    Kinda disappointed it's just concrete, but I guess it makes sense. I was hoping for something like cutting/grinding/polishing a rough boulder into an atlas stone.

      Yea but they make like 8 for the competitions going from small to large so imagine finding stones big enough and transporting it and then cutting it down and then sanding it round each one would take a week and would be very hard to make and hard to make consistent weights. Vs this they use the same molds making a consistent stone

      @@char9550 What type of rock would give you the proper weight? For instance, Indiana limestone is very workable and was used to cover most of the buildings in Washington, D.C., (including the Washington and Lincoln Monuments) and many of the skyscrapers in New York due to its white appearance -- cheaper than white marble.

    secure an orbital sander on the side with a ratchet strap, turn it on and it will vibrate all the air out of it.

    Make sure to save a little concert after it settles a bit or it will compact and leave a gap at the open end of the mold. So pour a little in after it settles.

    For heavier stones that are the same size. Do they ad a heavier core, like a shot put? it would be interesting to see how that works and what they use.

      It's just concrete. Concrete is heavy enough and even 1 more inch in diameter of a sphere is a lot of volume

      Yeah usually some sort of shot in the center for heavier stones, and something like styrofoam if you want it to be lighter, but still the bigger diameter.

    You should invest and a proper concrete poker to remove all the air. A denser concrete mix for minimal effort. Really informative video

    How do they get the different weights of the stones? Some are super heavy but the same size.

      Commando Master they aren't all the same size they just look very similar because the weight is all evenly distributed throught the stone, so it would be hard to tell that one is bigger unless side by side, and they also add things like metal inside the stones sometimes to make them heavier

      It is common to fill the center of some stones with different size Styrofoam balls. This takes up space and changes the weight of the stone.

    How long to wait til its ready to use? Concrete generally takes 28 days to fully cure. Can I use it sooner..?

      From what I’ve gathered and will try, 3 Days in the mold, 3 days out, touch up, wait 1-3 more days, seal it, one more day then test it.

    I want to see a 30 min video of how you make the logs. Ive made a few myself but I would like to see a professional video with the tools you use. Other youtube videos about them are pretty simple and doesnt show the details or how to cut out room for the handles and how to attach them.

    Should be using a stick/rod and jam it in up and down to settle it out and get the air out of the mix. Works better than patting the sides of the globe to get the center more solid

      Should have settled it by probing with a stick too not just rotated and patted the sides of the mold. this isn't art class it's making a damn lifting implement. Dude clearly hasn't done any actual concrete work lol

    I have an aunt who used to run a concrete yard ornament business amd to get air bubbles out and to settle the concrete in the molds she'd use a palm sander with no sand paper on it
