To make a kick like sound you need to tune it tighter so the rim goes slightly under the skin surface. That will make you able to hit the very edge of the skin, that will give you the kick like sound. But if you do that the skin will be too tight to do the hit and press trick...I don't know whether it is possible to get both of them all in one setting on a metal darbuka, perhaps you'll need to stretch the skin out a bit for that.
I put cloth in the neck to cut the ring…aluminum does have a sharper sound if that’s what you want…a natural skin on aluminum gives a really strong bass, but don’t know if any goblet drum these days would accept that; my oldie has a metal ring with bolts

@@simontressin2406 Danke, die werde ich sicher haben! Was mir nur auffällt, das Fell ist teilweise "out of tune", wie du schon sagst. Hast du ein paar tipps fürs stimmen? Es sind immer genau 2 Stimmschrauben etwas höher als die anderen 4. Geht das mit der Zeit einfach weg?
Sehr schöne Trommel 😍. Hast du schon mal eine 28cm Aluminium Darbuka von GEF gespielt? Ich hatte die ungeschmückte in schwarz. War super. Jetzt habe ich eine ältere geschmückte gekauft. Bombastisch.

Aluminium, Clay or rarely from wood. Never Plastic.
