- ALASTOR FINALLY SAID A SWEAR! Most unexpected and epic F-bomb in history. The dad song (lol) finally got Loser, Baby out of my head so that's good. I've already watched it like 20 times. The father-daughter song made me cry. This really was the dad episode, wasn't it? How is every new character they introduce AMAZING?!? Also HUSK DROPPING THE ALASTOR LORE?! Poor kitty someone give him a box to lie down in. I bet Angel has one in his room.

The biggest lore drop of this episode was the picture at Lucifer's place that showed Charlie had a goth phase.

If I remember right the creator said Lucifer lives in the Pride ring but he himself doesn't rule it as an authority. He IS the top dog of hell but he doesn't care at all about the sinners, only about his family.

Alastor is a control freak. He can't control Lucifer so that makes him mad.
Depressed by his own failures, he kept his daughter at a distance. When she reaches out to him years later, he at first tries to buy her affection only to learn that all she ever wanted from him was to know who he was, which was what he was most terrified to show her. Simply beautiful writing.
I do wonder if Alastor's whole "Dad" thing came from seeing someone else support Charlie, like just a "No, that's MINE" type reaction. Like, he's got ulterior motives definitely but it felt like he was being territorial over Charlie

And he knew that Lucifer was way more powerful than him so instead of trying to flex his power he tried to flex his relationship with Charlie. See how he easily flexes his power to everyone except that one overlord. And then with Charlie and Lucifer he takes a more emotionally manipulative approach since he can't power check them
All the dad talk from alastor + him and lilith disappearing at the same time + someone owning alastor all points to alastor and lilith having a strong connection (my own theory)

My theory is that Alastor made a deal with Lilith to gain power to topple overlords, now she owns him. In the pilot Charlie calls Lilith for help and Alastor appears within moments. He is also very accommodating of Charlie’s requests so maybe Lilith ordered him to help but he frames it as doing it all willingly. I’m worried he’ll get Charlie to make a deal and use her as leverage to be free of his leash

@@omgr3lly827 not really a plot hole. They disappeared at the same time but he still could have made a deal when he arrived. The reason they disappeared is just unknown. He could have acquired his power by other means though, it would just explain his rapid and inexplicable rise. Maybe Lilith gave him power specifically to remove overlords from the playing field without being directly involved? That’s a bit of a wilder theory but at this point who knows lol

The symbols are actually voodoo, alastor was originally from new Orleans, same as mimzy, based on her outfit she dressed as a flapper girl, new Orleans is very famous for voodoo practitioners, Alastor was born in somewhere in the 1900's and he was killed in 1933, I hope this helps.
My theory for the ducks is that he was fixated on the moment Charlie first laid eyes on one of his creations, the part where she sneaked in while he was working, and so he held on to that memory of her smile despite being estranged for a long time. There's also that line he sings, "I've missed that smile."
I am so glad they made Lucifer such a caring dad. Sure he's kind of a doofus who isn't exactly good at this, but he is legit trying and does truly love Charlie. Also Hearing Alastor use profanity is GOLD. That’s how you know he’s really upset because nobody really gets to him.
My theory’s are; maybe alastor feels threatened by Lucifer cause he grew attached to the hotel enough that he actually feels protective over Charlie. However, I do think he’s a amazing gaslighter and has the history of trickery, so my second theory is that a contract was made between him and lillith either over him protecting Charlie or something else and he needs Charlie to get rid of it for him so he’s trying to get close to her so she could possibly get rid of her moms contract

I think Alastor was upset Lucifer appeared because it was another powerhouse suddenly dropping in, overpowering his influence. He knows he can’t beat Lucifer in a fight, so he uses Charlie in his manipulation tactic- picking at Lucifer like “hey. I’ve been here this whole time. Where were you?”

About the leash. All the hieroglyphs that appear around Alastor refer to the voodoo gods. So it is quite natural that he is their obedient servant, for which he receives powers that allowed him to immediately rise in the hierarchy of hell

My takeaways from this episode: 1. I think Lilith is the one who gave Alastor his power to use him to deal with the more overtly violent Overlords

See, I keep hearing number 4 get tossed around... Except it makes literally not a damn lick of sense. The moment he tries anything, she just kills him, assuming she is the one holding her leash. And if he in any way poses a threat to Charlie, Lucifer will immediately wipe him from existence.

