I think I'm either going to buy a 18-in doll Rapunzel dress from an Etsy seller or attempt to sew one myself. 😆 Overall, I think all 3 dolls are super cute, but they really are just another clear representation of Mattel's profit-or-nothing priorities with the brand. Would I get a Rapunzel doll if I had more cash in the bank? Yes. But would I prefer even more for Mattel to redirect this energy to the historical line? Absolutely!

I'm sure this has already been thought of but, why don't they cross-over Barbie to American Girl? Call her Barbie, give her a blond ponytail, enhanced her makeup.Her collection could feature some of Barbie's iconic outfits done to fit AG. (OK, maybe I'm making some Barbie collectors super mad!) But, I think it would be cute and fun! I would buy it! I'm currently not a Barbie Collector, but I adore her! ❤ She was the first doll I fell in love with as a child! I was saying this not long ago! It makes no sense they didn’t do a Barbie movie American Girl. Mattel owns all this stuff, so it’s crazy to me they didn’t do it! Definitely! I think it’s ultimately good for brands to evolve, but I agree that American Girl has gotten so far from the original Pleasant Company vision. Nothing will ever be as special as that 🩷
These dolls are beautiful. Rapunzel is my favorite and Jasmine next. I love both the Marie Grace and Sonali molds but I think the overall look and detail for these dolls are why I prefer them over Belle. Because actually Belle has always been the princess I love more. But $300 is not a price I will pay for a doll. I bought an Anniversary Molly a couple of years ago at $150. That's a more realistic price point. I think the historical dolls should be where the company puts more effort. Addy, Samantha and Josefina are for sale but they stopped making clothes for them. Why not put out pajamas for them? And sell those with the holiday merch? That's the kinda thing most parents would buy as Christmas gifts.
I agree, I do think Belle seems to be the least detailed. But her crown is SO GOOD! I wish SOOO BADLY that they would make new clothes for the original historicals. I would love to continue my collections!
Someone pointed out supply chain issues affecting the releases. It seems odd that everything released all at once, so maybe that’s why. I would think it would be better to have everything be once a month so each thing would have it’s own time, ex. Claudie’s collection having a month to breath, then Disney etc. I also heard the choices of princesses were based more on sales from Disney Princess line. Who knows. I am sure they will do another line.
You have a lot of good points! They can't afford to have stuff just sitting in the warehouse, so I guess it gets released as soon as they get it. I imagine you're correct that they picked Disney's current top-selling princesses. It only makes sense! Thanks so much for your input!
I’m only surprised with Jasmine because I’m a passholder and constantly at the parks and I rarely see anyone buying or disneybounding as Jasmine. I also rarely see her merch in general in other stores. But obviously Belle and Rapunzel are super popular always.😭

I'm fairly certain Rapunzel from Tangled is one of their most popular princesses these days. There's a lot of merchandise for her in general these days while you'll struggle to find Snow White. If they were gearing the collection to adults only they would have gone with their older popular princesses, such as Snow White and Cinderella. I feel that their choices reflect new but traditional Disney. They went for stable and successful characters. I'm 100% content with people upset with the line because I'm praying I can get them much more easily because I'm not a Berry Member (although I should be after a purchase lol). I think the collection is a well-rounded choice for adult collectors and for mom's who spend a lot of money on their kiddos.
Very good points! I think I’m definitely out of touch haha. It’s also feasible that older kids would receive these as a very special gift. I really think you have a great shot at getting them! The price point is keeping a lot of people from buying them, so if you’re quick, you should be able to get them. Fingers crossed for you!

My wallet is screaming at the thought of two but I have to try, hahaha. If I could only get one, it would be a tough choice because I love the elegance of Belle. I believe they captured that well, but I've taken to loving Rapunzel because she's a relatable character for myself. Rapunzel would have to be the choice for me :) Although I really do feel that Jasmine was beautifully done as well.
I also think Repubzel is the mire logical choice than one of the older princesses. The older Disney movies now have somewhat dated animation and story lines. While they're sweet, they aren't particularly funny or active. I can see that not really resonating with younger audiences who are used to newer, action packed animations. Tangled is such a charming and funny movie, even as an adult it's a fav. for me!
They are very very pretty, but I agree with you I wish they would focus on the historicals more, it’s what made them popular and honestly I feel like so many people would support more historical releases! When I think of peak American girl it was definitely the 80s and 90s there’s something so special about the way things were then! If I had money to spare I would definitely get Belle as she’s my favorite Disney princess but man 300.00 is so pricey 😅
I agree! I do think once Mattel took over, they were over-confident in the beginning and I think they changed a lot of the fundamental values of the brand. Maybe it was a response to a changing demographic - who knows. I just wish they could bring back some of the keepsake feel to the brand. It's what made it feel so expensive before.
I skipped the FAO doll because she just wasn’t special enough for me to justify the money. I do love just about everything about this release, and I gladly dropped the money to buy something. I was obsessed with Beauty and the Beast when I was younger (I owned just about every release VHS/DVD) and I also loved AG but my family couldn’t afford to buy from them, so it’s a really special full circle moment to be able to get something that childhood me would have dreamed of.

