    Jason thank you, I reviewed this video with the focus of working my escape from the full mount during sparring. Sure enough, a 225 lbs purple belt got me pretty good and I could not shake him (I'm a white belt)…couldn't drag his leg because his feet were under my butt tightly, couldn't secure his arm to roll and couldn't create space when I bumped him…finally he moved under my armpit and I back rolled, secure sleeve and pushed his armpit with my leg:))))…this all happen in less than 20 seconds. The first 15 seconds I was thinking "man this doesn't work" but like you said they all work in the right situation. Also, the 2nd time, he was transitioning to an S mount and I shot my hands in between his legs and escaped…good stuff.

    In real life I'm using good take down defense to prevent going to the ground. And even if I still get taken down I'm using good fall position & tactics to prevent landing into a bad position. In which on the ground I'll try to maintain good position with head & arm control while later attacking with sweeps & strikes. Because even a skilled & experienced grappler will experience problems if he or she is in a bad position by another well trained grappler.

    I have a question. In the mount escapes shown, the man on top did not have his legs wrapped or "grapevined" around your legs in any way. Do any of these escapes still work in that situation? I notice it makes bridging and moving the hips much harder, making escape more difficult. What's the trick to escaping a tighter mount?

    • @denverstapleton7621
      @denverstapleton7621 Před 10 lety

      you will have to probably "unhook" one of the hooks / grapevines to be able to bridge more effectively. Kick the leg thats trapped up and out to remove a hook...

    Funny that I've not seen one person in the UFC do the counter to the cross body lock where you hook the long leg w/ the near leg, and raise your hips. it's a VERY fast tap, and if the guys doesn't tap, his ankle will break...

      for mount escapes focus on taking their Base away from one side then bridging and rolling over your NECK. for back escapes you need to make them loose control of one side of your body and turn to the opposite side. Hope it helps

  • @kobiesboxing4956
    @kobiesboxing4956 Před 5 lety

    The fact that you are in a bad position shows that you already fucked up. It's like coming up with a plan, or doing a plan to escape prison when you never should have made moves, or failed to have made moves that got you there. So I do everything not to get there like controlling his or her head & arms while later attacking them with strikes, and then maybe escaping the ground.

      I've used pretty much every escape here in live matches against bigger, stronger and more skilled opponents. No single escape works all the time, against every person or in every situation, but these do work when properly applied in the right situations. This is an excellent survey of go-to escapes.
