      Yesss and the point about geo-economical circumstances! Ever since studying A level Psychology I'm always questioning the latest hyped research and I'm like yeah nah they all grew up in one area, or there's no way to prove it was caused by that alone. Yet people will run with whatever the headline tells them. Which is why eggs have been repeatedly good or bad for you for decades 😅

    Thanks Dr. Barkley! I wanted to suggest a potential topic to consider for a future video. The Huberman Lab is the most popular health-related podcast in the world and he has 5.6 million subscribers on CZcams. And the second-most popular episode ever for the podcast is on ADHD: Episode 37 "ADHD & How Anyone Can Improve their Focus". Huberman is an ophthalmologist and an intelligent guy, but these influencers tend to run out of things to talk about within their expertise so they venture into topics that will get lots of clicks like ADHD. If it strikes your interest to respond to some of his comments in the episode, similar to your Jordan Peterson video, I'm sure it would reach quite a few people!
    (For what it's worth, I think he is typically good about staying in his lane when he interviews expert guests, but sometimes speaks too certainly/gets things wrong on topics outside of his area when he records on his own.)

    Initial thought on the PMDD study, that I need to get clarification on (but would love to hear if anyone already knows) - in the phases of the menstrual cycle, how are “pre-ovulation” “mid luteal” and “late luteal” defined?
    The reason I bring this up is that this sounds like potentially the majority of the cycle. Ovulation occurs about halfway through the cycle, and after ovulation is the luteal phase. So depending on the definitions, this could be anywhere from 50-100% of the cycle, which begs the question, if symptoms are elevated in those phases, what does that even mean? If it’s more than half of the time for the majority of a woman’s life, would it make more sense to look at these times of “increased” symptoms as the baseline, and the other periods (literally on our periods…) as a brief reduction in symptoms? Would this study just be saying, ADHD symptoms tend to be worse in women who also have PMDD?

I was curious if you have had any videos or your current opinion on the research of individuals with adhd and epilepsy?Recently I saw where there was a higher association between epilepsy and adhd estimated around 20% in comparison to the general population. I was wondering about the increase risk of inducing seizures with stimulant use. Thanks again for all you do!

    Massive important point on the Vitamin D issue... SO MANY people with ADHD have a much greater propensity to stay inside.. video gaming for boys and teens, isolation and comfort needs and sensitivity which often causes one to hunker down indoors.

    hi Dr. Barkley, would you consider discussing intrusive sleep, theta wave intrusion, and adhd?
    I definitely have had intrusive sleep my entire life (still do so at 31) falling asleep in the most random of places, including the classroom, shower, toilet, halfway through dinner, while waiting for someone/thing, I just can't control it and my family is absolutely baffled by it (and my extended family laughs at me for it)

Might be useful paying someone once to come in and have a look if you'll be recording in the room often (as you appear to be). And thanks for the videos.

    Hi Dr. Barkley. Why Adderal is not available in Spain and in Brazil?

    • @flyingfox707b
      @flyingfox707b Před měsícem +1

      Depending on where you are based, you should check out your country or region Health Ministry. They have a public registry of approved drugs. The usual reason for a drug not being available in a country is because lengthy approval processes on the side of the national board. Adderall is considered a problematic drug because it is amphetamine, as opposed to amphetamine salts like Conona, but that might be a misunderstanding on my part.
      You don't need to be on one family of stimulants or another. Talk to your psychiatrist and they will tell you the same thing, as long as the stimulant has the sought off effect it's fine.

    Russel, can you please please do a video on taking too many ADHD pills at once. I already know how depresssed/suicidal it can make someone but lordy lordy if some young person does what I just did...they may not be prepared. I tend to overdose when I first get a new prescription because it feels so good to be calm again...but it doesn't work..it goes the other way. I always forget just how damaging to the psyche overdosing is..and this was just Concerta 18mg..i took 3 pills....when i'd take too mcuh Adderall WOW the depression was 100x worse even. I tend to do this occassionally..its self-destructive at stupid..but at least I'm prepared and well-aware its the temporary drug not my new normal. I'm stil better off than having no meds...at least I'm not hyperactive raging and proscrastinating anymore. I got so much done the past month since i got Concerta its crazy..two doctors, dentist twice, taxes, did taxes, etc etc..long list.

    • @admiral7599
      @admiral7599 Před měsícem +1

      You're not supposed to chase the euphoria that you get in the first 2-3 days. The whole idea of taking the meds is to improve the pre-frontal cortex so that it can use less 'effort' to focus and manage the symptoms of ADHD. It's not supposed to be a mood booster cause that will do nothing for you in the long term and is dangerous as that means you're seeking it for the high(potential addiction). I would just be careful and probably try Vyvanse or a non-stim instead.

    • @stoneneils
