    Thank you. This is the best review of both blades I’ve seen after checking for hours. Thank you for actually using them to show the difference. I bought the graphite blade silver Fox based of what people said, I took it back in exchange for the standard blade gold version based of what I need it for. Thanks for showing the difference. Makes a world of difference. 💯

    I wish there was more information like this when I started, youtube was nowhere near in depth at that time either lol. A lot of people see this and say they can achieve the same thing with 1 set of tools. And while they may be able to, they don't understand why. I run the gold standard blade and had no idea that the graphite blade had a different setting to begin with. Mad respect for you doing this. I love it!

    I feel like the graphite blade grabs longer hairs better whereas the standard blade pushes those hairs away. Both are great but for line ups on the forehead area i like the graphite better and it stays cooler. Not a fan of using trimmers for bulk so wont use them for that anyway. For doing line ups C cup and around the ears i like the standard blade.

    And yes.
    It does make sense of what each blade specializes in. Now that I watch your video 🎥.
    I was going to go with the black trimmers.
    But I have bulk removers.
    I need good hitters on edging.
    For crispy edges.
    (Yes I use the razor too.)
    So I'm gonna go with the gold trimmer.
    Maybe modify the blade a little.

    • @Staygold31
      @Staygold31  Před 4 lety

      For that initial function yes. Each of them highlight something better the other can do in less strokes test, BUT you can achieve both separately. most def ESP if you finish anything off with a razor to clean up any lines.. as long as you had a curve in place from the trimmer to follow, it gets tight and perfect by razor follow up. Hope that makes sense!

    Question: Is there a functional difference between these two blades, if they're both zero gapped? It feels like they would be utilizing the same areas of the blade - Wouldn't that be reducing the Deep Tooth blade to a Standard blade?

    • @Staygold31
      @Staygold31  Před 3 lety

      I totally understand the confusing part of that question lol deep tooth blade has wider gaps so the pick up for a clean crisp line is a little less intense than what a standard blade leaves as far as a finish. Sure you can get there with either and depending on the user, they know how to tweak their tools to get it perfectly to where they need it. Once u drop them, they do land at the same place..only difference is how much teeth are hitting the skin when it comes into contact. Hopefully that makes sense! Wider gaps are better for some coarse textures or cutting through thicker hair

    • @BobaDavis
      @BobaDavis Před 3 lety

      @@Staygold31 I will say one thing I've noticed is that the Fine Tooth blade, which does make me work a bit more on thicker textures of hair has the benefit of not catching in people's skin - My Deep Tooth almost always caught into the skin of my client's neck.

    I am struggling to make my mind up on what trimmer to buy and kind of hoped you could could give me your 5 pence 😬 Seems I am not alone looking for answers to this, so might benefit others as well.
    I am a "home user" looking for a trimmer that can do my beard with 3-6mm plus lines... so would not mind zero gapping possibility. I would however also want to use the same trimmer for my head with maybe 1-3mm lenght.
    I am kind of set on Babyliss for some reason, but open to options! Which trimmer would you suggest for this use? I guess I need a guide combs compaitble trimmer to manage the different lenghts? Price is not a main deciding factor, but naturally USD 150 is better than USD 300 😃

      They both have the option to zero gap. The difference is what they're strong at. Standard is well balanced and deep tooth is better for debulking super dense hair

    Sofia how do you fade and taper the heads that has indentation and hair pattern that grows different directions? And with zero gap blade how do you avoid not cutting the skin of the client especially kids skin?

    • @Staygold31
      @Staygold31  Před 3 lety

      lot of practice ;) As far as zero-gapping - you gotta set them right when you first get them. Depending on the volume of cutting - the blades can move after some time. I check every morning how they feel before I put them on people

    i got a new gold fx trimmer with the stock gold fx707z blade, it looked to already be zerogapped from factory, i noticed when i use it on really small neck hairs, it seeems to kinda grab/pull, but only when the hair is super tiny, kinda like when its trimmed the day before and just grows a tiny bit. it seems to cut other hairs fine. is this normal? i assume when the hair is super small its kinda coarse, which is why this blade cant cut it properly hence the grabbing/pulling? unless im mistaken. thx

    • @Staygold31
      @Staygold31  Před 4 lety

      Yes ! The taper graphite ! It’s got a natural bevel that will help fading. Ur fades will look nice and soft

  • @a.d.c7941
    @a.d.c7941 Před 4 lety +1

    I may be the only person in the world who feels this way, but, for the price of these babyliss trimmers, I feel like they could at least come with guards. Some people like to keep their beard at a certain length. And even the beard. Idk maybe its just me. Wahl detailers arent the most luxurious looking trimmers, but they at least give u a couple of guard options. Damn.

    • @Staygold31
      @Staygold31  Před 4 lety

      i know what you mean, but we did do a big vote and most barbers on our team decided no because we get the guards with our clippers. Trying to keep things simple. I already carry two sets of guards depending on what clipper I use so another one would be over the top. Personally for me, i've not found much use for trimmer guards even in the past when the Wahl ones come with it.

    • @a.d.c7941
      @a.d.c7941 Před 4 lety

      Sofie StayGold I most certainly understand. I am not a barber, I just like to keep my own beard trimmed up. Especially since Covid and not being able to go to a barber until now. The black and Gold ones that have your face on the box, I LOVE the look of them, but without being able to trim my beard with a guard Im not sure about getting them. There are guards that I can purchase with them? Also, for lining up the beard, would u prefer I get the black and gold ones or just the gold ones? Thank u so much for your reply and help with this. I admire your work and what u do.

    • @Staygold31
      @Staygold31  Před 3 lety +1

      if your using a foil shaver, it wouldn't matter which of these blades you ended up getting, but if its trimmer only, the fine tooth will hit the closest THATS only if the blades are zero-gapped

    I love the skeletonfx trimmers but if you use them for longer than a few months they get so loud its uncomfortable to the client with that loud buzzing. It feels like the tension loosens up after a while or something. Bought a new blade and the same thing. I still use them, but man they need to figure those tension springs out. I have had almost every clipper u can buy and these hit fresh out the box, but that clatter is the worst. Cool care, adjusting, oil, still no luck
