  • This spring it's time to pull out the Yardworks lawn sweep and dethatcher so we can dethatch the lawn. In this video we are using it behind my Mahindra Max 26 XLT tractor, but it also works great behind my Hustler Raptor SD zero turn mower. Stick around and let me know what you think of the setup.

    The dethatcher brings the material that's stuck in the ground up to to surface enabling the sweeper to pick it up.😮

    I wonder if you could get a second dethatcher bar added to the front of that sweeper..

    I’m not picking on the video maker but I wanted to make an important comment. Picking up and disposing of the debris from that sweeper is VERY time consuming and exhausting work. It would be reasonable for video makers of sweepers to recommend sweepers best for people that have a dumping ground area. If you don’t then use the baggers on the rider mower.

      This is definitely not a one size fits all. I've always lived in areas where we've had the option to be able to just dump yard waste. I too have used lawnmower baggers and have mixed feelings on how well they work for the money. Appreciate you stopping in and leaving a comment!

    Kinda like swatting a fly with a sledge hammer. Get 4 more to pull behind that tractor. Seems like it worked good though.

      I have a zero turn mower that i can pull it with as well. Sometimes its just easier and more comfortable to pull out the compact tractor. Thanks for watching

    I got one because i built up some thatch in my yard but then i bought a toro zero turn and put a mulching kit on it. Now i kind of wish i just got a bagger instead of the mulching kit for the mower, then i wouldnt need a lawn sweeper/dethatcher set up

    • @k6outdoors
      @k6outdoors  Před 11 měsíci

      It definitely depends on your size of yard. I have almost 2 acres of property and I hate to be constantly emptying a bagger while I mow. I dethatch once or twice a year and all is well! Thanks for stopping in!

    How long have you worked for Menards?

    • @k6outdoors
      @k6outdoors  Před 2 lety +1

      I worked for them for 2 years in college but that was 12 years ago. I just do alot of shopping there and thought this was a good deal. If your referring to my recommendation to buy this, Menards has no affiliation with this video and if they did I would have to disclose that. I bought this with my own money.

    Picking up this setup today. Pretty excited. Does this setup pick up sticks and twigs? Also, I'm sure your tractor is ridiculously heavy, doesn't it compact your lawn soil? Thanks for the video

    • @k6outdoors
      @k6outdoors  Před 2 lety +1

      While i wouldnt say it is meant to pick up sticks and twigs, it does. The tractor weighs about 3000lbs but doesnt hurt the yard. Many people actually mow with a tractor such as mine. Thanks for stopping by!
