    Also, I believe in you. don't doubt yourself. I admire you so much, and I know so many other people do.
    I look forward to working on my comic and to reading yours

    I've never considered taking up sport again or exercising, but now that you made me think about it, I realised that it could actually solve or at least help with a lot of my problems. Thank you so much for talking about it! I'll definitely try it(and my dog will love going outside for a run with me :D )
    And I loved the little snippet of worldbuilding, I can't wait to find out more about it!

    Thank you! Im going to make more of an effort to do some more consistant exercise. I've been trying to do some since i've heard of the benefits for artists, which is why i've been trying. I've also may have also gained some extra weight I might be trying to loose or at least not gain more. Its weird since every time I do exercise, I have noticed im just more focused and productive that day and a day or two after. Im gonna try more since im serious is focusing and improving in art. Seeing your work really inspires.

    I completely understand the exercise thing. In high school I hated it, but in college we where allowed to choose what we wanted to do so I liked it more. And now after years I finally started at a gym, which I really enjoy. And especially since I have been sick for over a year I really need it to get myself back together a little more

    Your artwork has an amazing amount of detail and layers mixed in. I love it. My question for you is, how do you your ideas about what to add to your illustrations? My art has been limited. Like, I want to add more details and stuff so that its more like an aesthetic but I don't know how to do that. Any thoughts? Also, I like your thoughts. Honestly ramblings of an artist is also so relatable so don't mind being yourself for us ;)

    It feels so good watching you do traditional! I'm struggling a lot these days about my visual identity, after half a year doing almost only digital art and kinda losing my own style in it. So I had the courage to pick my pencils watching this and it felt good :) I also love hearing you talk about your comic process and motivation etc, I think that's something most artists suffer about but we don't hear often that kind of talk. It feels good! Ty :)

    You are one of my favourite artists and listening to you talk about how you're feeling and how it makes you engage with your work and your dreams is super relatable.
    Also one of the things that has made me the angriest I've ever been in my life is realising that exercise makes me happy, productive and literally more stable. How infuriating! Lemme go exercise omg

  • @ashleynicoleandrus3981

    I really appreciated this video. It was completely different than your other tutorial or walk-through videos. I understand well how depression can be a creative block. You're doing the right thing, one thing at a time, and that's enough. I think the best thing you could do with your comic is write out an outline of the big events from prologue, to beginning, building, near-climax, ect., and work with the literary formula when doing so. Starting a comic without an idea of how it's gonna end(or only have an ending and no middle!) will make it much more difficult when you have to come up with stuff on the fly.
    By the way, babes, this video felt like a talk with an old friend. Thank you for posting this video in particular.

    Like some of the other comments say, we believe in you, if that’s helpful at all. 😅 I know it has to come from yourself and not others, but I like your attitude that if you just keep doing what you’re doing, you can kinda fool your brain into getting the work done. Just *don’t stop* ;that’s what I’m trying to tell myself these days.
    Also, thank you about the advice to exercise! For artists, specifically, who sit for long periods of time, it’s really important to incorporate that part of healthy living back into your routine (even if you have a fast metabolism). I started doing it consistently last summer and I feel a lot more motivated to do other stuff than I used to
    Anyways, sorry for the long comment 😅
    Thanks for another chill video :D

    • @CosmicSpectrumArt
      @CosmicSpectrumArt  Před 2 lety +1

      Yess!! It's really interesting ( about the exercise) that eventually reframing it as a health benefit rather than a weight-loss tactic actually mentally helped me a lot. As it's supper common, i've struggled a lot with my body-image and perception and I think getting in a better shape after consistent exercising helped SO MUCH to feel in control of my body and what happens to it/how it looks to a large degree. I've always had a fast metabolism, but being 'skinny-fat' is what happens with that lmao. All bone and fat no muscle.. feels absolutely awful lmao.
      ANyway, tahnks for for the comment!! Ireally enjoy the longer ones xD And thank you for the encouragement, it really is very helpful

I'm also struggling with starting my own comics. My sister is a professional comic artist and their biggest advice is always "just start." Pick a scene you can see clearly and start writing there. You'll eventually find a groove and be able to work on it more consistently. Best of luck!!