After years of buying Disney costumes for my 8yo, the dresses to me scream cheap satin. I would have loved to see richer, more matte/taffeta like textures than the shiny, more obviously polyester satin on all these looks. I agree the Swarovski placement is understated and tasteful, but overall these dollies just don’t look expensive enough to justify the pricepoint. Oh and the humongous window and cartoon emblem on the box is cheap cheap too and ripe for a Target shelf. The Disney Designer line, with its more discreet closed ribbon boxes, are super chic and would make this a truly covetable collection piece. (Let us poor peons see an open box on display at the store or the website but otherwise only the rich shall be able to open the treasure inside!) Anywhoodles, speaking of poor, I concur that having just the dress for even a slightly elevated price point (ie HP $45-50) would be awesome for us collectors who already have a company of TM or CYO dolls ready to play a princess. Okay your sewing knowledge is definitely coming through! That was actually a point I forgot to make - is that I’d personally actually prefer nicer fabrics and better construction on the clothes, rather than having the crystals. I definitely agree all the shiny fabrics makes them look cheaper than a $300 doll should. I do think the boxes themselves look great. They’re much thicker than the standard boxes, so I think the shape itself is great. The graphic design on them needs a little tweaking. I definitely don’t like the illustrations on the window - very overdone and cheap looking. Unfortunately because every doll is technically unique, they can’t have them be completely closed like the mail-order ones were. Otherwise, I’d be all about that! I need to start cussing more on Patreon haha. I feel like that’s the main attraction at this point. I’m just worried people have their kids in the room and I’m gonna get canceled 🤣
I agree! As a sewer myself, particularly of doll clothes, I do agree that these should be far better quality, especially for $300! This is one of my biggest critiques of AG these days, the outfits are just SO cheap! 😕 I really wish they had chosen better fabrics. I do love the embroidery on Rapunzel's dress but overall these outfits just don't seem high-quality. 😕 I understand that they have to pay for licensing fees, but I just wish they had produced better outfits. 😕
I love Jasmine's skin color given that Sonali was so popular and the controversy with the GOTY doll and her tone was not representative of darker skinned Indians. Skin lightening creams are a real concept in India and for some other cultures that are connected to India's British history of Colonialism and Trade. May also explain the Jasmine on the box v.s the doll offered. I do think all the dolls are very pretty. Not happy with the price, but lets face it...that is the price you would pay for a well loved, 2nd hand Sonali doll for realzzzz! We collectors know this is a real thing. At least this Sonali-like doll has a costume and is blinged out.😂
Yes, all very good points! I think that (for the most part) American Girl listens to issues like this when we complain about them. Jasmin’s skin tone being an appropriate color makes me feel like they’re listening to feedback that Kavi brings up issues of colorism. I think Pleasant Rowland was always interested in having her doll line be diverse. Götz (the company that manufactured the dolls in the 80s and early 90s) had almost no Black dolls in their product line before they worked with PC, so that’s why I think it took a few years to develop new molds for Our New Baby and ultimately Addy. Addys original prototype bloomers had the same trim as the first ONB outfits, so I think they may have been working on her as early as the late 80s. I guess all that’s to say, is I think representation has always been important to the brand. I just think somewhere along the way someone at Mattel thought they’d make more money if they made more blonde white dolls, but I’m really hoping they know how problematic and lazy that is. All I know is that we better start seeing more Claudie stuff!
These Disney dolls are soooo beautiful! Belle is just gorgeous. Theyre very expensive though. Maybe if they ever made Kida as an American Girl doll, I'd buy one, but I know that would never happen :')
I’m seeing a lot of Repunzel has the highest sales at Disney, but I’d have to assume that’s among kids, not Disney adults. I’m not a Disney adult, but I think it would have been nice to get “historical” Disney dolls - Snow White, Cinderella, and Aurora. Personally I’d want an Aurora or an Alice.
The more I look at these, I feel like Rapunzel is my favorite now. Most of us knew about all 3 of these characters as kids, but I feel like Rapunzel wasn't as popular until Tangled. If I had to guess, after seeing people's comments, I'd say she'll be the most popular of these 3 dolls. Alice would've been such a cute doll I think!
Another great video! Love the graphic design feedback on the boxes. I picked up Belle (nostalgia) and Rapunzel (also not a fan of the MG face mold, but the freckles and coloring got me). I do think $300 is a high price point for these dolls. I used rewards to get it down to $230, which I think is more reasonable. As far as my wish list, Cinderella and Tiana would’ve been top of the list for sure. 💖

