It's a crime that no one even tried to bring this game concept into life again.
There's Thrive which tries to redo the cell stage
@@lixxark47 Thrive intends to cover all of this. Its just taking a long time to develop because its so much more in depth.
Yeah sadly maxis (the guys who made spore) got terminated by EA
Try out Elysian Eclipse when it releases, it's pretty much a Spore successor
I thought about this too with the video, it'd be sick if it was remade. But I also think Spore is literally why it's never been remade, it was such a letdown at the time.
As an enjoyer of the Space Stage, the final part of this video was hard to watch because my tears kept making my clown makeup run.
Lol
Don't forget we can make too much money from making the purple spice act as if it doesn't exist before vacuuming it when it hits the ground
Based comment both figuratively and literally.
If you don't enjoy the space stage you're just not autistic enough
In fairness, the real space stage for spore is Stellaris
4:15 That isn't the Steam version's fault. Spore has been crashing in the creature stage ever since it first released on disc.
Yeah, I remember this too. Just kind of a jank game that never really got fixed.
Or you can have my disc, which somehow managed to corrupt itself and I straight-up can't play it because it instantly CTDs on launch!
I've never played the game, but I've always had the impression that crashing is just simply part of the game and you gotta do as much as possible, before it bluescreens your computer..
I used to save like crazy when I played this game because I didn't want to lose my progess
I came down here to find this comment right when he said that lol. This game has a long, beautiful, frustrating history of destroying your precious progress.
The proper way to play Spore is to play until the space stage and then load up Stellaris.
Now I wanna play Stellaris. But like, Also Spore.
I could never get into Stellaris. My brain is just too small for jt
I literally bought Stellaris specifically because it looked like Spore Space Stage but fleshed out. I uninstalled it three hours later because it was too complicated for me...
@@voguishthrone5887
You could try Endless Space 2, it's a little simpler than Stellaris
I can enjoy a few hours of Stellaris but even if the galaxy had no other species it would still be so complicated for me.
Fun fact I learnt obsessively playing cell stage: you can actually pack the spikes at maximum tightness by first expanding your body as large as it goes, then shrinking them and getting them as close as possible, then finally, shrinking the body and making the spikes your desired size and pointiness
Using this in my next run
"ball of spikes" is my favorite cell stage strategy
The genocisaurus creating life all over the planets purely out of spite to genocide the Grox is hilarious, i love it.
I always liked that the friend animals that had currently joined you became your pets when you get to tribal stage.
And even produce food for you 😊.

Going from genocidal maniacs to the bringers of life and hope to the galaxy PURELY to spite other genocidaler maniacs is a hell of an arc
The ultimate redemption arc for every Spore Player ever: From killing everything to spitefully using the staff of life to stop the 1 penultimate evil group in the game that does it better than you.
Kinda funny how the "Saviors" of the universe are solely because someone decided to hoard the title of Genocidal Maniac, and the 1 thing that crumples their empire is the exact antithesis to said "Saviors" ideology.

Having max charge + sneak in my tribe was hilarious to see as I sent them to merc the other tribes
After all these years I still discover new things about this game
@@RynewulfI also saw something that tells you to build your creatures with extra arms so they can hold more tools, as well as extra legs for speed. No clue why this is the first video I've ever seen of someone using 4 legs.
But aren't the other tribes the same species with the same stats?
@@GlacialScion Nope! In the vanilla game, the other tribes should all be other species. Just don't ask where they all go in-between tribe and civ stage...
I just love how every non-Spore dedicated CZcamsr makes the same mistake. Just, naming the planet after the species and then doing it again once the actual opportunity to name your specieas occures
It does make it somewhat easier to see what save you're clicking on
This is the fault of the UI. The first box you get to enter anything shows a picture of your cell with the words "Enter the name of..."
So, yes. You enter the name of your cell.
Your comment is horrifying because it implies the existence of Spore-dedicated CZcamsrs and I wasn’t ready for that knowledge.

I really don't understand how we haven't gotten a Spore 2 yet. Spore is one of the greatest games from my childhood, and for many others too. It's such a unique game, with a formula that could be expanded SO MUCH with a modern release.
Answer is simple: EA
Darkspore was spinoff game they made after Will Wright left the company, and has been widely regarded as a bad decision. The reception was pretty lukewarm, and it had always-online anti-cheat. The servers were shut down, and the game can no longer be played legitimately. SimCity being released with similar or worse always-online functionality, by decree of EA, resulted in a botched release and publich backlash. This meant Maxis had released several flops in a row. Never a company eager to abstain from evil and destruction, EA "restructured" Maxis into non-existence. Now, Maxis is dead, Will Wright is doing nothing useful, chasing trends with talk of blockchain NFT-MMOs and AI driven mobile games, and EA is stubbornly sitting on enough IPs to furnish two dozen independent studios. Of course, since EA cares only about predatory monetization practises and evil, we'll never get a Spore 2 worthy of the name.

