When I was little, I used to literally talk out loud to the wind. Started doing it again last week on a day that was really dry, sunny, and had no breeze. When I asked the wind to come out, it felt like that the air swooped out and through me like a happy greeting or a dance, welcoming me. I didn't know that wind magic was actually a thing, but I absolutely hope to use it.

This is actually a copy of the common I left under a video you have about Freya from about 2 years ago because I'm hoping to get a response.
I have a more specific question. How do I give thanks and offerings in the proper way for Freya? Mind you I'm completely new.
I would probably be known as agnostic or atheist by most people's definitions however I was in a relationship recently where she was investigating Norse mythology and together we asked for Freya to help us fix our relationship which the primary problem revolved around my sex drive not meeting hers. The part that is most interesting and the reason why I'm here is not only did it start to get better it became the best it ever had been and then when neither of us gave some kind of thinks or offering which I mentioned we probably should do our relationship drastically fell. We went through one or two more cycles like this where I mentioned we should probably thank Freya and even mentioned that it's likely the reason our relationship had the huge fall s. I recognize the pattern of invoking and asking for freya's assistance and then not giving proper thanks and her taking it back along with a little more. Although this is possibly just chance that these two things happen to coincide with each other I would much rather be respectful and thankful to the potentiality of Freya sincerely taking interest and helping My relationship. If I continue to see the pattern apply especially after properly giving offerings and thanks I will have to accept the power of Freya is real and will continue to give appropriate offerings.

Ohhhhh my goodness I'm learning alot from you. I was talking to my deity while I was walking and then out of nowhere where I stopped near my apartment the wind was blowing through the gate so I stood there and let the wind hit me I went upstairs and the message that I got from that is I have to use more intent with my magic đŸ’ŻđŸ’ŻđŸ’Żâ™„ïžâ™„ïžđŸ€˜đŸ€˜đŸ€˜

I haven’t even watched the video yet and I’m so excited!!! My city is very windy and for the longest time i would joke about the wind in my city being malicious and wanting to drive us out (I live in Canada’s capital for context.) But then one day I thought about this more seriously and tried opening myself up to the wind spirits. I immediately felt that they weren’t malicious, they’re just playful, maybe a little mischievous. Maybe they can be malicious, but as much as I’ve joked about it in the past I’ve never felt that to be true. I’ve wanted to get more well acquainted with the elements and nature that exist in my city, so this video comes at a perfect time!

@@TheNorseWitch yes! When I first opened myself up to them I also got the impression that they were maybe a little relieved or excited to be perceived in a less negative light. Like I said, my city is very windy. People hate on the wind a lot here. It felt like they were excited to be perceived accurately and not just be considered an inconvenience or a bother. Now when I go outside and gusts of wind sweep over me, I don’t get irritated. It feels like a bunch of little spirits rushing over to say hi and push me around playfully. Almost like nature is as excited to see me as I am to see it!

Lightbulb with living on the Oregon coast, cool air from over the ocean, blowing in; endings, calming and stuff. Then the wind that comes from the inlands (Portland and "The Valley") is always hot as crap, so fiery and fierce and determination with new beginnings (East). Thank you for helping me note these details to add to my craft!

Wind is one of my most beloved spirits! When I was younger I called myself a wind fairy because I felt such a strong connection. I used to refer to the breeze as wind sprites too. I've been thinking about beginning a more serious relationship with the wind- thank you!!

Super cool video! I knew that most practices use the Wind as an element, but it's really comprehensive with its symbolism. In our animistic culture the Wind is more of a divine feminine figure, guardian and manifestation of all Winds and watches over all who ride her Winds. She was frequently invoked in weather magic long ago, but having been spent time meditating and praying for her, I found that she has a very wide range of esoteric associations like ruler of fates, carrier of secrets, messenger for all beings of the spirit realm, psychopomp, etc. She is kind of a blend of Hermes, Hekate, the Fates and the literal Winds. Even today for the local Christians she is kind of a "spirit witch" figure.

I always had a tense relationship with the wind growing up (due to not liking the extremely dry inland winds that come every year) and recently reading Polish folklore its interesting because I learnt that strong winds/wirldwinds are frequently associated with multiple devil spirits in these stories. In one example a character traps a wind devil by throwing a knife into the center of a wirlwind, pinning it to the ground.

When I have a nagging problem I want gone I write about it in my note book and place a feather as a place marker that I have come across and collected. I place it on or inbetween the pages- if it's an epic rant!
Later when I feel compelled and the energy feels right I release the feather and the problem into the wind then leve an offering for the birdsđŸ€—

I use all elements for little simple things wind clearing things say like the fog in my head the distractions in my life, same goes for all elements.
Tornados Hurricane. Those things mentioned are great I like the idea of runes on a stick I think that if I ever live in a house with trees I would carve some runes in the trees like we used to do as children only it was our initials into tress, but having the runes for protection plus incoming good stuff . And if a person was to plant a tree you could do the same thing, and it would grow through generations and not only with wind magic but other elements also

Can you discuss more offerings back to the elements/earth as a whole when you are gathering herbs or other things FROM the earth so that you can be respectful with what you take and leave something in return?

If you are gathering parts of plants, you could offer water from your home to the plant in return. You could pick up garbage from the area you are harvesting from. You could offer a service, such as dispersing the seeds. Please remember to forage/harvest responsibly and respectfully so that the plant will recover and also all the animals that depend on it will continue to do so. A general rule is to only take 10-25%.

I hate wind and should know more. I always forget about it. Now getting close to Odin I really need to. I've always felt wind has a tie to Native American practices, but never thought about Greek mythology. I admit I feel slightly silly. I knew about Scandenavia, but not much more than that it is a thing. I wish more witches talk about this. Yes everything is so integrated. Thank you. We live on the coast, so a Northetn West sea breeze. Now I want to try this. Since its coastal, it's tied to earth and water. It gas gotten pretty destructive the last few years, so perhaps emotional. We'll have to see. Each element has a dark side too, so I qould think each wind has good and unpleasant potential. In my case, the mountains are North and are dangerous. You'd get mud slides, destructive falls, tree falls, boulders, and other natural diasters, so I wonder if that's kind of why that belief. Could it depend on what's in the geographic location? I love the flag idea.

Lots of great info. I really love that you give so many ideas about using our own location, weather, deities, upg, etc. This makes much more sense to me than a rigid set of rules for cardinal directions, elements and other aspects when beliefs and practices are so different. I understand that if a person follows a specific discipline [ed. meant to say "discipline" not disciple] these things may be defined, but for many of us we are looking to nature for guidance.
