I hate to say this, but gay people often have very expressive faces, communicating a vast range of emotions with the eyes, a twist of the lip, all kinds of very finely tunes signals. (But yes, not saying this applies here! Probably just an excellent actor!)
@aryiooeetygv thanks for the info; as I basically said, either he’s gay (and an amazing actor) in real life (perfectly ok by me!) or straight in real life but an even more impressive actor. He has not only the mannerisms stupendously accurate, but an acting ability (the super fine-tuned facework) that I think gay people tend to master (as natural endowment or responding to built in challenges) much more proficiently than “straight” people. He’s definitely an extraordinary talent no matter how you look at it, and whatever his underlying sexual orientation. He’s just a GEM!!!!!!

Mostly my annoyance is that Rowling is changing his vision in the Mirror of Erised from his sister being among the living. It would have been some fine tragic character backstory that might have hinted toward his duel with Grindelwald and Aberforth and Ariana's subsequent death, depending on how they decided to present it. As for the business of robes, a few things must be considered. Firstly, that J.K. Rowling started writing the series with a spot of humor and ridiculousness in mind (then it grew and so too did the themes). As such, stereotypical wizard robes seemed a fitting match for the grandmaster of a magical academy. Secondly, robes (and tunics, for that matter) don't necessarily denote homosexual themes at all, especially in medieval Europe where such clothing was frequently in use. And now here one might say "but it's modern times, why bother to wear such things?" To that I would say the same reason Hogwarts Academy is a castle rather than a modern boarding school. For that classical, medieval magic setting and aesthetic that we all know and love.
The subtlety in this performance is a study.

@@Chrisko1492 By subtle, i think the person is referring to the fact that the joke operates mostly on Jordan's wordless expressions as opposed to the skit resorting to verbalizing the growing discomfort his character is having at being outed; that's the subtle part. It would have been so easy for this sketch to taking the simple road of Jordan's character devolving into obnoxious fits of irritation at the cameraman following him while trying to defend himself as not being gay; but instead, it relies on really good, sharply-timed facial acting and exaggerated camera zooms. Surface level-wise, it's still carries a bombast of over-the-top absurdist comedy, but it's the approach to illustrating jordan's character's growing desperation to conceal his insecurities about being outed that's a more subtle take on a joke like this, which makes it that much more hilarious.
I agree, it’s a masterpiece of subtlety. It’s almost unexpected to find mainstream entertainment that complacently asks the audience to read deep between the lines and doesn’t hand the joke on a silver platter.
