One i reccomend is to try a "realistic" approach- 28 day seasons, less rushing in romantic relationships, have break-ups, don't do everything as a young adult- who has their dream job at 23? Also, i reccomend getting rid of the pre-made lots and either downloading or building new lots! The basic nightclubs get boring after a while!
I think people who embrace the sandbox, storytelling aspect of TS4 are the ones who get the most out of it for sure, I was inspired by family let’s plays like yours to start playing a family and just see where it goes, it’s been so much fun and I have barely scraped the surface of gameplay avenues despite my Sim graduating university, getting married, becoming a tenured professor and going to Selvadorada to become an archeologist.
When i played the Sims 4 for the first time, i married Bella Goth and moved in to her house, made Mortimer depressed and the kids lived on the basement to sell paintings.
I finally bought TS4 recently, and so I wouldn't get bored I have so many storyline ideas written down and a bunch of cool looking mods written down so I wouldn't forget it. Oh and challenges too.
After watching your Honeybrew videos I decided to use the calendar. Now my sims have bowling leagues, womens groups ( for gossip, wine and movies) poker nights, summer holidays, autumn camping trips, even snow days. It has made gameplay more fun, before my sims literally went from home to work and back again, rarely leaving their lot.
For traits, I always pick two “good” or “neutral” traits and one “bad”. One of them will be related to their aspiration or career or life plan, the other two sort of random. I don’t always pick aspirations related to their career. Makes it a little more interesting.
I would recommend rotational gameplay. And i would also recommend randomizing. Both using the button but also add numbers to for example the careers and use a random number generator. Third thing i would recommend is utilize the story thing at the start of cas and play with the sim you end up with after answering all the questions.
After cottage living came out, I use the simple living lot trait on every household I make! I don’t always get ingredients from a farm/ garden but i get grocery deliveries every ingame week! It just adds a little more realism to the game, and I think it’s fun. :)
I really like legacy challenges and stories, but I got bored really easily so I really recommend rotational gameplay, like another person suggested. if your family is all in one house, every sim week focus on a different sim. if they're all in different ones, just rotate between households! I also love using events and pretending it's for a holiday since I don't actually have seasons yet. I also recommend that if you really like the cas or building aspects, spend time on that! remake an entire town, make your own townies with their own stories! it's super fun
I use the money cheat to make the game more difficult. Making money is so easy, but spending it can be hard! Depending on how in depth I want to be about it, it can be as little as focusing on only big events (had a baby? -10,000!) to smaller things (want to join a gym? -100 per person every Monday with the bills, new season? -500 per person 'cause you know you need new clothes). And for diversity in traits, I definitely use that randomize button. One of my favorite updates ever. It helps a lot with story-play, even if it lacks in game play some times. Also, I really prefer to use generational homes if the families aren't too big. I don't enjoy rotational gameplay and I always have aging on, so it's nice to have a family manor (which sometimes has to be downsized because--oh, old things sometimes get destroyed--). And finally for my weird personal-quirk, I also use CAS cheats to keep NPCs that I love young and in the game. I've discovered that I lose interest when the broader world becomes NPCs I don't know and also that my game lags badly if there have been a lot of NPC deaths, so I both cull out unknown NPCs and keep known NPCs young.
Bitlife to Sims is definitely one I enjoy thoroughly but of course being a console player, a good bit can be limited without the use of mods and cheats!
when starting a game: build or find a starter house that you like, but don't add too much detail. later in the game when you have more money, go back and add a little at a time!! it's a lot of fun
I love making my family and/or friendgroup, making them as realistic to us as I can using traits and jobs (and in my personal case I do use loads of gameplay/personality mods), and then only actively playing with my own Sim. Trying to kinda recreate my life, or how I would've liked to see my life. Including indeed your number 1, the mundane. Favorite foods on Saturday evening, routines like bedtimes or working out etc. It really has helped my fun in the Sims. This goes for Sims 2, 3 and 4 for me btw!
I love doing mundane things in my game. It does make the game more fun and realistic. Also creating groups and clubs is such a nice feature that cohesively goes with other packs.

