This is the best cold start ive seen. No talking, no music, a good angle....and you keep it filming until youve warmed it up, so that you can hear the transition into a smooth warming up idle. And the only idi of my own's year and straight pipes. I have one 4in stack on mine
I have a 94 f350..7.3 turbo. Only year well 93 1/2..but I'll never sell it. 265k..never had a issue. Well..4 injectors but externally so did it myself. Easy..love my truck
Within reason, our old 85 6.9l was good down to 10F then got stubborn and below -2F it couldn’t start without plugging up. But I rather plug them up anyway easier on them. Love the idi
That’s a cool truck , I am from Ireland and we don’t really have any big v8 diesle pickups here but I would really like a 7.3 v8 they sound really cool
Trust me man they're amazing if you ever get the chance to get one even a fixer upper I'd HIGHLY recommend it. My first one (a 2000 F-250) had so many issues and it was the most reliable truck I've ever owned aside from my second 7.3 a 1996 with over 334K miles and the worst issues it had was bad glow plugs harnesses valve cover gaskets and a chewed up turbo wheel thanks to the idiot who owned it before the guy I bought it off of who installed a K&N filter and intake on it
Get one shipped bro. They're worth it. 6.9s and/or 7.3s last forever if you take care of them. Its b/c they were originally designed as an IH industrial engine, just like the Cummins 5.9.
@brdman true two wheels at the rear yes that's what i meant and i'm from Brazil and whenever i see a pickup truck like this i am delighted it is my dream to have a sensational think the ford f250 super duty
The good old International Harvester / NaviStar IDI. Noisy, obnoxiously loud, just the way we like it. Turbocharged or naturally aspirated, I'll take both. That's a true cold start The wonderful sound of all eight coming to life, and actually warming up from dead cold. I did notice, for whatever reason the cold start high idle solenoid didn't kick in when you gave it throttle.
You know its funny. I see the videos of people putting old detroit motors in to everything and then doing a cold start video. I dont get it. Here is a idi and it fires off perfectly. I guess they either dont live in the cold or have alternate transportation😀
check out my new video, it loped a little too in that one and im pretty sure it happens because u got one or two glowplugs out, after i changed glowplugs it quit loping.
Lots of guys say their bullet proof, iv never had trouble with mine they are a fairly heavy engine but thats mostly due to the fact its a diesel, theres guys iv read about getting 600+ horses out of em so I think as long as you dont beat the crap out of them theyr damn good engines
265 hp and 505 lb/ft is easy with common available turbo kits. More can be achieved if you put in ARP studs, still further by changing pistons lowering compression from 21.5 to 16:1, and of course come the water meth propane etc. but that can damage them. I don’t know the numbers on it but the most powerful idi I know of was a 6.9l ceramic coat pistons lowered compression, turbo, possibly water meth and it would smoke a lightly tuned Chevy duramax easily. However, I think it’s life was three year at those extreme levels. With a regular turbo kit, studs, and stock compression you can get up to 300hp 600lbft at the flywheel and get over 400,000 miles out of it. They are fairly bulletproof if you keep them maintained, use a fuel additive like Power services, and don’t let the EGTs stay buried they will get over 500,000 miles. First and foremost is the fuel lines return lines all age and develop air leaks replace those pop in standard new injectors which are cheap and you’re good to go.
@@JohnHBatte Okay, thank you. How about a 7.3 Power Stroke? How much Power can you get out of those safely? Are the parts for those cheap and are those engines easy and cheap to work on?
Well i guess if ur driving these new deisels and trying to squeeze every bit of 200,000 miles out of it your right but that old truck will probably role up to the million mile mark and you can work her hard the hole way and cold start it and take off before the temp guage budges every day and still be outliving the deisels of today for years to come
@@coal-rollinpowerstrokinkra7311 I take pride in driving an old diesel, which based off you're name I'm sure you're more than familiar with the legendary 7.3 PSD. But these engines hitting the million mile mark still depends on taking care of it, to include not revving when it's cold. 2020, or 1994.5, they're still prone to the same stress and wear that even a minute of high rev's place on all the seals and rings due to the rapid temperature change. We like to call our engines bullet proof, but the engines that need a rebuild before 400k are the ones who mistakenly took pride in roughing up their engine with the justification of it being "a million mile engine."