    Physical exercise or activity is magic for your brain. I intensely and desperately miss it, so so badly.
    So all you out there, with a functional body. Don't let that experience slip through your fingers unnecessarily. It's worth the initial struggle, and you don't even need a fancy gym membership or expensive equipment. High paced walks, through nature definitely fits the bill. Your mind, your body, your mood. It will get enhanced on so many levels. It'll provide inspiration too. So go fetch it. While you can, and are capable.

    What a great piece! Personally, I think I can understand how you feel about wanting to start an original work when having other projects to do. You really put it really well: When an idea is left to cook for so long, eventually becomes scary to actually use it, because once it takes form it wont be as malleable like it was in our minds. To give it form is to give it limits and that's very scary.
    For what is worth, I think you will do great! You have worked in a lot of projects, and you know the process that you must take. I am currently still stuck in doing the script for the comic and landing some designs. I want to have five chapters ready before actually start publishing. It's odd how scared I get when I start to write the script but how natural it becomes once I do.
    Believe in yourself! You can do it! \o/

    Seriously, I can watch all your videos no matter how repetitive they are and listen about eveyrthing you want to talk about, because I find it very relatable. I'm an artist too so watching the other artist's process will forever be fascinating to me. I started a comic once and I was aware that it's complicated, but I didn't suppose there's that much you have to think about, especially when planning the story. I wish you all the best and I hope you will feel better in the ongoing months and that you'll successfully start the comic!

    This looks beautiful, I love the colors you’ve used on this drawing/painting. I love all the little details too. The story of your characters sounds so cool.
    Thank you for speaking about your experiences. It’s good to go after dreams, goals, and get money/wealth, but not at the cost of your mental and emotional health. You won’t feel fulfilled about life if all you are doing is worrying about outcomes and you’ll wonder why you’ve been doing all of this stuff at all.
    As someone who suffered through extreme burnout after years of work (art college), it’s difficult most days. I just have to remember not to be harsh on myself and take things one step at a time. And not try to perfect everything; I don’t want to be in that mindset of overworking with no rest; that’s probably why I feel so scared of working again. It made me feel doubts about my artwork too. I’ve learned that worries lead to a lack of self-worth and fear.
    So I get what you mean, something is still holding me back from going for the art I want to do. But something is stopping me from crossing that line as you said. Running away didn’t help either. I need to find the balance between work-life and having time off to do things I enjoy doing.
    I like your belief in everything working out no matter what we do. It reminds me of the law of attraction. It’s like you work for what you desire but do it in a way that brings you peace and joy. Let things play out as they will and know it will turn out well even if you have fears and doubts.
    It’s also nice to know I’m not alone :)
    Edit: I had to fix my grammar mistakes lol

    Hello , this drawing is amazing as always ! I am very inspired by you ! You are this one artist that i am never bored to watch any kind of your videos! I always struggled to understand even how to plan a simple drawing , not an entire project ! So i cant even imagine how hard this must be! I have this huge project idea in my head since i was a child and its my life's dream to make it into an animated series one day or a comic , i havet decided completely yet , but aside from that i heard you mentioned abt a QnA and I wanna ask generally about how you think about planning your project . For example the notes you give yourself , the schedules you create , the time you make all the designs , the layouts , the script and not only those. It is hard to balance your life when you are comitted in a single project so I wonder how often you exercise , how many hours do you work until you have a break , what keeps your sanity through burn out times and stuff like that . Thank you for being this amazing artist and person you are :) Keep spreading creativity!

    Also for the Q&A how did you develop your art style? What did you want to do with it and how did you keep it consistent?
    Maybe I want to know that because I'm struggling with four characters or maybe I don't. Guess we'll never know.

    I love these videos and have gotten sort of addicted to your channel for your art and for your talks. I think you share so much of what many of us are struggling through, regardless of our fields and circumstances. Maybe you've addressed this in a video I haven't seen yet, but how much of each character represents an aspect of yourself, or do you mainly pull ideas from people you know?