I haven’t decided if I am getting any of these dolls. They are really expensive! I would have done Cinderella, Aurora, and Snow White. I would also like American Girl to focus more on the historical lines because that is how it all began.

I was so looking forward to the next doll after the FAO Schwartz doll, got her and love her! I am underwhelmed by these dolls! I think they are cute dolls,but in my opinion there dresses leave alot to be desired especially at $300, I will be passing on all of them. Hoping September is better!

Thank you for discussing the Disney dolls! As a book lover, my favorite character is Belle. As for the dolls, Rapunzel is stunning, Jasmine is beautiful in doll form - but I would choose Belle for nostalgia reasons and because she’s super pretty.
It’s so interesting to see how much more complex the characters are in the original books. I feel like I should go back and read them because the stories are so important to relate to the character (obvi so excited to get to know the Hoffmans better! Heh) Nostalgia wins me over every time too ❤️
And I forgot to mention that I wish they would have used a Claudie mold for Tiana. Or Corinne for Mulan. Or, as you mentioned, Halle Bailey's Ariel. Missed opportunity. At least they did use a dark skin tone for Jasmine as you also mentioned. I know a lot of people were upset that Kavi was so light skinned.
I’m definitely thinking about getting the belle doll! Out of the three she’s my favorite and I remember seeing the live action movie for my birthday when it came out. I do wish they made a tiana or aurora one just because they’re my favorite princesses/Disney princess movies. $300 is a lot of money but as long as the doll is of good quality and is one I like I think it’s reasonable(ish). I’m really glad Claudie finally got new outfits as well!

I feel like Jasmine and Belle look like regular dolls in costumes (especially Belle's, which looks very costumey). The dresses are so plain to me. I actually love the Rapunzel doll's dress! I wish I could afford her. But, as another commenter said, I could just buy a costume for an existing doll. They needed to do more to make the dolls themselves stand out more and make the dresses more extravagant.

My husband got Rapunzel for me for my birthday and I'm still impatiently awaiting her arrival. I completely agree on these red boxes.. you can still make them cohesive without making them all the same red color that clashes with the doll inside the box. While I do generally like these dolls, I think that they are modified truly me dolls and that is what I'm most disappointed about. At least the FAO doll was unique!
I think it would be really cool if they actually came up with a brand new mold more suited for middle eastern character or individual such us Jasmine. I love Sonali mold but I don’t think it’s working here. You are right, even Marie Grace mold would fit better.
I bought Rapunzel! And rapunzel is from the movie Tangled. I think the Jasmine one is gorgeous but I was too afraid of her not looking right if I bought her and not being able to exchange she was definitely not one I would go for with that price point. Belle is gorgeous but I wasn’t overly impressed with her gown. Personally I think Rapunzel’s dress has a lot of awesome little details at least in my opinion. I know everyone else disagrees and they think the outfits look tacky but her dress is pretty movie accurate with more embellishments. Edit: I just wish Belle’s dress was a bit more movie accurate like Jasmine and Rapunzel’s outfits are.
Congrats on getting Rapunzel! She is sososososo pretty! Def agree that sometimes the Somali mold can be very uneven. I would want to see her in person too! Rapunzel's has the most detail which is making me love her more. The flowers in her hair are soooooo nice!
I was lucky enough that my 2 favorite princesses (Belle & Rapunzel) were included in this lineup but I feel like they definitely missed the opportunity to go The Little Mermaid route with the movie just releasing and everything. As you mentioned, a Halle Bailey doll would be gorgeous and I would love for them to do both the original animated Ariel as well as the new one. I hope they end up releasing more down the line! 🤍