There is no history. Al's eye twitch was when Charlie was hugging Lucifer. He's jealous over her calling him in to help. People speculate he actually is starting to care but I'm not sure I agree. I think it's just a hit to his ego that he used to be one of the most feared overlords and now his absence for 7years has made him be forgotten by most. There's also the fact that he and Lilith have been gone the same amount of time (7 years) and with Husk saying Al is also on a leash? I suspect it may be Lilith's. And that's why he showed up, unprompted, in the pilot episode.
Edit: 16:53 no, that's supposed to be Vèvè (symbolism used in Voodoo practices). Alastor was a radio dj in 1930's New Orleans and a cannibalistic serial killer. He also practiced Voodoo though which is why Viv used ACTUAL Vèvè in the Pilot episode. However, people got so upset at her using it because Voodoo has been demonized for so long that she made random symbols for the actual show. But it's still supposed to evoke the imagery of Vèvè.
To add to the pile, when Alastor shows up in pilot episode? Right after Charlie called her mom for help and advice, telling that she needs support and boom! Alastor shows up like 10 seconds later!)

I think Alastor knows he can’t match Lucifer in power but he CAN use Charlie to get under his skin.
They don’t have a direct history but Alastor has a severe inferiority complex so he’s using whatever weapon he can to get to Lucifer. Lucifer loves his daughter and is threatened by this imposter trying to take her away, he’s just been so afraid he’s not reached out to her. Damn it’s such good writing!

Lucifer Morningstar is finally here and my theory about Alastor, Vaggie and Lute has finally come true.
Alastor has immediate beef with Lucifer because he knows he surpasses him in power. Greatly. Alastor doesn't like not having control of the situation, so he pinpoints Lucifer's one insecurity and relentlessly pokes at it because that's about all he can do.
The reasone Alastor hates Lucifer even before meeting him might be because he is close enough to Lilith that she talked to him about her ex in a bad light.
Or the more likely reason that he doesn't like people above him

I theorize, like many, that Lilith is planning something against heaven but it is so risky that she had to move away from Charlie and separate herself from Lucifer. But she still cares and knowing how innocent Charlie is, she sent Alastor to be her daughter's guard dog
I believe this because she looks at Lucifer and everything that is implied. He's a bitter guy, still in shock about the "end" of his great love, drepessive and doesn't know how to talk to his daughter but he still loves Charlie very much. and there is nothing that suggests that Lilith was a bad mother or companion for them
and Alastor has courage, he may have a fondness for Charlie but for me he was just trying to irritate Lucifer. courageous considering the certainty that Lucifer must be levels above him

Also I love seeing so many youtubers' reactions to Alastor's "f*ck you" line. everyone seems to just die laughing and I love it.
Part of me felt like this was really personal from the beginning and has a multiple layers. What really gets me is when Alastor says "Sadly there are times a birth parent is a dud," I think he's saying it partly because while he does want to stick it to Lucifer and gain Charlie's trust to get that deal, he also might have his own issues from when he was alive with his biological father. The part when Lucifer makes all those digs clearly not acknowledging Alastor and his efforts at all and then tops it all of by saying "It's not very clever," when referring to the name of the Hotel must have been a particularly sore spot for Alastor, friggin' ALASTOR, to swear.
Those are words a parent who believes nothing you do is ever good enough would say to their child who goes above and beyond to try to be good enough, extraordinary enough, *entertaining* enough to get their parents' attention. We've seen how Alastor has a way with words. Being clever, witty, and having a vast vocabulary keeps things interesting when you're a radio host and he clearly was proud of naming the hotel himself. It makes sense too why when he went to the Overlord meeting it made him twitch when Carmilla didn't express any interest/care when he showed up. If the Vs were no one who mattered, why would Alastor bother to confront Vox at all in episode 2? Despite the bad blood, Vox, albeit unintentionally, gave him the acknowledgment and attention he craved.
He's trying better than Lilith she didn't even contacted charlie at least Lucifer contacts her and seeing ''more than anything'' charlie's part it seems Lilith wanted them apart
Charlie said in the pilot that her dad taught he “you don’t take shit from other demons.” So I just take it that Lucifer pushes back at Alistor.