I usually pay attention to my Sims' aspiration tasks, career tasks, club tasks, whims, event goals, holiday goals, scenario goals and playable career goals. I may customise the Sims' cell phones and calendars and wardrobes. So, my Sims will always have things to do in the world.
I have fun by doing a billion things at once. Playing with multiple households is the only way I know how to play. Right now, I’m playing with my founder, his son, his son’s ex-wife, and his son’s ex-wife’s new boyfriend!

When I am met with a more challenging question, I roll the dice. 1-3: no 4-6: yes. Thats how my artsy pet loving sim ended up in a huge family! She dated her best friend who left her husband for her and brought three kids into the new relationship. This forced me to completely rethink my plans for this household :D I also dice for multiple options. Often I just take a look on the thought bubbles and figure out what they might say or think and implement it into the gameplay. I once matched two sims together and thought they were so perfect... but the thought bubbles seemed to tell another story. He was just not so much into her. So I diced what he would do. Dice said: cheat, fight, breakup.
I play no cheats all the time, and oddly enough it started when I started playing on the PS4. My computer messed up a few yrs back but i had the PS4 so i bought and started playing on there. On the PS4 the achievements are trophies that you can get when you play withought cheats. I have 3 more out of 50 to do before i get my Sims Gurus trophy. So excited, can't wait. I have had a laptop for a while now and I think once i get all my achievements/trophies on the PS4. I am going to do it on the PC. That is one of the ways i play my Sims.
Nice ideas! I only have base game with no mods or cc, and it's always nice to find ways to spice up my gameplay a little. I'm currently doing a rags to riches challenge and would like to try other things in the future!
Here are some ideas for storylines about families (no mods required since I myself am I console player): -The neglected toddler Make a family that consists of two parents with bad traits (such as evil, lazy, hates children ect.) and then give them a toddler. The parents both have part time or full time jobs and when they go to work the kid goes to daycare, no babysitters. When they are at home the toddler has to look after themselves - keep themselves busy playing with toys, put themselves to bed, eat food that’s sitting out instead of in a highchair ect. If they need a bath they have to ask their parents but sometimes, the parents say no and the toddler just has to be dirty. When they age up do the same - they have to do their homework alone and if the bed monster comes, they can’t ask their parents to make it go away since the parents don’t care. Try to make the child become a good person with many skills even though they were neglected in their younger years. -The hated child Make a “hated child” kind of family, where there are two kids, but one has high relationship with their parents and always gets gifts from them, while the other kid is always shouted at. You could start from the kids being toddlers and live through their whole lives to see how they turn out. -The perfect sim Make a perfect child. What I mean is, live through their life trying to make them have high skills and live a pretty perfect life. Their parents could shout at them a lot and have high expectations, but could also just be kind and caring. Some examples of making the child perfect would be: (As a toddler): Having all the skills up to level 3 or higher, making 2/3 friends, not falling into tantrums (As a kid): Having an A at school, knowing how to play an instrument, spending their time doing things like reading (As a teen): Not playing video games but studying instead, having quite a few friends but not doing crazy stuff with them like going to parties, not having a boyfriend or girlfriend (Young adult+): Marrying before having kids then having at least two of them, having a well paid job and a rather big house, completing your aspiration -Best friends to lovers It’s quite a typical plot for teen sims to meet someone, become friends, start dating them and then getting married, BUT to make it more interesting you could do two toddler sims that become friends from the youngest years. They go to school together, meet up every day, attend each others birthdays ect. all through their childhood, then as they get older they start to see each other in a romantic way. However, you could also spice this up by eg. adding that one of the sims is cheating on the other, or what if one dies and the other has to cope with the loss.
I think its really important to try out new stuff like new jobs, new activities or just a new house style for some difference. I always make the same family what makes it kinda boring and a little annoying
I use cheats to make my game harder like setting money to zero. Usually my Sims have no regular job. There are so many different ways making money without a carreer. I like building my own worlds. I have a savefile with empty lots and start from zero to fill the neighbourhouds.

