Gearbox issue is there in my city vx mt. Bought in November 2020 and done 2000kms. Main problem comes when we shift gear to 4-5 gear to 2nd gear or 1st gear. Gear tend to stuck n we have to fight the gear stick to shift. But when I’m stationary the gears are smooth. I asked dealership about this n they said it’s normal

As per the feedbacks from lot of viewers, it has been seen that the service dealership is considering this issue as a normal functioning of the gear box.
@@jinkswinks408 yes they told me that it’s normal. But I’ve been using Honda city since 2nd generation. And constantly upgrading generations to generations. But this 5th Gen city is not up to the mark in terms of engine refinement and cabin insulation.
U can't downshift if ur at high speed for that gear....same thing in 4th gen too....no idea if its a issue or its built like that...
This transmission problem is woth my 2018 city too...you can't do a jack about it😭😭😭

Agree on the suspension setup. It is very very soft and more over my V CVT came with GoodYear tyres and they take every pothole and depressions on the road.
In german cars suspension is mainly focused on stiffer side for better stability on highway but in city it is on softer side for the comfort of rear passenger
3rd Gen city suspension is very stiff, which makes handling great on twisties, though at the cost of ride quality on bad roads.
For the gear shifting problem, press the clutch twice on neutral and then shift gears. This is a common problem with many manual cars hope this helps
Is this an issue with the 5th gen City or does the 4th gen City manual has the same problem? I wud b grateful if u can answer. 😊
for reverse press clutch and brake together and gears always goes in smoothly. I have 4gen BS6 bought in Feb 2020 and no gear issues till 5th, reverse make problem only if wheels are spinning little, so I brake first then put reverse no problem at all.
Every car’s front fender is made of softer sheet metal as it’s a part of crumple zone to absorb impact .
Hey. Thanks for your feedback but you can check the same sheet of cars like verna, skoda rapid and even a basic car like Ritz. You will be able to see the difference.
@@nakulshridhar2299 yes you are right , it varies from car to car . Eg . A Fiat punto might have a hard fender metal but it’s door sheet will be much harder .
Honda’s build quality is mileage oriented so sheet metal is cheap and light, but 5 star rating in ASEAN means the chassis is strong and will keep passengers safe ,least we hope so :p
And Honda cars sheet metals are better than Suzuki , I have the new swift and it’s metal is worse.
Also are you facing any rattling noise from suspension , dashboard ? I have booked city V and I’ve seen some videos stating cabin noise .

3rd problem gear issues,I test drived 2020 honda city and when I drove it was very smooth
Done 5000 kms on the new city ZX MT petrol model. Drive train is fantastic, gear shifts are precise and butter smooth, for reverse make sure you car is at a standstill, press the clutch all the way back and it works like a charm. The major problem is with the softer suspension setup, it's too wobbly, and even on smooth roads doesn't generate confidence. Going for wider tyres may sort out that problem. Yes there are a few itchy sounds in the cabin and the camera quality is poor, but the bumpers are supposed to be soft, so can't complain there.
Thank God I bought a CVT no issues at all❤️
Definitely built quality could have been better,I am facing issue in gear box when I shift from 3rd , 4th and 2nd gear to first,it is bit harder when shift to first gear,otherwise no problems,good ride,handling,ivtech magic,comfort,luxury satisfactory
2015 model and earlier one were superb in cornering confidence and stability at high speed
Absolutely right . Honda due to extreme cost cutting , the sales are declining. There are no rear adjustable headrests in jazz and wrv which is shocking
I own a 2022 VMT and I observed that while changing to reverse gear in stationary i can hear gear shift sound inside cabin when my driver side glasses are down .. is this common or need to go for service centre
I have a 2017 Honda BRV diesel and i also sometimes feel the same with gearbox on certain RPM’s. Like taking the car on a speedbreaker really slow in 2nd and shifting to 1st really late, my gearbox restricts my shift. Its like the car knows it can go in the bigger gear you don’t need to shift😂. Idk what it is but i am fine with it as it never led to the car being stalled.

Yeah toolbox would have been better , but it doesn't rattle around.
Stop comparing headliner quality with your old Rapid, you are used to rapids quality which is ofcourse better than this, you should have known that before your purchase.
Yes the gar box needs breaking in, after that it's the slickest MT available in India now.
Yes suspension is softer than Rapid, that has been made for good city ride quality, it's an compromise that has been made.
The fenders are intentionally made like that for pedestrians safety, it will crumple if you kick it, it's meant to do that.