I also am concerned with the direction that American girl is taking. Yes I understand that Barbie is getting a lot of attention right now , but they just closed a bunch of American girl stores in Canada, and making the one in West Edmonton mall a Barbie store. As much as I love Barbie, I don’t want to see American girl fall by the wayside. Maybe they need to lower their prices!
I too worry that Barbie is overshadowing American Girl in the eyes of Mattel. I really hope they take care of the AG brand instead of driving it into the ground before selling it to another company. Finally Mattel made a right thing with the American Girl brand: have a trade agreement with Disney to make A.G. dolls inspired to the most famous Disney's characters maybe the right way to raise the brand (which, as I heard, had a sales decline in the last times); I hope it can work and relaunch this fantastic brand which, after the abandonment of Pleasant Company, has been the same not more.
Those are actually three of my favorites, though I'd also love to see Mulan, Moana and Mirabel (M's... ironic). Also Tiana. Elsa and Ana would be a big hit of course. I love the modern Disney movies! I won't be buying any of them at that price point, but I enjoy looking at them. 😅 The Belle doll's eyes are hazel, not green. I don't think they make the pinwheel eyes in hazel. It does kind of bug me because I distinctly remember Belle's eyes being brown! Apparently there's a whole online debate about that... AG hazel eyes aren't my favorite. I think they could be better, but as a person with hazel eyes, I was so excited when they first came out with them. A few other examples of AG dolls with hazel eyes are Cécile, Maryellen, Rebecca, truly me 55, and Nanea.

I’ve never been into purchasing the collector dolls, but I did get Belle. It was the first movie I saw in theaters and means a lot to me. I had a sizable reward, which helped a lot. I doubt I’d have spent $300! I think she’s so pretty and look forward to having her. I’m not keeping her in the box, though!

I think their nice , but I won’t be buying any, because I’m not a big Disney Princess fan. What would’ve been nice if they made the outfits instead of the whole doll, and create more of a variety to choose from, charge $50 . Do I think their to expensive, yes considering their all being released together, I am curious to see how they sell though.

I was really confused as to why they chose these three princesses. I guess I can kinda understand Belle cuz I believe Beauty and the Beast was the only animated film to ever be nominated for Best Picture, and it was its 30th anniversary this year, but the other two seemed odd. I was very glad to see that Jasmine wasn't white-washed and had the Sonali face mold though! I agree with you about her hair ties, those do not match the outfit, character, or the high price tag. I totally agree with you on Belle's crown, stunning! 😍 I also like the understated crystals, I think the dolls look far more classy with less adornment! I'm confused about the release dates too and very frustrated that once again Claudie will be overshadowed by these three other big releases coming out at the same time, makes her overshadowing seem intentional. 😕😥 I probably won't get any of them, too high a price. I am torn though because I dearly love Beauty and the Beast, but I also love Aladdin and want to support the dolls of color... I would have absolutely LOVED to see a Merida doll, especially with Outlander being such a big sensation these days! However, I am not at all surprised that that didn't happen, and know it is highly unlikely to ever happen, Disney, few Disney fans or maketing/entertainment companies don't seem to support her. 😥 And I am so very sad to see that AG is straying so far from what made it unique and magical to begin with. I am very disappointed to see that AG is just becoming 18in Barbie dolls. 🥺

honestly ever since you pointed out the painted on eyelashes ive been looking at the new dolls more closely and it drives me insane. it reminds me of the repaints where people go way overboard and the doll ends up having toddler in tiaras vibes. i really dont like the lipstick on these dolls either. i dont think the young and simple face sculpts of AG really mesh well with painted lashes and bright lip colors.
honestly, these dolls are ALL SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!🥺🥺🥺🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️i love them all so much. the rapunzel doll looks so good!!! all of them look so good actually lol. i love the addition of the flowers on rapunzel’s braid like from that one scene in the movie. but the belle doll is my favorite. i mean, she is my favorite disney princess, she always was even when i was a kid. the belle doll is GORGEOUS!!!! her hair style, her face mold, her eyes, her dress, EVERYTHING!!!! she’s stunning. i probably won’t be buying any of these dolls (at least not right now) though because i haven’t really started collecting AG yet because i don’t have a job lol. belle’s tiara is also so SO pretty and detailed and i love everything about it. her dress does look a little slightly plain compared to jasmine and rapunzel’s outfits, but i still really love her anyway. i want mattel to make all the disney princesses in AG form lol because it would be interesting to see how that would turn out since this set is gorgeous and i think if they made the other princesses, they would also look gorgeous too. and yeah i do feel like it would have made a little bit more sense if they did cinderella, snow white, and aurora, HOWEVER, i think them picking some of the most popular disney princesses (meaning belle, jasmine, and rapunzel) was a really good idea nonetheless. i think cinderella, snow white, and aurora would be absolutely gorgeous dolls if AG decided to make them