if anyone loves all forms of gameplay in ts4 i recommend making your own save file. so you get to build lots, make characters, make houses for those sims, give those sims some lore and backstory. and there ya go now you have a save file you can use anytime you want to make a new save with all those neighbors and families
I like to give my Sims a wide field of interest. I dont give the guitarist the creative trait + music lover trait + the music aspiration. Instead the guitarist might be a cook that plays the guitar in the park for tips on the weekend and goes to the geek-con, because they love to play video games :)
I play a long life span reality TS4 gameplay, it’ so fun! I get attached at my sims and what’ fun is that I’m waiting for the generations of the family. If you ask me how I do this you need the packs (University and City Living) It’s fun if you have those because you can start with one sim and make them study first then live in an apartment. Then I will build a house and use my sims degrees as the money maker. (I’m currently at my relaxed state because my toddlers are fine now and about to go to kid form)
I know I'm late but ive tried this one out and it's pretty good,so if you have cc specifically alpha delete all of it I know weird but if you delete all of it and start getting maxis match it'll be like trying something new also delete all your saves which I've done I know what it's like hoarding twenty saves saying you'll play them again but you won't,also with the getting rid of alpha cc it can be the other way around too ☺️
There's one use of cheats I think is quite fair. If a Sim was created as a Young Adult or older, they missed out on childhood Traits they would have otherwise gotten had you had the chance to raise them yourself. Cheating to give them the Traits and Satisfaction Points they would have gotten, if they had the opportunity to be children, is something I do pretty regularly when I create adult Sims from scratch.
I agree with the challenges part. I have been LOVING playing the not so berry challenge (again cause I was on the last generation then my saves got deleted 🙄😭)
when you aid to tell a story in it. it made me want to make a world based on my favoraite show. Another cool idea is to put all your ocs (charecters you have made before) and it doesnt even have to be sim ones- put them all in the same house. Or your kins.

Something that I saw someone comment on another video is if you have a child check when their birthday is and if they’re near there change up their style! Kids go through changes once they’re preteens so it’s more real. Edit: I wanted to not use cheats but- I started a new house and used some gallery sims and I had 705 simolens- HOW I’m I supposed to work with this
I made a Little Rich Family with 2 parents and a teenage daughter. I got the teenager to fall in love with a guy in her class but the mother feels her husband isn’t giving her attention so she gets drunk while her daughter’s boy is staying over and when the daughter goes out for a jog she sleeps with her boyfriend and gets pregnant.
I already don't use cheats cause I'm a sucker for PS4 achievements and when I finally got stuck into a family to use for the alphabet legacy achievement my Sims won the lottery after about a month😂 Luckily it still isn't boring for me, just don't need to worry about career income now
I think I try them. A few months ago I started playing sims 3 again because sims 4 is boring. But my head keeps telling me "you spend so much money on that game!". Plus I keep thinking about the new expansion pack.

My favourite pack of all time is Seasons, I couldn't recommend that one more! It not only adds seasons but also holidays and holidays is how I make my game interesting. 💜
Sorry to bother, but do you know of any Base Game save files? I don't have all the packs I think I have like 4 expansions 3 game packs a few kits and 5 stuff packs, and I haven't found any save files that work with just base game
As of right now I'm not sure if I know of any good base game only save files! If I ever do find one I'll probably make a video overviewing it as we definitely need more base game save files. ❤️
I don’t recommend the gallery sims the pots are awesome but when you create and spend time making your sims it makes it easier to get attached. You don’t know anything about those fakery sims except their traits and whatever other info was given to you in the description.
Yes I was going to the gallery to get a family and I saw this cute bass family and when I got it and I put it in a house I got like $300,000 I do not know how that happened

I turn off aging and use a birthday cake to age them up when I think they're ready to move on. More control and less stress that way.

