    Big fan of Houdini. As a magician, his tricks on stage were pretty mundane. His gift was in promotion and creating drama, mostly outside, gathering crowds. Later in life, he spent a good deal of time debunking spiritualists, exposing them as frauds. As a student of physical culture he was exceptional. He did spend a lot of effort to learn how to control his autonomic systems. And he knew the secret of all great magic...unrelenting practice. I always thought of The Mighty Atom as the world's first real life superhero. But Houdini would fit in there nicely too.

    Muscle control was not invented by maxick.. his book may have got a lot of popularity but muscle control was invented in east and not all but a major part of it comes from Hatha Yoga of which stomach vacuum is a good example ..what happened was west was good at patenting stuff and lot of eastern knowledge coming from many different disciplines was patented by west.

    • @TheBioneer
      @TheBioneer  Před 5 lety +4

      Yeah fair point! And tbh others had described it like Alois Swoboda (though he seems to have been a bit of a snake oil salesman). Still, I think the Maxalding method is what most people think of when it comes to muscle control. I’ll be looking at this much more deeply in future 😊

    • @Mr77ross77
      @Mr77ross77 Před 5 lety

      As opposed to now when the East infringes on inventions created in the west

      I would venture to say that muscle control is as old as physical culture, andMaxick just had his own paticular system and brand for it, relying on subtly tensing the muscles instead of performing complex exercises like gymnastics or yoga.
      his book "Great Strength by Muscle Control" though, I think was years ahead of its time. Maxick described the proper muscular tension to support heavy compound lifts in detail akin to a modern powerlifting coach.
      With Swoboda, I would be very careful as to who I believe when reading about him. There's a group online trying to paint him as the inspiration for Charles Atlas, when there's absolutely no evidence to that effect - and Atlas' exercises are likely derivative of the work of Bernarr MacFadden. Swoboda's workouts were basically push ups and holding your limbs super rigid and moving them in the air - which exists in karate's Sanchin kata and John McSweeney's "tiger moves" workout, though McSweeney mistakenly thought it was to build muscular strength.
      Sanchin kata is also just way cooler than the fitness guru arm tensing exercises

    The Bioneer he was also said to have trained Perception. He could walk fast past a shop window full of items and then recall with photographic like memory EVERY detail. From location to shadows, reflection and small print or number of items.
    i have done this type of training myself. Do this
    Get out of the house for a 10-15min calm walk. Try to notice everything. Reflections in the car mirrors, maybe you can see the drivers window inside the car what reflected in it, what is in the car, any scratches, how many, any special shade of colour, full detail of peoples faces, small dirt on the pavement behind the cars tyre, as you look ahead on the street normally notice the sky in your vision, what are the clouds like? -youre in holiday having a great time but canmot recall the shape of the clouds above you, on that magick moment? disgraceful ! - joking :)
    Also, COUNT, number of cars you see, number of trees, if you look down at some flowers how many flower or how many petals?
    it sounds like a waste of time but believe me, your brain will pick this up sooo fast from your first session you notice improvememts !
    the habits like counting objects, ie cars, will be learned asap as well
    you can turn yoir head to look at people and you need sooo little time to do it, that from their vision youre literally lookimg past them or had a nervous twitch and quickly stretched your neck bit in that time youve seen everything on them with photographic recall !
    Yes this spills into peripheral vision training naturally which is a nice bonus
    and Yes this is called VISUAL PERCEPTION
    William Watker Atkinson has a book on this stuff. I picked up years ago from one of his books randomly. You can also train mind/imagination perception etc. Actually visual perception should be last to train because youre increasing Input with it bit can you perceive everything on your mind so as to accomodate more input which requires more analysis to work = more thoughts! but like...natural subconsciouss processes that happen unconsciously or 'abstratically'
    and yes this can act as a form of concentration / samatha or meditation training...actually, it is martial meditation indeed. Can help with self control, etc etc etc