I really like the dolls themselves. I would however really like more historical items. I took business marketing in college and I cannot agree with you more that this is totally a money grab. And as much as I love Isabele and Nicki, they where also a money grab. I honestly feel like they are pushing too much stuff out at once and losing focus on the historical aspect of what made American Girl to begin with.
I bought Rapunzel but I'm not sure I'll buy the others really depends on how fast they sell out. I did just buy a Romina and I know for sure I'll love her. ❤
The jasmine doll is beautiful but her face looks nothing like the character or from an Arab decent! The other two dolls are a better representation of the characters.
Yeah... I think I'm either going to buy a 18-in doll Rapunzel dress from an Etsy seller or attempt to sew one myself. 😆 Overall, I think all 3 dolls are super cute, but they really are just another clear representation of Mattel's profit-or-nothing priorities with the brand. Would I get a Rapunzel doll if I had more cash in the bank? Yes. But would I prefer even more for Mattel to redirect this energy to the historical line? Absolutely!

I was saying this not long ago! It makes no sense they didn’t do a Barbie movie American Girl. Mattel owns all this stuff, so it’s crazy to me they didn’t do it! These dolls are beautiful. Rapunzel is my favorite and Jasmine next. I love both the Marie Grace and Sonali molds but I think the overall look and detail for these dolls are why I prefer them over Belle. Because actually Belle has always been the princess I love more. But $300 is not a price I will pay for a doll. I bought an Anniversary Molly a couple of years ago at $150. That's a more realistic price point. I think the historical dolls should be where the company puts more effort. Addy, Samantha and Josefina are for sale but they stopped making clothes for them. Why not put out pajamas for them? And sell those with the holiday merch? That's the kinda thing most parents would buy as Christmas gifts.
I agree, I do think Belle seems to be the least detailed. But her crown is SO GOOD! I wish SOOO BADLY that they would make new clothes for the original historicals. I would love to continue my collections!
Someone pointed out supply chain issues affecting the releases. It seems odd that everything released all at once, so maybe that’s why. I would think it would be better to have everything be once a month so each thing would have it’s own time, ex. Claudie’s collection having a month to breath, then Disney etc.
I also heard the choices of princesses were based more on sales from Disney Princess line. Who knows. I am sure they will do another line.

I’m only surprised with Jasmine because I’m a passholder and constantly at the parks and I rarely see anyone buying or disneybounding as Jasmine. I also rarely see her merch in general in other stores. But obviously Belle and Rapunzel are super popular always.😭

I'm fairly certain Rapunzel from Tangled is one of their most popular princesses these days. There's a lot of merchandise for her in general these days while you'll struggle to find Snow White. If they were gearing the collection to adults only they would have gone with their older popular princesses, such as Snow White and Cinderella. I feel that their choices reflect new but traditional Disney. They went for stable and successful characters. I'm 100% content with people upset with the line because I'm praying I can get them much more easily because I'm not a Berry Member (although I should be after a purchase lol). I think the collection is a well-rounded choice for adult collectors and for mom's who spend a lot of money on their kiddos.
Very good points! I think I’m definitely out of touch haha. It’s also feasible that older kids would receive these as a very special gift. I really think you have a great shot at getting them! The price point is keeping a lot of people from buying them, so if you’re quick, you should be able to get them. Fingers crossed for you!

My wallet is screaming at the thought of two but I have to try, hahaha. If I could only get one, it would be a tough choice because I love the elegance of Belle. I believe they captured that well, but I've taken to loving Rapunzel because she's a relatable character for myself. Rapunzel would have to be the choice for me :) Although I really do feel that Jasmine was beautifully done as well.