The fact that people can still make videos on this game just shows how good it was.
Spore is a fantastic game for how bad it is. I've spent so many hours collecting bits, decorating my tribes. And then I stopped playing because space is awful 😂

I still do that. Why are so many default species so ugly
I wonder, can you delete the pre mades? Like I know the game pulls from your characters first but I just do not want any of them
@@voguishthrone5887 i dont think so. I dont remember trying to do that, but instead I would just make so many custom races that it flooded out the defaults in the rng pool.
I always loved the space stage of spore. I had fun terraforming and interacting with alien races as a kid.
genuinely, my only problem with the space stage was that there wasn't more of it (as in, I did everything there was and wanted to do more, but ended up bored)
Well you were a poopy diapered brat sooo......
Na I'm just messing lol
it was my favorite stage back in the day but i also used about every cheat in the game
Same tbh
As a couple of other folks have commented I too am amazed and upset that this concept never got pushed further. Personally I would prefer to see a newer version of Spore that stopped after the global conquer phase but was more in depth with the other three main phases I've just always felt like the space stage was too large and complicated and separated from the main bulk of the rest of the game. Like cut out almost all of the space related stuff and instead add more stuff censored around your species evolving and changing and how the rest of the world interacts with that. Also just make the systems that are already there more robust and even grander with more options and more expansive possibilities and whatnot. You could also totally go a different route with it and make a game more centered on the space related section but that I think would be a whole different beast. As far as making or furthering Spore I would say focusing on the first stages are the more important options. Especially if the game were to be remade by a large enough group nowadays you could have a plethora of options for all different kinds of body parts and whatnot. I always found I ended up restricting myself to the ones that were most effective regardless of whether I enjoyed the look of my creature or not
The most easy way to beat the grox is to stock up on energy cells, a few colonies and watcher drones.
Every few parsec you go down, shoot down the ships following you and place a colony with a drone as a save place.
How has Spore never been remade? In fact... how are we not on Spore3 by now?
EA
My strat for dealing with the Grox was one I discovered completely by mistake. The very first time I encountered the Grox, I wanted to befriend them and, having learned that terraforming a colony's planet usually improves your relationship with that empire, attempted to bring their T-score up one. Needless to say this backfired immensely, but now I just go planet to planet terraforming and wiping them out.
Anti matter bombing runs are quicker
This is legit the only remake i truly want.

The Imperium of Genocinoseros
average Warhammer chapter
We need a new Spore. Kenshi just doesn't scratch my itch for the building of an empire comprised entirely of flesh-starved psychopaths.
I love the idea of a progenitor species who is only the progenitor species because they were wiping someone else out.
I have never actually made it to the end of the space age out of boredom. Good to know roughly what you get when you finally make it there.
Today's video is sponsored by our word of the day. Splendiferous (adjective): having great beauty and splendor.
My only complaint with AAs videos are that they aren't infinite, great commentary to listen to while I game, reminds me of a friend. Somebody that I used to know as a philosophically inclined man once said.

"I set out with this goal in mind as this species, and named it um, the Genocinoceros"
>*Names the planet Genocinoceros*
Stuff I wanted in Spore:
• Add a "sea expansion" se we could spend more time on the Creature Stage and with a different environment
• Add unsymmetrical character costumization during Creature Stage
• Expand the lore about the world and add an "exploration" phase during the Tribal Stage
•Make the combat mechanics more complex as the species evolves and becomes more intelligent
• Add actual armies to the Civilization Stage and allow first person POV
• Add first person POV
• Add something to make the later stages more interesting: politics, lore, exploration, mystery, an interesting combat system, literally anything

Encountering the Grox was like looking into a mirror for the Genocinoceros. After realizing the monsters that they were, they turned around and became an enlightened species spreading life instead of death.

Ahhhh spore. How I wish I knew how to prevent it from crashing constantly during the creature and space stage... Then again I think the issue with the space stage is that theres alot more going on than whats on screen so the games trying to process changing borders, all the different species loaded in, random events and so on. Overall Spore is fun, but I've long since upgraded to Stellaris for that 4k strategy itch.