3:11 I am also facing same problem in my 5th gen City V mt.. Shifting from 1st to 2nd gear feels notchy, hard..also shifting from 5th or any gear to 1st gear feels hard..Gears atakte hai..I will definitely show this to Service centre..
Dashboard plastic(where we place idols of god)in right hand driver side is literally pressing by two fingers..Apart from that there is no single issue im facing in my city
Ride, handling,comfort,space,ivtec engine,ton of safety features from base variant.. everything is best in segment..Also Built quality of indian honda city is same as Thailand version,Check the kerb weight..is same.. Although sheet metal is light is some areas but chasis, structure is solid and rigid..Not like hyundai/kia 's like,they give good sheet metal but structure is poor..Car' built quality mainly depends upon structure first,then sheet metal quality

Honda should really think about the materials they use. I too don't like some of the things in city-
1. Tyre size ratio.
2. Touchscreen infotainment system
3. Cheap plastic quality used inside
4. Cabin noise.
Because we pay almost 12lkhs for the base model and 16lkhs for the top end, and what we get is not satisfactory. Rest the car is way much comfortable, fun to drive,peppy engine, awesome braking, and delivers good mileage.
Not 12 lackh its 13 lakh
Test driven both city and yaris....i was not happy with the build and cabin insulation of city, so i gone for Toyota Yaris...zero issues so far(24,000km done) it is just underrated car of the segment

soft front fender is to absorb impact not a poor quality. For the tools, you can easily arrange it in a way that it wont move of jump around in bumpy road. not sure if im able to explain this, but i have done it in my car without any problems. Just like you, even i dont have any cabin noise or any vibrating parts in the car. however, let me know if you have observed this or know how to fix this
1. In the manual, it says we can connect the pen drive in the first port but that doesnt work. only the 2nd port (bottom one) works.
2. If you switch on radio, the only way to shut it off is by changing the source to bluetooth or usb. However, in case your phone is connected via android connect and you happen to switch on the radio (as you have a source button on steering, its easy to get pressed while driving), there is no way to switch it off. Only way is to disconnect the phone, change the source to bluetooth/usb and then connect the phone again.. a huge safety problem
I had the same year shifting problem in my newly bought Honda City 5th gen and I found a jugaadu solution for the gear getting stuck just rev the car before slotting the gear in - even very little amount of revving works great as well and gear don't get stuck anymore. I think it's some issue with the clutch and gearbox calibration.

its insulation effect...not about safety....there is damping in door to cancel outside noise...hence door sheet is not bending...it seems like different quality....but they are same
Try to upgrade the wheels to 16" and drive, than I guess that suspension issue be some what resolved
Yep... the relatively lower profile tyres would provide a bit of stiffness to the overall suspension effect.
It’s disappointing to see features and build quality lagging in Honda city being such premium sedan.
It's is problem with some units only
Honda in competition with ciaz increased length & width.
But both the cars compromised on built quality in order to lower kerb weight thus increasing a bit mileage.
I believe 4th Generation city is still the best.

guys to be honestly m say u guys need to press whole clutch in u miss a 1inc also u will face this problem. this is an honda car trust me just press the whole clutch n try my god the most smooth gearbox it is. am driving city 4 gen year 2018 my car is amazing in power and in everything.

the fender is suppose to on the softer side its a crumple zone and it is made so so that the shock is absorbed before it reaches the cabin and its a major part of pedestrian protection so the bumper and the fender are suppose to be soft especially the bumper, is ur u car a diesel vehicle???
and ya it make the car more safer not unsafe, the other problems I agree with even I'm facing them. btw the paint feels of better quality in ur car.

Good information….Honda seems to focus on the engine alone….. I use a rapid
And that is why Rapid only last for 8-12 years max and Honda City lasts for 15-20 years
Is this some kind of a problem with Honda's being built in India? As I have never heard of these problems in Honda's built in Thailand which is where we get Honda's in the Philippines

While you will be shocked to see the impact on the front metal, you will be surprised to see the cabin intact. Check it out. You will be pleasantly surprised.

5 - agree its quite open space they should have given some fixed place.
4 - all car roof is same. I have seem in verna n my dzire too do nothing to worry there.
3 - Hyundai has best gears in all theirs cars.u cannot compare. My dzire too has same gear shifting issue.
2 - build is ok i saw the car in showroom. I guess better than 4th gen.
1 - suspension yes its soft n due to more length in this 5th gen u feel more bumpy ride at back. Same point was raised by motor octane.
Rapid build cannot be compared with any car in this segment. But again it has its own drawbacks less space old boring looks..
On n all your points were good but ab jab 14lac daal diya hai mathe pe toh use karlo.phele nahi check kya test drive pe?.koi gal nahi. Just kidding man.

