  • Magnific's new 16x upscaler is a highly advanced tool designed for image upscaling and enhancement. This tool stands out for its ability to not only upscale images by a significant factor but also to enhance and reimagine the details in those images. It uses Generative AI to achieve these results, allowing users to add as many details as they wish through a guided process involving prompts and various parameters.

    A first glance the "upscaling" looks really impressive, but then it starts to fall apart because the text is wrong, there are random details that shouldn't be there, there are missing details you wanted to keep, the eyes can be really creepy if you are using photos of people you know and suddenly they have different eyes.
    I think we have to stop calling it upscaling though, because it just isn't, we need a term that means resized and re-imagined

I've found the best results with resemblance set at 2 (maximum 4), and with creativity set somewhere between -2 and +2. I don't touch HDR. The example you did with your portrait is almost certainly strange because of the high resemblance, which tends to introduce blotches.

    • @joelface
      @joelface Před 5 měsíci +2

      Seems like your contradicting yourself there a little. If you upscale a real photo it will have more realistic data to draw from, but you'll also notice the mistakes a lot more. It's hallucinations will all be different from real life. However, if you upscale an AI image, the advantage is that the hallucinations or details it adds may improve the image or make it more compelling overall. There is no "real life" version for it to deviate from, per se. That said, I think there are exceptions to the rule, and one of the coolest functions may be upscaling old artwork or something along those lines.

    Anyone here use Magnific and notice parts of large upscales (8x +) have out of focus errors using art & illustration. There shouldn't be anything out of focus for art & illustration everything should be sharp (unlike photos)! Wasted some big credits Not sure if adding a 'sharp focus' in the prompt will fix it. Otherwise, the app is pretty awesome but pricey!

    24:26 - Right? I also think they are way too expensive, I wish their basic one was not more than $10 -$15 per month but ignoring their high price tag I still think Magnific AI are the best AI upscaler out there, they're the current kings of AI upscaling, I'd love to have a true competitor of free AI upscaling that can actually produce AI upscales that are on par with Magnific AI but so far no one even comes close to their quality of extra realism of details it can give to images.

    "Upscaling" is quite the liberal term here. It's substantially changing the original image. In many cases completely removing important elements of the original. Like entire massive objects fully replaced. I think we need to describe this as something other than upscaling. That's not what it is.

    • @Skapo
      @Skapo Před 5 měsíci

      @@joelface Upscaling generally refers to when you add information between the pixels to make the original image sharper. This tool completely replaces large chunks of the images and sometimes gives you an entirely different image as a base. It's not an upscaler. @ciba20 is right to call it a restylizer. An actual upscaler would be like Topaz Labs AI upscaling tools. Magnific is not that.

    • @joelface
      @joelface Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@Skapo So you're saying that the upscaling is artificial?

    • @Skapo
      @Skapo Před 5 měsíci

      @@joelface No, I'm saying it's not upscaling at all. It completely replaces the image with a new one. Upscaling means that you add information between each pixel. It's the rough equivalent of making a vector image instead of a pixel for pixel jpeg image. With an upscaler you won't suddenly have a brand new face that replaces the old one. It won't replace planters with buckets. This is an image generator, not an upscaler. A true upscaler is something like Topaz AI. Adobe also has a couple new things they are working on. Magnific is NOT an upscaler. We should quit calling it that.
