+NYRAPTOR6 welcome!! Not sure if I'd be able to build something like this....well I'm sure I cant .... but when I'm ready to get this project going I'm going to have it built like this. Really the nicest I've seen. :)
Hello, Thank you for the video, it is amazing, I followed the same as you with cement board and tiles. Just one concern : I checked the temperature of the cement board on top and I see 158 Farheinet. Just wondering if this is not too hot, as the little studs are screw to it. Do you have the same issue ? Thx
Beautiful. Thanks for the idea. Have you thought of cutting a hole/holes for the fire cans to go in on the base so that it can sit slightly above the baseline rather than completely out?
I'm doing something similar to this (though I'm using an existing mantel that once housed an electric insert). I want to line the box with ceramic tile like you did, but I worry about fire hazard. Has yours given you any cause for concern? Does the tile seem like it withstands the heat okay? Thanks for this tutorial!
+Kara Toone I lined the fire box with cement board and then tile. So far so good!! we use it all the time in the winter with no issues. I got the fire log kit through home depot online. Thanks for watching!!
+Kyle Seasholtz I had some of the wood and trim left over from some other work I did but I spent around 300. the tile and the fire log set were the most expensive. Thanks for watching!!
Hello! can you give me the dimensions of the inset? I know you said 22in deep but how wide and tall? Thanks! also you didn't tile the top? how did you attach the metal?
the insert is roughly 24 wide by about 20 high. the metal is attached through the cement board into the framing. it helps reflect the heat better off the top. Thanks for watching!!
Thanks! I've wanted a fireplace in that room for some time now but wasnt sure of a reasonable ($) way to do it. The gel fuel logs were a perfect answer.
I absolutely love this! My husband has an up coming project and doesn't even know it:-)
Thank you very much!! The best part about building this was no planning it out!!

Where are you located?
I would pay a good $800 to $1000 for a Fireplace Custom Built like that.
Beautiful Fireplace, I love the craftsman style fireplaces. More or less how long did your project take? Thanks for the video.
Thank you! It took about three days for me to get it all framed and tiled and a few more days to paint it.