See, my theory is alastor made a deal with lillith for his absurd power right off the bat, which explains how he manifested and just started taking out overlords. However lile Husk or Angel, he cant deny orders from the one who owns his soul. If it is Lillith she clearly sent him to help and protect Charlie with the hotel.
I'm definitely on board with this theory because even in the pilot, who shows up right after Charlie leaves that voicemail for her mom? Alastor. What I'm curious about is how does Husk know Alastor made a deal with someone else? Did Alastor try to disobey an order and the chain was briefly revealed and Husk saw it?
7:23 I haven’t seen beyond this episode but my theory is allistair is involved with Lilith he’s been missing the same amount of time she has and now he’s back to help Charlie with her hotel not to mention what husk says to him about being on a leash
I think his comment of she hadent called him in years, says a lot about their relationship. He seamed so trapped, alone in his workshop, I bet when the angels decided to start the exterminations that they threted to kill Charlie if he got in there way, Adam implide she was only safe because of her father.

sins both alastor and lilith have been missing for 7 years, my first thought when the first song got going was that maybe alastor get together with lilith in that time. and his beef with lucifer is the stepdad vs original dad kinda thing, that might also explain why alastor is at the hotel in the first place. to take care of charlie even if he doesn't believe in the rehabilitation
or after husk said alastor was also on a leash that might mean alastor has some kind of deal with Lilith and thats why he is at the hotel to help. its gone be fun to see what happens from here
Split doesn't mean divorce. And since Lucifer is still wearing his wedding ring, I don't think they're actually divorced. Also, Alastor is asexual. So I HIGHLY doubt anything sexual is happening. At least not canonically
Norice how Alastor always tried to be above the person he is talking to, in case of Husk and other its simple , he flexez his power because he is way above them.
But it won't work on Lucifer since he's stronger than him, so he pick another subject he has the advantage .... his relation with Charlie , he has a stronger bond with her and uses that to one up Lucifer.
Alastor is pure pride, as if he were afraid of someone stronger, even if Lucifer is the strongest in all of Hell
7:03 It's likely that Alastor felt his ego being hurt the moment Lucifer completely ignored him, going straight from Charlie to Keekee and the two little dragons, usually people recognize him and say "Oh, the Radio Demon" and the King of Hell was like "Who?" He always seems to get upset when someone with a higher level of power (political or gross) than him makes light of it, like when there was the conversation with Carmilla and Alastor "You must be curious about my disappearance in these 7 years" and she replies "No really". I imagine that Lucifer just ignored him because he was very excited to see Charlie and Alastor took it personally.

Husk saying Alastor is one a leash as well...him and Lilith being gone for 7 years and Alastor just happening to show up at the perfect time for Charlie........I'm thinkin Lilith owns his ass and sent him to help her daughter. In the pilot Charlie calls her mom and mere moments later Alastor knocks on her doors, Lilith probably sent him to check on things and her daughter (the reason he was already "in the neighborhood" sorta speak when he saw her on the news) and then once she got the voicemail immediately ordered her scary little pet to go do whatever she asks of him.
Perhaps he struck a deal with her when he first arrived in Hell and that's why he was an instant powerhouse able to rival all other Overlords. Perhaps she's working on something and forced him along for the ride similar to how he's dragged Husker into being the bartender.
I think we might be overthinking the whole "leash" thing. After rewatching the episode, I feel like Husk was just referring to how Mimzy apparently constantly uses Alistor for his power. She definitely doesn't seem to be afraid of him, and I think in some weird way Alistor actually DOES value their friendship. But she just takes advantage of that, only ever seeking him so she can use him as a quick fix to her problems.
But that's just what I think, I'd be happy to be proven wrong. Lilith owning his soul would indeed be very interesting to see.
If it was just Mimzy wanting her to fix his problems he wouldn't have reacted the way he did. It's a secret he doesn't want anyone to know about, thus threatening to tear Husks soul apart and broadcast his screams if he even mentioned it. It's far more serious than Mimzy.
@@AuroraPeachy Is it a secret? Or does he just not like being told he's "on a leash?" Again, I'm totally fine with the whole Lilith owning his soul thing. In fact I'd prefer it. It would lead to a lot of cool possibilities. I just don't want people jumping to conclusions and then getting mad if it turns out to not really be a big thing.
I think Allistor does legit like Charlie, if feels she's incredibly naive, but the whole "you could even call me dad" stuff was just trying to assert dominance over Lucifer, since he hates not being the most in control person in the room, and Lucifer is one of the very few beings in Hell Allistor can't intimidate directly.

