    For some reason Gemma's been fascinated with trying to fly a paraglider backwards (or upside down?) so in between storms we managed to give it a go!
    As expected it's really hard and takes a long time to learn, not something anyone masters in one training session but she had a lot of progress and even passed a really difficult challenge by the end! Awesome day out!

    Gets a 'sub' from me :) This is one of those tasks which can be ably completed by those that have a quad-kite flying background (reverse launches etc).
    De-power kite flying experience can really help anyone wanting to dip their toes in the paragliding/speedflying world :)

    Many moons ago, when I used to race Lasers (sailboat), I'd start sailing backwards either out to the start or back to the dock...& never fail, there would always be about 4 of us all racing, as competitive as ever, placing our weight in the best spot, trimming the sail ~just right...ahh, those were the days... Your vid made me think of that...

    Have you got a tutorial about how to flip a glider that has landed leading edge down so you can take off again?

    Wow, good job Gemma! This is something I need to learn to do as I have lots of sand in my wing all the time. When it happens to me as a matter of course and I take advantage when it happens but would be nice to do on command at the end of a session.

    hiiiilarious. I know I always say it but the goofy shit and the sound effects are my favourite. Also the umbrella edit. Finally, that`s a pretty raw kite game you guys are developing there, pretty cool to see the history of it all on video ;)

    I would have gloves on (and have had) for directly handling the lines. Ha! Very good! I'm going to try that! Looks like trying to teach a dog to run backwards

    Love seeing my little Seed in action, as it gets quiet after Easter I will dig it out and really start my practice, even with laminar beach wind the wing is still a bit feisty, normal? Thanks for the fun go Gemma.

    • @AndreBandarra1
      @AndreBandarra1  Před 5 lety

      We were playing in a lot of wind, 30km/h plus probably. So I wouldn't consider it feisty under normal circumstances, but it is a fast wing because it's small and with short lines, which I think it's a good thing. When you go back to a normal sized wing everything feels in slow motion

    Nice try in the unstable wind. Too much brakes it turns into a wobbly arch. Excellent control though Gemma. Take Care Guys.

    Please, would you please explain us what´s the difference between a speedwing ( ski and fligh) or a miniwing in their behabiour? Thankyou a lot!

    • @AndreBandarra1
      @AndreBandarra1  Před 5 lety

      I'm not sure Gerardo, I have the same question! I was told that a Miniwing is just a scaled down version of a normal paraglider and works very similar, but a speedwing has different design features that allow it to fly faster lower different as is not the scaled down version of a full size paraglider. Hope it helps!
