good to see spencer back, i dont suspect conditioning will be a long term issue as hes always been one of the hardest working guys out there.

@@Jacknippleson1 every year he starts off fatigued and people always think it’s because he typically techs guys by the 1st period and that he’ll gas out in March. He just trusts the process and reaps the rewards at the end of the year.

They needed Spencer in the dual meet. Without him, I don't think they would've won before going out you can tell in his eyes he just got done dropping weight fast. He came out because his team needed him.

He’s been an explosive wrestler who can beat anyone on any given day. But I think he answered a lot of questions in this match. His gas tank and conditioning being the main question. A grueling match obviously they game planned for him. Didn’t let him wrestle from space, heavy tie ups the whole match. And gets it done in overtime. Super impressive.

I was so happy to finally see Spencer wrestle in person. Lived in Canada until Feb 26, 2021when I moved back and of course he didn't wrestle last year so it was a huge treat for me and a great meet. Stuff for all the Hawkeyes to work on!
Cassiopi's physical change since his freshman year is crazy. He looks in peak condition so far

Woods stalling the entire 2nd period is so bizarre. Wasn’t running anything. Just hooked the ankle. Very poor officiating.
Lee definitely hasn’t been wrestling full practices, and his wrestling conditioning isn’t there yet ,never seen Lee get up so slow at the end of that 2nd period, unless he has the flu rn
Everyone has said it every year that he doesn’t have the gas tank to get it done in March. It’s very early in the season. He will be ready.

The man is back. I hope this kid can stay healthy for this year and one Olympic year and still be the dame guy athletically. He had no explosion yet. In four months he’ll look like a totally different guy. First time we’re I’ve actually seen him looking s but sucked in. Looks like he had a tough cut. Especially with how gases he was after the first. One place where the knees won’t hinder him much. He bearded on top as usual.
Great to see Spencer Lee back in the singlet. Respectfully his technique is a little off at certain points, and I think we all saw him start to gas out. However I think Spencer Lee just needs to warm up and wrestle a couple matches to get back into his groove. After a few matches, he’ll get his conditioning back, he’ll sharpen up, and he’ll look just as unstoppable as before

Scrolling through comments waiting to see this! His intensity the last 10 seconds was elite wrestling. Reminded me of Jason Nolf momentarily just chain wrestling like crazy! Hope he can work that more across all 3 periods.

He was only given two days notice to wrestle in this dual. Cutting all that weight in that short time will do that
@@kenw2225 "Only" a major after being up 12-1 early in the first period is still unusual for Lee. He looked gassed at the end. He'll be fine later in the year.

I don't know why Woods is so happy...a true freshman took it to him pretty good. The stall call against Swiderski was BS. Woods just held on the whole period. They wrestle again and I'll take Swiderski every time.

I dont see why Woods was celebrating so hard. He barely won against a freshman (that is not to say Swiderski is your average freshman), and the reason he won was due to running away last period and stalling/hanging on in the previous periods.

I had the same thoughts a number two guy sqeeking by a true freshman but it was his first time in Carver as a Hawkeye. They dont get crowds like that in Stanford.
Swiderski is a beast he just need to keep his head or opponents are gonna play into his anger and take advantage of any emotional decisions he makes in the match
Just run away from him and the refs won’t call stalling… fun

He was noticed 2 days before the match he was wrestling and had to cut all that weight in that shirt of a time all after 11 months removed from 2 acl surgeries. He’ll be fine but nothing is every guaranteed obviously

Woods did absolutely nothing in the 2nd period to turn Casey when he was on top. He also did nothing but stall in the 3rd period, ran away twice and the ref was too afraid of the crowd to actually do his job to call stalling. Typical Hawkeye BS. Lee is the only one who shows up to wrestle instead of worrying more about trying to get stall calls.
Spencer Lee looked gassed. Not a good sign...Not a dominate win like before. Good to see him back however. He needs better conditioning

Staling call wasn't right in the first period. Keeping back to avoid double unders isn't any more staling than Real Woods jumping away from the shot in the third. Almost fleeing the mat at that point. Either way, it should have went to over time. Would rather see this match not decided by staling.
He lost fair and square. You didn't factor in the riding time as well. You're aware he lost 4-2, correct?...

In reply to Daniel Pendleton, fair and square would have been having a ref that isn't too much of a coward to call stalling against ANY Hawkeye wrestler (when warranted) within the same amount of time they would call it against ANY Hawkeye opponent.

weight cut might be affecting his gassing. Hopefully he is not affected by staying lighter weight. He looked good but a for sure gassed out and looked really drawn in in the face.

I think cabanban can actually hang with lee when he’s not nervous. You could see he was nervous at the beginning and lost a lot of points because of it. When he realized he had nothing to lose, he started wrestling much better

It’s very difficult on the body to be conditioned for the entire season. You sacrifice a lot of power, speed, health, etc. He don’t need to be conditioned until Big Ten

Murin DESERVED that loss... for years now he has wrestled the same style with little offense and a more athletic wrestler caught him and guess what..... this has happening to him since his redshirt freshman year and no change from him. This falls on the coaching staff and him as an athlete for not being coachable.
You can’t change someone style, personally if talked to the guy he would probably say he likes working off people offense better then creating his own

As soon as Murin started trying to shove Johnson out of bounds, instead of wrestling him, I knew Johnson was going to win. Absolutely AWESOME! These refs need to start calling the "shove out" for what it is WAY more often. It's STALLING!!!

Spencer lee's bar is a chicken wing every time. As far as I understand that's usually illegal and the ref stops the action. I'd like to see the refs take that away from him and see how well he does.