All I got to this episode is that my brain decided to categorize Alastor as the Fairy Godmother to Charlie's Disney Princess.
The Princess was sad, a magical being came out of nowhere and then decided to fullfill her dreams and wishes... except this is the hell version.
There are some fan theories revolving around Alistor and why he doesn't like Lucifer. It all revolves around why Alsitor is really helping Charlie.
Alistor is a really great character, but I think a lot of what he's really thinking is pretty easy to interpret at this point. He see's the world as predator/prey. He reacts the way he does to lucifer because so far lucifer is a rival in his world view. Most things are prey and so he plays with them with a smile completely unthreatened.
My personal take about his involvement with charlie is likely him gunning for lucifer and possibly Lilith as well. Lilith likely has his soul under contract like Alistor has Husker's. Another point of his mentality is that he is obviously a deer demon, so he's got his visual irony that hell loves.
Slight detail off alister went missing 7 years ago so he didnt die 7 years ago he died almost 100 years ago he died in the 30s

This was definitely the most fun I had watching the episode. I did not expect to love Lucifer, and his scenes with Charlie as much as I did. Mimzy was a delight to. Although I admittedly was not aware of her existence until this episode. I've not seen any other Hazbin/Helluva media outside of the shows. And I'm so intrigued by the mystery surrounding Alastor. Currently I think he's tied to Lilith, Eve, or both of them.
Hey Alastor's also a name in mythology over all. Like a demonic god. There also several incarnations of it.
And those symbols come from the Voodoo/Vudu gods.
So 1.) He owes his soul to the Voodoo gods for all the black magic he used in life and currently uses in death. (Not the BEST to owe)
2.) He is either WITH Lilith and that's why he was venomous with Lucifer ORRRRR
3.) He is under contract from Lilith and she ordered him to help Charlie out/keep her safe.
And hey they spent 7 years together. Who knows how close they are if 2 and 3 are the reasons for it?
Also Alastor has a strict no hurting women clause we got from the official comic "A day in the Afterlife" when he saved a woman from a butcher who was about to slaughter her.
You can also the difference in how he handles men vs women who tick him off.
Mimzy? He gently told her off while being firm. Never threatening her like we see with Husker in this episode. Plus he didn't even need to "act" since Charlie wasn't paying attention in that scene. He was being genuine.
You may not have caught it but when Mimzy was testing to see if he cared? His eye subtly twitched in annoyance and a faint rubber band snap was heard but muffled.
🛑 DON'T READ PAST THIS POINT ITS JUST MORE OBSERVATIONS I MADE ON ALASTOR'S BEHAVIOURS🛑
Vaggie getting in his face episode 1? He calmly laid out his rules and did something he HATED despite her rude/hostile tone.
Now look at Vox, Lucifer, and Husker? When they go at him he fights back just as hard whether it be verbal or physical. Even using foul language.
In episode 3 when he was tasked with looking for a humane way to ditch the eggs by Vaggie? He didn't hurt them or abandon them DESPITE them being the most annoying things he's probably ever delt with. Why? Because VAGGIE asked him to.
When he was initially miffed with Charlie & Vaggie forcing him to do a TV ad in episode 1? He STILL did it despite ruining it. Punishing them lightly.
And its been confirmed by Vivzie that he is a MAJOR Momma's boy. So maybe it rubbed him the wrong way how absent Lucifer has been on a personal level??
I mean. Vaggies been blatantly using an angelic spear since the pilot.

Alastor doesn't like being low-man on the totem pole. And when Lucifer walked in he was literally the 3rd weakest person in the room. His part in the song is him lashing out emotionally because he can't do it physically.
Those symbols are religious symbols called Veve! I'm not sure how in-depth or realistic the show will take the real-life practices of Louisiana Voodoo, but in real life, those symbols originate in the spiritual practices of the Yoruba people of western Africa, and then they also made their way into the spiritual traditions of some African-American and Afro-Caribbean diaspora communities during and following the Atlantic slave trade-notably, that of Vodun and its many branch practices (including but not limited to Louisiana Voodoo, Haitian Vodou, Hoodoo, Candomblé Jejé - known as Brazilian Vodum, Cuban Vudú, and more).
In those spiritual traditions, Veve are symbols used in association with beings known Loa (sometimes spelled Lwa), acting as a "beacon" during rituals and becoming the representative of the specific Loa they are associated with. Loa are not deities, but beings that serve as intermediaries between humanity and higher spirits/deities. Important to note is that Loa are each beings with their own personalities, areas of focus (ex. agriculture, love, etc.), likes and dislikes, and they are not "prayed to," they are "served".
Again, I'm not sure how in depth the show will get linking Alastor with Louisiana Voodoo practices, but those are real religious symbols used in that faith tradition, so its at the very least heavily implied.

🤔 Maybe Alastor feels defensive about his position being threatened by Lucifer. If Lucifer starts taking an active role in the Hotel, Alastor's influence goes down due to Lucifer being more powerful.

I think Alastor was upset Lucifer appeared because it was another powerhouse suddenly dropping in. He knows he can’t beat Lucifer in a fight, so he uses Charlie in his manipulation tactic- picking at Lucifer like “hey. I’ve been here this whole time. Where were you?”