I have 2020 honda city vx cvt and i have not experienced any of the above problems and the drive quality is far better than european cars

Gear transmission is butter smooth in Honda city… you need to compare with other cars to really know the difference… I never faced any issue with transmission… it’s just like you touch and it’s into gear …

Thanks for watching the video. We have the V model, which according to us was value for money. If your preference is ZX, then you can go for it considering the facts. Most of the issues should be same as the base model and top model differs only on features.
There are no issues … only “issue” that is genuine here was that tool box has no specific space 🙄

Also the new Rapid that is expected to launch in 2021 also looks amazing. The only problem with Skoda is that it is very high maintenance in comparison with Hyundai and Honda.

You can go for Honda City. The reason for me to buy it was in this segment I felt it was pure luxury. You have to keep extra care as we felt that the build quality is not very good.
What about the rear seat space. Can 4 people adjust there.
Rear Seat space is the best in this car. You will not get this much space in any other car.

03:34 gearbox of Honda has always been on stiffer side. Hyundai is the king in this business. No company, trust me no company is even close to the level of smoothness that Hyundai offers in its manual Cars. Even after 10 years, my Accent gears can be changed just with a single finger, it's so buttery smooth😊

The spare wheel doesn't rattle around it is fixed with a screw like thing...they provide spare with diamond cut alloys for ZX variant..both are false in your video
Hi...it is not the spare wheel that makes the noise but the toolkit since there is no fixed area for it. Please see the below link to see how Skoda does it in Rapid.

Before buying Honda City, we checked all the cars of this segment. So, coming to the comparison:
1. Skoda Rapid is now coming with 1.0 turbo engine. Personally, my preference is not the turbo cars. I like cars with more cc instead of turbo. Obviously the turbo punch during the Skoda Rapid test drive was incredible but I loved the agility of Honda City Engine.
2. The dashboard look of Skoda Rapid has been same since 2012. It's quite old. While, on the other hand, sitting in Honda City was a luxurious experience.
3. Considering the space in the car, there is no comparison of Honda City with any of the car in it's segment.
4. I have experienced high maintenance of Skoda cars. I had octavia and rapid, this time I opted for Honda City to get a new experience.
@@jinkswinks408 thank you for the reply. I own honda city v mt 2020. But I have known the issues already such as interior built quality which looks good but is very poor. Exterior body which is not that great compared to its rivals and would come out in one punch. I have known these. But I still went for the city because of nostalgia. Second honda / Toyota reliability is unbeatable. 3) I don't have any plans to sell this car in 5-10 years. I want to keep it longer more than 15 years since I don't want to sell it and get another like the trend these days such as buy and sell in 5 years. So what I need is engine life which japanese manufacturers are known for. 4) space. I can travel with my fsmily. And space is the only luxury thing. Rest all looks fine and mediocre. But space is something which I need to long distance travel.
5) it's comfortable for every passengers.
6) honda is known for manufacturing internal combustion engine and city had been in the market for 22 years and has been in international market from 1981. So it's an important product for honda.
7) new engine from honda had been used in north America for honda fit/jazz. It's used in vezel. Honda freed.l and honda jade (JDM ) so standard is very high and the engine has been there in International market and Japanese domestic market. So honda can't go wrong with this new dohc IVtech 1.5 which is also fun to drive.
8) a bit of nationalism which is personal and can be neglected for people. I was thinking I would pay my hard earned money only to Indian car companies and India's best friends such as japan. (Historically japan is known to be very close with India and had helped even to get independence) ( even this modi schemes such as make in India has only one foriegn contribution and that is japan ) and so I was thinking that way too.
These are my reasons. But I had driven both vento and rapid... Turbo is really really attractive. And sometimes I feel I should have gone but othertimes I think I was good because my most priority was keeping the car for longer time and have high reliability throughout
@@jinkswinks408 another point is honda city 2020 is also an enthuthiasts car. 4th generation was a disappointment. But the 5th one is very very nice and has the genes of first honda city in India. So u can take it for a weekend travel and race around and at the same time u can travel with family and friends.
@@jinkswinks408 also for base variant it's loaded with everything we need although it's not feature loaded. We get everything we need jn that. I don't care about features too. Base simple features are enough.
Hi, I own Honda city vMT ..I found the roof is making noise and there is a strange buzz noise coming in the section from the passenger side dashboard..this noise is not frequent but as the car travels, the noise does make itself heard. Any such problems as such?
Sir should i go for nexon xz plus or honda city my first preference is safety and ride quality. In other videos it shows that city has some noise from front end left side wheel, is it true? Is ride comfort in bad road is good?

