This is a prime example that today's music has "everything" if you're willing to look.
I've listened to a few by Durand Jones already, they came up as a suggestion on my Tidal account, it's very reminiscent of the Philadelphia soul sound. I wish this band all the success!
That's the only thing - You have to look. I can't understand people that claim that there is no "real music" anymore - Because there's actually more than ever and it's available to nearly everybody. It's just that there is sooo much that it overshadows all these smaller talents - They aren't in the big charts around the globe. But they are there - All it takes is a suggestion, a youtube search or whatever, really. And even small groups or solo projects can produce in such a high quality now, it still amazes me.
This isn't a time where "real music is dead" - Actually I think we're living in the best time for "real music" that we've seen so far.
They more like bringing back REAL MUSIC because todays music is complete gsrbage and THIS MUSIC JUST GAVE IT MOUTH TO MOUTH AND REVIVED IT MUCH LUV DURAND JONES N THE INDICATIONS

As I get older I often think that nobody makes good, original music any more and then you come across a band like Durand Jones and The Indications. These guys are clearly influenced by some of the soul greats, with a hint of James Brown, Otis Redding and Curtis Mayfield in some of the vocals and dare I say it.....Teddy Pendergrass on "Walk Away". The Indications provide seamless and tight backing, reminiscent of the Stax house band in the 60's with Steve Cropper, Booker T et al.
A versatile and talented group,these guys should be destined for great things.
