  • Brothers and part of jiu jitsu’s most illustrious family, my guests today are Ryron and Rener Gracie who discuss how Brazilian jiu-jitsu has shaped the people they are today; the pressure of continuing their family’s legacy; how UFC (their father’s creation) has become one of the fastest growing sports in history; and the importance of being able to defend ourselves.

      I was just about to post a similar comment on this video Siim. You can absolutely feel the conscious presence of these 2 in the room. Very balanced people. Standard art forms seem to have a wonderful quality of being archetypal to some of the basis of reality, giving a person a more meta view if they are able to see the correlation and practice it. A good foundation to build yourself on. As Russel stated about that primal fear being a very deep primal part of the brain. Which is true, the flight or fright response is mediated in the oldest part of the brain.

    • @PherPhur
      @PherPhur Před 6 lety +1

      Absolutely. Very few people in this world have the knowledge or drive to bring spirituality to a world that so desperately needs it. Although I consider myself to be of some use in that regard, thank God we got Russell, we can use all we can get.

    What a fantastic video. I'm sold, I need to try this. I loved the comments on "unhandcuffing" your children from unworkable bullying policies at their schools. I went to primary school way before bullying was identified and I have no idea what the school policy was, but my Dad and I were hauled into the principal's office after he advised me that if I got picked on I absolutely had the responsibility to defend myself, and I then did. He did not back down or waver at all, he had my back completely. My parents found a new school the next year.

Before Rener's finished with the - off the mat analogy/how does this pertain to life skills - I'm calling it "alignment," and further to that, alignment with source, with All That Is.
    Jiu Jitsu's never struck me as something to pursue, and unless without the perfect instructor, I won't pursue it, though listening to you guys may be enough. We speak the same language, are on the same frequency, and for me what you do is yoga in it's truest sense - not the trendy foot behind neck, toes in your mouth stuff, but real alignment/union of spirit and body.
    God Bless You gentlemen, Russell, Ryron & Rener, and sincere thanks for all that you are and do. I'm thoroughly enjoying your conversation. Keep thriving, shining, and offering light for others to see their own and thrive too.

    wow really enjoyed this ... true pearls of wisdom in this discussion. A martial arts teacher I once studied with put forth that 'true pacifism comes from confronting fear artfully' so somewhat ironically highly disciplined fighting arts such as this can liberate us from macho destructive egoic tendencies in an alchemical way (transmuting proverbial lead to gold) by embracing rather than denying/abusing these survival and peer societal tendencies and instead transmuting this energetically to higher frequency more enlightened seeing/being.

    I like what they said about a person's own demeanor, can trigger conflict. This is a point that the women's movement doesn't get. You bring it up and they say you are putting the blame on the woman, which is not true. You are not responsible for the actions of an aggressive person, but you can deflect their action or attention away from them in many cases.

      Nice to see someone sees more to the story. Definitely the mens fault 100 percent, the women should be able to wear whatever they want. BUTTTTTT, dressing more expose and eccentric does increase the statistical likelihood of shit happening. Who knows, maybe it'll all go away and fix itself, maybe the women will stop caring about it happening or maybe the men will stop being dicks or raise better children. All I know is the only thing you can control for sure is yourself and your kids.. somewhat lol.