Thanks for watching the video. I would like to highlight a point here. Both the vehicles are best in their segment. Tata Nexon a mini suv is best in its segment considering the build quality. However, I have heard lot of negetive reviews about the car service by Tata Service Dealers. Tata in service has a bad name.
On the other hand, Honda Cars will give you a sense of luxury when you drive the car. The ride of Honda City is extremely smooth. There has been problems in some of the cars but it's not true with every Honda City. Now, both the cars have its pros and cons. But both are best one. Go with any one of them as per your utility.

I have bought a ZX petrol variant. Till now I have not had any issue with suspension noise gear change etc. It is always easy to find faults in car. One guy did a video on noise issue so I checked it while driving the car and there was no issue.. Sometimes I feel that people are highlighting minute issues to get some viewership.. The car built quality is far better than almost all the cars in the segment and the car got 5 star rating in crash test.You cannot expect a BMW experience in a 15 lakh car guys.. Honda City is the best car when it comes to engine, cabin space and brand value.
Dint saying like problems to me, more like a feedback thing that Honda could improve..

Absolutely..iam disappointed with the gear box...Gear shift is not smooth while driving..specially while downshifting from 3rd or 4th to 2 nd gear...I raised this issue in servicing.no specific answer...I bought it in song 2020...not happy with the overall build quality also..

Very disappointing. I hope Honda recalls the units from this initial batch and fixes it up but pata nahi if engine related issues hein toh usko kaise fix karenge but gearbox ka shayad kar bhi dein.
Hope it works out for you dude. May be 5th gen Honda buyers have some Facebook or ig group about this, do look into it. Shayad sab milke complaint karenge toh kuch ho.

Does anyone encounter any problems shifting gears in the CVT as well.. I had a manual 2nd generation.. Driving was smooth and no problems with engine.. owned it for 10 years.. But some people found it hard to shift sometimes..

As per the showroom sales team, the build quality does not vary with respect to the models. There are more features present in the upper variants but there is no difference in the build quality. One thinv I would like to highlight, I took test drive of almost all the cars in this segment. Honda City has the most refined engine jn it's class. No car is perfect. If you are ok with the facts in the video, you should definitely go for it.

Purposely bonnets ko aisa banaya jaata hai ki collision woh bend ho jaaye aur occupant ko safe rakhe, abhi to sabhi expensive cars aur SUV mein bonnet aluminum ke aate hain international markets mein, main cheez uski frame hai jo aapko safe rakh to hai in event of an accident. But hum Indians compare quality with the heaviness of the product as usual.

I feel sad that brands take customers for granted and give such poorly finished products while charging an absolute bomb.
Might well buy a ciaz and save 4 to 6 lakhs and cry. Why pay more?
And probably this is why one should never buy a newly launched model as it will have all sorts of glitches n issues.
Finding fault is crazy! Hope there is no car exist in this universe without fault. The question is what is important and impactful for car buyers that only matters, otherwise like searching some place to hit the nail without any reason.

Yes, we have noticed this jerk. We will get it checked during the 3rd service.

i bought verna sx petrol manual...honda city se sasti bhi padi plus build quality is amazing..fit and finish is also very strong...only thing is that it lacks rear seat space when u compare it with city and ciaz..but fir bhi rear seat me space bahot hai verna me.

Problems, problems, problems. I wanted to buy this gen but instead sticked to 3 year old 2018 40k km 4th gen. Best decision. 4th gen is much better looker than 5th gen too.
Definitely very dissappintment to see first issue.. people buy at this price and cant expect to hear noise from spare tyre.. couldnd understand why Honda missed it..even hatchbacks have proper insolation..

It is carried forward from last year, 4th gen had worst interior and exterior quality, panel gaps were huge, but mechanically the car is really good 4 years 50,000 km I didn't had any issue mechanically, the car is perfect, but I won't say the same about interior squeaks and rattle, suspension wise I would say it is good for Indian roads highway cruise, I upgraded my tyres to 195/55 Michelin and they really keep the car planted, mine is top end CVT, I even like the gearbox it does its job well, it is better than any other CVT in the market, I'm looking to upgrade my car to either city or Seltos turbo, but both cars have quality issues which is bad, city should have been more loaded at least for top end over priced as ever!

No Tata ASS would be poor for sure! As I said mechanically & maintenance wise the car is really good, I don't need such a huge car, I also have a luxury car to take care of that need, except Seltos or city no other car is there in the market that appeals to my need

hey! I own the same car and believe me there are no such problems in my car! and for the suspension thing there is a small tweak you can do and it will be just fine! and if there are problems then I suppose something is wrong with your dealership and they are selling faulty cars!

Yes the car is good rather best in segment. We choose this car since it was more spacious than any other car in the segment. If you dont have space as a priority and if you are okay with slightly outdated interior look....you can also try Verna.