I also think Repubzel is the mire logical choice than one of the older princesses. The older Disney movies now have somewhat dated animation and story lines. While they're sweet, they aren't particularly funny or active. I can see that not really resonating with younger audiences who are used to newer, action packed animations. Tangled is such a charming and funny movie, even as an adult it's a fav. for me!
They are very very pretty, but I agree with you I wish they would focus on the historicals more, it’s what made them popular and honestly I feel like so many people would support more historical releases! When I think of peak American girl it was definitely the 80s and 90s there’s something so special about the way things were then!

I agree! I do think once Mattel took over, they were over-confident in the beginning and I think they changed a lot of the fundamental values of the brand. Maybe it was a response to a changing demographic - who knows. I just wish they could bring back some of the keepsake feel to the brand. It's what made it feel so expensive before.
I skipped the FAO doll because she just wasn’t special enough for me to justify the money. I do love just about everything about this release, and I gladly dropped the money to buy something. I was obsessed with Beauty and the Beast when I was younger (I owned just about every release VHS/DVD) and I also loved AG but my family couldn’t afford to buy from them, so it’s a really special full circle moment to be able to get something that childhood me would have dreamed of.

After years of buying Disney costumes for my 8yo, the dresses to me scream cheap satin. I would have loved to see richer, more matte/taffeta like textures than the shiny, more obviously polyester satin on all these looks. I agree the Swarovski placement is understated and tasteful, but overall these dollies just don’t look expensive enough to justify the pricepoint. Oh and the humongous window and cartoon emblem on the box is cheap cheap too and ripe for a Target shelf. The Disney Designer line, with its more discreet closed ribbon boxes, are super chic and would make this a truly covetable collection piece. (Let us poor peons see an open box on display at the store or the website but otherwise only the rich shall be able to open the treasure inside!) Anywhoodles, speaking of poor, I concur that having just the dress for even a slightly elevated price point (ie HP $45-50) would be awesome for us collectors who already have a company of TM or CYO dolls ready to play a princess. Okay your sewing knowledge is definitely coming through! That was actually a point I forgot to make - is that I’d personally actually prefer nicer fabrics and better construction on the clothes, rather than having the crystals. I definitely agree all the shiny fabrics makes them look cheaper than a $300 doll should. I do think the boxes themselves look great. They’re much thicker than the standard boxes, so I think the shape itself is great. The graphic design on them needs a little tweaking. I definitely don’t like the illustrations on the window - very overdone and cheap looking. Unfortunately because every doll is technically unique, they can’t have them be completely closed like the mail-order ones were. Otherwise, I’d be all about that!

I agree! As a sewer myself, particularly of doll clothes, I do agree that these should be far better quality, especially for $300! This is one of my biggest critiques of AG these days, the outfits are just SO cheap! 😕 I really wish they had chosen better fabrics. I do love the embroidery on Rapunzel's dress but overall these outfits just don't seem high-quality. 😕 I understand that they have to pay for licensing fees, but I just wish they had produced better outfits. 😕
I love Jasmine's skin color given that Sonali was so popular and the controversy with the GOTY doll and her tone was not representative of darker skinned Indians. Skin lightening creams are a real concept in India and for some other cultures that are connected to India's British history of Colonialism and Trade. May also explain the Jasmine on the box v.s the doll offered. I do think all the dolls are very pretty. Not happy with the price, but lets face it...that is the price you would pay for a well loved, 2nd hand Sonali doll for realzzzz! We collectors know this is a real thing. At least this Sonali-like doll has a costume and is blinged out.😂

Yes, all very good points! I think that (for the most part) American Girl listens to issues like this when we complain about them. Jasmin’s skin tone being an appropriate color makes me feel like they’re listening to feedback that Kavi brings up issues of colorism. I think Pleasant Rowland was always interested in having her doll line be diverse. Götz (the company that manufactured the dolls in the 80s and early 90s) had almost no Black dolls in their product line before they worked with PC, so that’s why I think it took a few years to develop new molds for Our New Baby and ultimately Addy. Addys original prototype bloomers had the same trim as the first ONB outfits, so I think they may have been working on her as early as the late 80s. I guess all that’s to say, is I think representation has always been important to the brand. I just think somewhere along the way someone at Mattel thought they’d make more money if they made more blonde white dolls, but I’m really hoping they know how problematic and lazy that is. All I know is that we better start seeing more Claudie stuff!
Also, I’m guessing this line is going to be a success, so hopefully we’ll get a full range of princesses over the years! Tiana would be so pretty!

