17/18 Liverpool was the last time Liverpool was based around Gegenpressing bar sporadic moments in big games after that. But man, was it breathless football before Klopp shifted to a more control based team.
I believe klopp stopped this because of the toll it had on the players. But that Liverpool team was scary to me. Even the madrid teams in la liga over the years didn't drive fear into me like that Liverpool team bro. I'm a barca and city fan by the way.
The match when Coutinho already left Liverpool for Barcelona. However it didn't hurt Liverpool at all and it became the catalyst for the Liverpool resurrection under Klopp.

It was this very season, against Roma that he got THE injury that pretty much ended his career at LFC. Never really recovered from it. Was never the same. It's quite sad

It is only Klopp that dared to play a very proactive high pressing football against City. All coaches coaches before him: SAF, Mourinho, Ancelotti, even Wenger(though forced) constructed a deep block. After Klopp's arrival other coaches finally knew their was another way to beat City. Klopp not only defeated City but he demolished them utterly. What a coach you are Klopp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is from a barca/city fan. That Liverpool team scared the hell out of me each time they had the ball against city, because it was as if they could score at any given moment. That was the only team that bullied their way back into games against city. That's why I was more impressed when city won the prem despite losing against Liverpool. Never thought i would admire another team in the prem besides city at that time.

Title is odd. You could say the same thing in reverse on Manchester City bringing Klopp to his knees. It was more an amazing battle between 2 outstanding teams. A riveting chess match between 2 brilliant managers. Quality content!
2018/19 were peak lfc....just prime gegenpressing...sad they fell off and probably klopp might shift his style of play with creative players in the middle than mad pressing legs

What would be the differences that created each 90+ point season between the two. City and Liverpool swapping league titles as well as the cup games. Didn't really swap league titles... Happened once for Liverpool. Now that City has their CL feels like Liverpool need to get back a lot of those PL titles after this new rebuild.

Sure, it is possible that Liverpool will not be able to keep the same momentum throughout a season given the increasing strength from other teams, but the intensity against big teams will always be relevant in Klopp’s team, as shown during their defender crisis on 20/21 or midfield crisis on 22/23

Henderson would have been sold if Oxlade never got injured cos we had already bought Keita.
This was why I respected Henderson for not giving up. He fought hard to be part of the team but for some reason Liverpool fans believe Henderson is just as important which is so false. He's alway been the weakest Midfielder, they say he covers for Trent but the Right side has always been the weakness of Liverpool.
Henderson isn't even the top 10 of best Liverpool players in Klopp's era.