    I get that. I've been so busy with work related projects that I'm too mentally exhausted to work on anything personal. I've been exercising, but I'm not sure how much it's helping. How do you make art friends and keep engaged with them? Could you do a tutorial on using dip pens? I have inks and some dip pens, but I have no idea what I'm doing. Once again, beautiful illustration. I can't wait to one day read your comic. I also have been trying to work on a comic of my own, but starting is incredibly daunting.

    I wanted to say thank you and YES, I watch every video all the way through! When you share what is going on at the moment and when you walk us through your process you aren't just repeating yourself. Each one is not only helpful but, in my case at least, helps me feel like I'm not the only one hitting speed bumps of my making. I am OCD and severely introverted. I love what I do but often convince myself I can't do it. You help me through those times just as this video has. I was felling the same and admire you for sharing! You asked for questions: I am having difficulty getting ink to work the way you do. Are you able to take us through the process in detail, do a Skillshare video or recommend someone or other reference? Thank you again!

    If you watch a lot of Kung Fu movies, they talk a lot about "Being Centered." This is both for mind and body. They generally do their exercises, a "Kung Fu dance practice", which then generally gets their mind in the game, which then leads to them kicking the crap out of all of the bad guys. I have found this is true that while mind can lead body, body can lead mind, and even a few simple exercises can have a SURPRISING effect in channeling your thoughts in the right direction.... AND showers work great too!

    Question for the exercise tip:
    Whenever I work out, I tend to get sleepy tired more than anything else- I know that's probably not common, but I was wondering if that at some point was a problem for you?
    Usually my mind can come up with ideas while exercising, it's just I get too sleepy after to do anything other than write them down quickly.
    Edit: for the Q&A; I was wondering about which artists or favorite things you like to put or feel inspired certain aspects of your art you enjoy? (I guess easier said is what are some of your influences?)
    I personally love the vintage and ornate style you go between in your pieces and was also wondering if you had anyone else to suggest for inspiration in that does a similar kind of work.

Somehow this makes me feel not alone with my struggles xD And it inspires me seeing other artists just creating beautiful things. About the Q&A: Could you do an introduction to your Gloamingvale characters? Maybe the main ones? I'm also wondering if Sweet and Zero belong to this story as well. Also did You ever consider making a Patreon page? Where're for sure more people which would love to support your projects! And with Patreon maybe youo would feel more safe and less stressed?

    maybe a patreon would help to keep you accountable? you could start with posting regular updates x times a week (doesn't have to be comic pages right away, you could start with concept art and worldbuilding?). anyway, i love hearing about your work and also the struggles and how you deal with it 💕

    • @CosmicSpectrumArt
      @CosmicSpectrumArt  Před 2 lety +1

      I think that may be the answer lol >_> my typical excuse for putting off Patreon setup is being unable to settle on a structure and tiers, and deciding what to offer exactly. But i think it may really be the structure I need ;u;

    • @CelilasArt
      @CelilasArt Před 2 lety

      @@CosmicSpectrumArt i'm in the same boat and still haven't started a patreon. it's been an unfinished page for 2 years now 🤣 but honestly, you can always add tiers or restructure the tiers later. i'd suggest a low level entry tier of $2 or $2.50 (anything lower just pays patreon & paypal because fees for micro-transactions are so high). and that's that. just start with a "behind the scenes" tier for now, then maybe add a $5 when comic pages are being produced and more elaborate tiers (if applicable) later on.
      all the best 💕💕💕

    Thank you for sharing your struggles with us, I know it sometimes can be very difficult to be vulnerable. I totally get what you mean with exercising. All my life I have despised it, be ever since I have had problems with my mental health and know how exercising will benefit it, I have started going to the gym. And it sometimes is quit a hurtle to go, but once I am doing it and I am done I feel so good. I am more positive, productive and overall just am in a better mood.
    As for the Q&A: Do you have any tips for someone who wants to get back into art? I used to draw a lot when I was in high school and was pretty good, but college got in the way. Now I really want to get back into it, but I am just overwhelmed and don’t know where to start. Also how did you get the idea for your comic series?