I’m seeing a lot of Repunzel has the highest sales at Disney, but I’d have to assume that’s among kids, not Disney adults. I’m not a Disney adult, but I think it would have been nice to get “historical” Disney dolls - Snow White, Cinderella, and Aurora. Personally I’d want an Aurora or an Alice.
The more I look at these, I feel like Rapunzel is my favorite now. Most of us knew about all 3 of these characters as kids, but I feel like Rapunzel wasn't as popular until Tangled. If I had to guess, after seeing people's comments, I'd say she'll be the most popular of these 3 dolls. Alice would've been such a cute doll I think!
Another great video! Love the graphic design feedback on the boxes. I picked up Belle (nostalgia) and Rapunzel (also not a fan of the MG face mold, but the freckles and coloring got me). I do think $300 is a high price point for these dolls. I used rewards to get it down to $230, which I think is more reasonable. As far as my wish list, Cinderella and Tiana would’ve been top of the list for sure. 💖

As for the dolls, Rapunzel is stunning, Jasmine is beautiful in doll form - but I would choose Belle for nostalgia reasons and because she’s super pretty.
It’s so interesting to see how much more complex the characters are in the original books. I feel like I should go back and read them because the stories are so important to relate to the character (obvi so excited to get to know the Hoffmans better! Heh)

I’m definitely thinking about getting the belle doll! Out of the three she’s my favorite and I remember seeing the live action movie for my birthday when it came out. I do wish they made a tiana or aurora one just because they’re my favorite princesses/Disney princess movies. $300 is a lot of money but as long as the doll is of good quality and is one I like I think it’s reasonable(ish). I feel like Jasmine and Belle look like regular dolls in costumes (especially Belle's, which looks very costumey). The dresses are so plain to me. I actually love the Rapunzel doll's dress! I wish I could afford her. But, as another commenter said, I could just buy a costume for an existing doll. They needed to do more to make the dolls themselves stand out more and make the dresses more extravagant.

My husband got Rapunzel for me for my birthday and I'm still impatiently awaiting her arrival. I completely agree on these red boxes.. you can still make them cohesive without making them all the same red color that clashes with the doll inside the box. While I do generally like these dolls, I think that they are modified truly me dolls and that is what I'm most disappointed about. At least the FAO doll was unique!

I bought Rapunzel! And rapunzel is from the movie Tangled. I think the Jasmine one is gorgeous but I was too afraid of her not looking right if I bought her and not being able to exchange she was definitely not one I would go for with that price point. Belle is gorgeous but I wasn’t overly impressed with her gown. Personally I think Rapunzel’s dress has a lot of awesome little details at least in my opinion. I know everyone else disagrees and they think the outfits look tacky but her dress is pretty movie accurate with more embellishments.
Edit: I just wish Belle’s dress was a bit more movie accurate like Jasmine and Rapunzel’s outfits are.

Finally Mattel made a right thing with the American Girl brand: have a trade agreement with Disney to make A.G. dolls inspired to the most famous Disney's characters maybe the right way to raise the brand (which, as I heard, had a sales decline in the last times); I hope it can work and relaunch this fantastic brand which, after the abandonment of Pleasant Company, has been the same not more.
Those are actually three of my favorites, though I'd also love to see Mulan, Moana and Mirabel (M's... ironic). Also Tiana. Elsa and Ana would be a big hit of course. I love the modern Disney movies!
I won't be buying any of them at that price point, but I enjoy looking at them. 😅
The Belle doll's eyes are hazel, not green. I don't think they make the pinwheel eyes in hazel. It does kind of bug me because I distinctly remember Belle's eyes being brown! Apparently there's a whole online debate about that...
AG hazel eyes aren't my favorite. I think they could be better, but as a person with hazel eyes, I was so excited when they first came out with them. A few other examples of AG dolls with hazel eyes are Cécile, Maryellen, Rebecca, truly me 55, and Nanea.

I’ve never been into purchasing the collector dolls, but I did get Belle. It was the first movie I saw in theaters and means a lot to me. I had a sizable reward, which helped a lot. I doubt I’d have spent $300! I think she’s so pretty and look forward to having her. I’m not keeping her in the box, though!

