  • In front of a then-record crowd of 97,282 at a rocking Beaver Stadium, unbeatens Ohio State and Penn State engaged in a classic, back-and-forth battle to keep one teams' national championship hopes alive.
Penn State jumped out to an early 10-0 lead (1:47-mark), but Ohio State answered with 10-straight points of their own, including a spectacular 35-yard TD pass from Joe Germaine to Dee Miller (3:19-mark). The Nittany Lions responded with a touchdown (4:38-mark) but Ohio State then ran off 17-unanswered points to take a commanding 10-point lead late in the 3rd-qtr (8:20-mark).
Aaron Harris cut the lead to 27-24 with one of the most memorable runs in Beaver Stadium history (8:56-mark), and Penn State used that momentum to engineer an 86-yard drive that was capped by a a 26-yard Curtis Enis run to take a 31-27 lead early in the 4th (11:52-mark). From there, a combination of bend-but-don't break PSU defense and clock-churning Curtis Enis runs allowed Penn State to hang on.
Ohio State received huge performances from Joe Germaine (29-43-378-2-2) and his two wideouts, David Boston (14-153-1) and Dee Miller (8-149-1), but it wasn't enough to offset one of the greatest games in Ohio-native Curtis Enis' career. Enis led Penn State with 23 carries for 211 yards, and the game-winning touchdown.
The win - coupled with a Florida loss later that night - propelled Penn State to a #1-ranking the following week in both polls.