"The angriest most murderous creature"
-makes a porcupine/rhinocerous creature (both are herbivores)
At least it turned into a horror out of the Book of Revelations by the end.
hippos are responsible for more deaths in water than sharks and crocodiles combined. A moose will not hesitate to gore an unsuspecting hiker. Rhinos can and will charge anything unfamiliar that moves near them. Predators, meanwhile, mostly sleep if they aren’t directly eating. Herbivores are absolutely more dangerous and murderous overall.
One thing I love about the cell stage is the changing perspective of "monsters in the background" and then you evolve to something bigger and not that background monster is now an actual threat. Evolve again, and you are eating them. Excellent use of scale
A sea Urchin. You started with a sea urchin. Honestly bravo.

0:14 - "Everyone's favorite intergalactic evolution simulator" - I have to admit it's been quite a few years since I played Spore, but as far as I ever experienced, you could not travel to other galaxies - therefore it's not intergalactic. You can call it galactic, intragalactic, interstellar, etc. But it's absolutely not intergalactic.
I normally wouldn't bother raising this point, but for a man as erudite as AA, it's much more shocking to see him get this word wrong. Or any word wrong, for that matter.

You may be the first, but you will not be the last.
As someone who spent a significant portion of my childhood playing spore & played really aggressive creatures almost exclusively over & over again, space stage is a lot more fun once your ship is completely decked out with all the nicest tech & weaponry. The Grox colonies are no match for a decked out ship that knows where to aim the bomb, you can easily destroy a city in one or two hits, after that you just speed demon away. Then you terraform the planet manually & spoil your new colonies with all the best stuff, I always kept a big stock of terraforming tools & specimens for this, the staff of life actually became redundant for me. If you know how to star swing to navigate the center of the galaxy quickly & efficiently, those annoying grox ships aren't really an issue.
Some species I made would simply ally the Grox, to the ire of all other empires in the galaxy.
I also liked using the hologram to spy on animals & explore the surface of baron worlds, as well as & populating planets with stupendously large numbers of epics. I'd go out of my way to have the most valuable & rare spices especially purple, often stealing planets from tribal stage creatures to get highly productive worlds.
The stages I liked most though were creature stage & tribal stage, I played this game before they introduced the patch that prevented you from killing epics in the creature stage. You could lead epics to your nest & then get them stuck, then you & your family would slowly kill it & then eat it. I also had fun sicking epics on enemy cities in the civilization stage.
Hm, more and more spikes.
Dodged a demonitization by calling this the angriest species, and not the Horniest.
Is this the new z¡onist DLC?
I figured out in my most recent playthrough the best way to play the space stage. First, you need to get the Zealot space tool. You can do this either by evolving to be a Zealot (you have to do two stages as friendly as possible and two stages as hostile as possible), finding another empire that are Zealots and become friendly and have them convert you, or if you have Galactic Adventures unlock all 4 Zealot parts in the captain designer.
Once you have the Zealot tool you can use it to instantly take over any planet. Then, buy a lot of monoliths and terraforming tools, terraform a planet in another system to T3, and place a monolith. Wait a while, maybe terraform some other planets in separate systems, and your monolith planets will reach the space stage. Most of them will have 8 cities which you can instantly conquer using the Zealot tool.
Instead of waiting for it to recharge you can just save your game and reload from the main menu, it will recharge instantly upon loading. Once you have enough planets you can make tons of money by just trading spice between your own planets. I usually have 99 of each spice type because most of my planets hold 50 spice and that's without the storage upgrade.
This is the only way i've played Spore since it came out
I remember I spent something like 200 hours trying to conquer all systems in spore. I don't remember exactly how many systems it was, but I do remember that I had completely dominated a spiral of the galaxy, and the prospect of having to do the same thing again was just... no.
Your calm sense of sarcasm is exquisite Sir ambiguousamphibian .
Imagine if you could use the staff of life to create your own species all over again and you could replay through the different phases with different species all in the same galaxy.
I love how you mention "our tale starts here" when the Genocinoceros first wags its tale!
Although Space is one of my favorite stages (mainly because of GA) I can fully understand hating it. Also, even though conquering the grox is very difficult, it becomes multitudes easier with Fanatical Frenzy and SoL. In fact, using Fanatical Frenzy improves your relationship with the Grox (as long as you don’t directly hit their colonies) since it’s considered breaking the galactic code. After converting a system, I’d recommend making Uber turrets. Like, a LOT of them though.

My favorite thing to do as a kid in the space stage was to de-terraform a planet that was inhabited and then claim it. And re-terraform it.
My trick was always to find a barren planet with a rare spice, terraform it to T3 and place a monolith, wait for a sapient race to reach space stage, and then immediately conquer it to get a rare spice planet with capital-world level spice production of said rare spice.
