I came here to learn about custom Daz models, and wound up learning how to make hair the CORRECT way, after struggling with it since March 2022 (when I started learning Blender). Thank you so much! You've earned a subscriber!
Amazing stuff here man, seriously. Love to see someone doing a similar process to myself but teaching me so many new things I haven't learned yet. Would love to donate to your patreon if you have one. True goat
Thank you so much! I have been trying to learn how to do 2 big braids for males and this is the closest thing i could find for 3.5 would love to see how you would do it if possible
No way bro just made 21 with Daz 😭😭. New subscriber, I am definitely trying this. And by the way, you should apply to make music videos for them because this is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
From the part where you add roughness to the hair, mine doesn’t make it rough, it just makes separates the hair strands the more I increase the roughness
I just watched your tut was amazing fews words and clear I enjoyed watching I have been struggling to make hairs for many years now I think this time will work bcoz I got awesome teacher short and clear LET ME GIVE A TRY
Hello Sal, I thank you for the tutorial, it is very well done, however I have a problem. When I try to (apply) the modifier (Mirror) it shows me an error message: (Modifier cannot be applied to a mesh with shape keys), I saw that it worked for some using the SSKEEPER plugin, however when installing it it still does not work. The version of Blender I use is 4.1.1, and the file is .fbx. Please help me. Can I skip this part and continue with the hair particles? Thanks for the help
man this is awesome thank you for the video. by the way do you have a course on this specially creating different kind of hairs and beard? where it also explain the different settings. I'd like to buy.
Yeah hair is always a bit tricky. You can convert it to a mesh geometry but this will significantly increase the poly count of your model. Not sure if there is any other more efficient way
Help me, I put the dreads after my animation (mixamo), when my character starts walking, the hair starts be crazy because its dont fixed to the character
Hey man, I tried doing this with a model already rigged with Rig-gns with animation attached from mixamo. But the hair doesnt stick to the head once the character starts walking. Do you know what can cause the issue?
If you go into the modifiers for the scalp mesh, make sure that the hair particle system is applied before the armature (animation) that usually fixes the problem.
Please can anyone help me out? I duplicated half of the scalp as shown in the tutorial, but there is a shift in position everytime i switch between edit mode and object mode. What can i do to fix this and keep the origin points the same. Any advice would be great. Thanks
With the scalp selected, press Shift D then hit Enter immediately. This should duplicate the scalp selection without moving it. Then proceed with separating. Hope this helps
Make sure your scalp mesh is parented to the rig. If you follow the exact steps I did then the mesh will already be parented to the rig because we duplicated it from the original character mesh. But if you use a separate mesh, then you will need to parent it again. If you parent it and the hair still doesn't follow, then you'll just need to re do the hair. This usually solves the problem
@@salfolio yeah I’ve tried a few of the facial rig add ons and the sculpting is killing me. The metahuman facial rigging is legit but harder to get the model to look like the subject.
@@jewshotya9278 metahuman is good but its impossible to get the subject to look how you want. I've been trying a few different options but haven't fully gotten any promising results yet. But if I do, I'll definitely make a video on it.
hello, I'm stuck on the part where you have to use the eyedropper with the mirror and the shrinkwrap. When I use it, it doesn't recognize the genesis 8 male mesh. Nothing is displayed. Can you help me? Thanks 🙏
Anyone else having trouble the with the lineup?? All I’m able to do is move and scale the scalp.. how do I shape it?? I have proportional editing on. 0:44
Thanks for replying but it’s still not working. Do I need to be in vertex, face or edge mode? And what’s the shortcut you are using right before you start to shape the lineup?
@@herozeaa you must be in VERTEX MODE. Use the MOVE TOOL. Then click on one of the points to select it, click G once its selected, scroll the middle mouse and then you'll see the grey circle. If you don't see the grey circle try scrolling all the way down to 0 proportional size (you'll see the numbers move on the top left screen) then scroll up again once you've reached 0. do we apply the hair on the model with the mixamo animation or the one that we moved behind the one with the mixamo animation and how did you that circle around the cursor when you were selecting the hair
Add hair after your character is already animated. It’s less of a head ache. For the cursor, turn on the proportional editing button at the top (search it if you don’t know where it is)

how to delete if u selected something wrong while drawing those oranges things

Yes! You have to parent the them to your rig. And also parent the curve object to your rig as well

How do we make the hair stay in position once we have rigged the character?
Try changing the order of the hair particle system modifier. It should be moved before the armature modifier.
Man how did you texture that African skin hope you could make that tut soon it would be appreciated

I tried doing this with a model already rigged with Rig-gns with animation attached from mixamo. But the hair doesnt stick to the head once the character starts walking. Do you know what can cause the issue?

How can i keep the hair on its head after animating the model
If you go into the modifiers for the scalp mesh, make sure that the hair particle system is applied before the armature (animation) that usually fixes the problem.

do you normally do hair first or animation first during the process of creating a character?
and tysm for the helpful tutorial!!!
I add hair after animation. Although it depends. If I use the Rig-GNS add on then I can add hair after
Why when i rig and put a animation the hair dont follow the model can you help me?
