one. I have various hinged (lixada on the way) or slotted put together stoves, for both types I love how little space they take up and with the hinged how easy they flop open to assemble. Great video,

    Lixada hands down because of price, packability, weight and ease of use. Not only can it run off twigs but it can also run off an alcohol stove or esbit fuel tabs. I use this stove all the time, doesn’t cause hotspots unless using thin gauge material like titanium.

    The lixada does come with 2 metal strips that form a cross on top for a pot stand, you can easily stand any pot on top of it and its very stable. A tip for hot spots, sit on top a bunsen burner gauze that has a ceramic center, it displaces the heat more evenly.

      Modern Outdoor Dweller hi there thanks for your video comparison
      there are 2 tips id give to you regards the uses of ohohu type stove being unable to easily support stuff ontop of it
      i have cut a curcular fine wire gauze same type as used in construction or heat ducting its impervious to flame heat etc
      it sits neatly supported by all 3 pot supports
      any sized cup or pan pot will be supported by the rigidity of the wire gauze connecting all 3 points of the pot stand
      it acts as a platform so span the pot stands with gauze
      ok
      the other tip is lexada use 2 tent pegs placed across through the holes on sides designed precisely for it
      these stoves are meant to be used in combo with 2 steel or alloy pegs
      to act as a cup stand ok?
      best wishes dave

  • @franksmedley8619
    @franksmedley8619 Před 4 lety

    Hello Taylor.
    There is a simple solution for the 'pot is too small for the top' problem. All you need is to get your hands on stainless steel thick mesh. Cut a piece to be about 3/8th inch wider than the top of the stove when assembled, and place the mesh atop the stove after assembly.
    If you desire compactness, take the mesh and cut it into 4 equal squares and roll one edge for each piece. Now, you can add a pair of 'pins' to allow you to push a pin linking two mesh sections. Two of these should span the top of the stove easily, but you should allow for the rolled edge where the pin will insert, ,and thus your 'squares' will start out as rectangles before you roll the extra mesh along one edge to make the pin connection slot. Yes, make sure your pins are good steel as well, since they will be spanning the center of the stove.
    Another way that is a bit more finicky is to do a similar thing, but with triangular pieces of mesh that are rolled along two edges. The resulting pinned together mesh will have an 'X' of pins through the center, and the pin ends will rest on the upraised edges of the stove.
    OR, you can go with the simplest solution... use a 'bag' from a larger folding stove to carry your chosen stove, and a large enough piece of the mesh that will easily overhang all edges of the stove after assembly.
    Just a few thoughts,
    speaking, Frank-ly

    I have the lixada stove but just a tiny bit smaller, only weighs 120 gr and fits all my little pots perfectly! Only paid 8 bucks on aliexpress.

    Really helpful video. Thank you. I like the little Lixada however does not look like it would hold a GSI cup. Is that so? May just spend the extra money and get a Firebox Nano.

    I have the round Gasification stove & I find it doesnt like to be re fed,... They are a Top Down burning Gasification stove so they really work best fill & burned once.

    enjoyed the video..subscribed and went to amazon and found several sizes and models
    of the LIXADA stove. If you were to get another one which size would you get...if you did not have one.thanks

      Sorry, if the comment comes too late. I have a small 9cm model of Lixada stove and it seems it has a problem with larger pots. While it burns hot enough I feel that the pot is loosing the energy faster than receiving. It's ok to boil a big cup of water, but for a bigger pots I would probably for for a larger model.