I was really confused as to why they chose these three princesses. I guess I can kinda understand Belle cuz I believe Beauty and the Beast was the only animated film to ever be nominated for Best Picture, and it was its 30th anniversary this year, but the other two seemed odd. I was very glad to see that Jasmine wasn't white-washed and had the Sonali face mold though! I agree with you about her hair ties, those do not match the outfit, character, or the high price tag. I totally agree with you on Belle's crown, stunning! 😍 I also like the understated crystals, I think the dolls look far more classy with less adornment! I'm confused about the release dates too and very frustrated that once again Claudie will be overshadowed by these three other big releases coming out at the same time, makes her overshadowing seem intentional. 😕😥 I probably won't get any of them, too high a price. I am torn though because I dearly love Beauty and the Beast, but I also love Aladdin and want to support the dolls of color... However, I am not at all surprised that that didn't happen, and know it is highly unlikely to ever happen, Disney, few Disney fans or maketing/entertainment companies don't seem to support her. 😥 And I am so very sad to see that AG is straying so far from what made it unique and magical to begin with. I am very disappointed to see that AG is just becoming 18in Barbie dolls. 🥺
I love american girl but I'm nit sure if I can justify buying 3 dolls at 300 each if they are modern. I'm honestly more into PC stuff at higher price points. ❤

Yeah, the historical line will always be my favorite. That’s what made me love these dolls as much as I do. All the details and storytelling will never be topped!
honestly ever since you pointed out the painted on eyelashes ive been looking at the new dolls more closely and it drives me insane. it reminds me of the repaints where people go way overboard and the doll ends up having toddler in tiaras vibes. i really dont like the lipstick on these dolls either. i dont think the young and simple face sculpts of AG really mesh well with painted lashes and bright lip colors.
honestly, these dolls are ALL SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!🥺🥺🥺🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️i love them all so much. the rapunzel doll looks so good!!! all of them look so good actually lol. i love the addition of the flowers on rapunzel’s braid like from that one scene in the movie. but the belle doll is my favorite. i mean, she is my favorite disney princess, she always was even when i was a kid. the belle doll is GORGEOUS!!!! her hair style, her face mold, her eyes, her dress, EVERYTHING!!!! she’s stunning. i probably won’t be buying any of these dolls (at least not right now) though because i haven’t really started collecting AG yet because i don’t have a job lol. belle’s tiara is also so SO pretty and detailed and i love everything about it. her dress does look a little slightly plain compared to jasmine and rapunzel’s outfits, but i still really love her anyway. i want mattel to make all the disney princesses in AG form lol because it would be interesting to see how that would turn out since this set is gorgeous and i think if they made the other princesses, they would also look gorgeous too. and yeah i do feel like it would have made a little bit more sense if they did cinderella, snow white, and aurora, HOWEVER, i think them picking some of the most popular disney princesses (meaning belle, jasmine, and rapunzel) was a really good idea nonetheless. i think cinderella, snow white, and aurora would be absolutely gorgeous dolls if AG decided to make them
Rapunzel is a blonde i like blondes i uh mean she’s cute yea heh cute ….heheh….. i think that movie came out when i was like baby basically , i want all three but like i don’t have a job yet even so with the money i did have can you guess what i got….heheh Rapunzel….i want all three so bad tho cuz i think all three on a shelf would be so so cool as a collector yea i think each will get value but having the full set would be a crazy collector thing

I thought the dolls would be Rapunzel, Belle, and either tiana or Ariel. Kids don’t watch/like show white or Cinderella, the movies are too slow and older style. Adults would have liked those dolls though
Well, I am not a Disney fan for the most part. I don't like any of the dolls so that will help me save money for the HARRY POTTER TRAIN, I really want the train! LOL!!!!

ariel would’ve been so good. but the controversy following the live action movie would’ve put american girl in the spotlight, and probably not in a good way. if they released white ariel, people would be mad, if they released black ariel people would be mad
For the past two days now I have been telling myself not to get one of these days. So many Adult things I need to do. But despite the fact I don't like the concept of the collab. I really like the dolls themselves. I would however really like more historical items. I took business marketing in college and I cannot agree with you more that this is totally a money grab. And as much as I love Isabele and Nicki, they where also a money grab. I honestly feel like they are pushing too much stuff out at once and losing focus on the historical aspect of what made American Girl to begin with.
I bought Rapunzel but I'm not sure I'll buy the others really depends on how fast they sell out. I did just buy a Romina and I know for sure I'll love her. ❤
The jasmine doll is beautiful but her face looks nothing like the character or from an Arab decent! The other two dolls are a better representation of the characters.
