Jaurès is a station on the lines 2, 5 and 7bis.
The station opened on February 23, 1903
(the line 7bis platforms opened on January 18, 1911 and the line 5 platforms opened on October 12, 1942).

The name was given to the station shortly before the outbreak of World War I. As the station's name was 'Rue d'Allemagne' when it opened, it was renamed after Jean Jaurès, a pacifist politician and main editor of l'Humanité newspaper opposed to the upcoming war, but murdered only days before the outbreak of the war. At 3:20 the windows contain an abstract artwork representing the French tricolor flag as some streets in the direct vicinity are named after famous battle victories in the French revolutionary war (Valmy and Jemappes). The plants on the glass shelters are in an effort to make the RATP stations more 'green'.
Fun fact: Jean Jaurès is the only person besides Michelangelo whose name appears in two different Paris Metro stations (Jaurès / Boulogne-Jean Jaurès).

There are also metro stations named after Jean Jaurès in Lille and Toulouse - hopefully I will also add these cities to my video collection at some time...