if anyone loves all forms of gameplay in ts4 i recommend making your own save file. so you get to build lots, make characters, make houses for those sims, give those sims some lore and backstory. and there ya go now you have a save file you can use anytime you want to make a new save with all those neighbors and families
I like to give my Sims a wide field of interest. I dont give the guitarist the creative trait + music lover trait + the music aspiration. Instead the guitarist might be a cook that plays the guitar in the park for tips on the weekend and goes to the geek-con, because they love to play video games :)
I play a long life span reality TS4 gameplay, it’ so fun! I get attached at my sims and what’ fun is that I’m waiting for the generations of the family.
If you ask me how I do this you need the packs (University and City Living) It’s fun if you have those because you can start with one sim and make them study first then live in an apartment. Then I will build a house and use my sims degrees as the money maker. (I’m currently at my relaxed state because my toddlers are fine now and about to go to kid form)
I know I'm late but ive tried this one out and it's pretty good,so if you have cc specifically alpha delete all of it I know weird but if you delete all of it and start getting maxis match it'll be like trying something new also delete all your saves which I've done I know what it's like hoarding twenty saves saying you'll play them again but you won't,also with the getting rid of alpha cc it can be the other way around too ☺️

There's one use of cheats I think is quite fair. If a Sim was created as a Young Adult or older, they missed out on childhood Traits they would have otherwise gotten had you had the chance to raise them yourself. Cheating to give them the Traits and Satisfaction Points they would have gotten, if they had the opportunity to be children, is something I do pretty regularly when I create adult Sims from scratch.
I agree with the challenges part. I have been LOVING playing the not so berry challenge (again cause I was on the last generation then my saves got deleted 🙄😭)

when you aid to tell a story in it. it made me want to make a world based on my favoraite show. Another cool idea is to put all your ocs (charecters you have made before) and it doesnt even have to be sim ones- put them all in the same house. Or your kins.

Hello, I love this video. I have a question and request. Have you ever managed the toddler event? I have the toddler pack but haven't managed to ever find another family with a toddler to complete it. My request is can you make a video about how you run the flower shop as I love this idea!

Something that I saw someone comment on another video is if you have a child check when their birthday is and if they’re near there change up their style! Kids go through changes once they’re preteens so it’s more real.
Edit: I wanted to not use cheats but- I started a new house and used some gallery sims and I had 705 simolens- HOW I’m I supposed to work with this
I made a Little Rich Family with 2 parents and a teenage daughter. I got the teenager to fall in love with a guy in her class but the mother feels her husband isn’t giving her attention so she gets drunk while her daughter’s boy is staying over and when the daughter goes out for a jog she sleeps with her boyfriend and gets pregnant.
I already don't use cheats cause I'm a sucker for PS4 achievements and when I finally got stuck into a family to use for the alphabet legacy achievement my Sims won the lottery after about a month😂
Luckily it still isn't boring for me, just don't need to worry about career income now

I think I try them. A few months ago I started playing sims 3 again because sims 4 is boring. But my head keeps telling me "you spend so much money on that game!".
Plus I keep thinking about the new expansion pack.

I dont know what to do cause my sims is breaking cause at first i just could feed my todlers through the high chair but now tall my sims needs dont go up no matter what i do so i cant lay the game cause if i do they’ll die soon do you know whats going on????
basically EVERY sim household i do i have them have an affair or cheating, it makes it so much more interesting, i breach it a bit because some of the sims i use wouldnt do that buuut

Which packs would you recommend buying? I've got University and Parenting, but I've noticed I get bored easily when I play with sims who don't go to college or have no kids
My favourite pack of all time is Seasons, I couldn't recommend that one more! It not only adds seasons but also holidays and holidays is how I make my game interesting. 💜

Sorry to bother, but do you know of any Base Game save files? I don't have all the packs I think I have like 4 expansions 3 game packs a few kits and 5 stuff packs, and I haven't found any save files that work with just base game
As of right now I'm not sure if I know of any good base game only save files! If I ever do find one I'll probably make a video overviewing it as we definitely need more base game save files. ❤️

I don’t recommend the gallery sims the pots are awesome but when you create and spend time making your sims it makes it easier to get attached. You don’t know anything about those fakery sims except their traits and whatever other info was given to you in the description.
