      They have found that long time marathon runners have been having higher rates of heart failure. This is due to a build up of scar tissue around the heart. They are damaging their heart faster than it can repair itself and this becomes even more prevalent the older that they get.

      Noam Adelman Your healing factor is very slow. If you get cut it will never fully heal. Your heart is the same, so your best bet is not run, or jog. It is overall the worst for you. Just do farmers walk, sand walking, carry heavy stuff, lift heavy things. Move sideways back and fourth, throw stuff.

  • @stt5v2002

    I run marathons. I have trained many thousands of miles, and run almost every day for years. There are a few other effects of running 2500+ miles a year. You feel great about yourself. You run faster and further than you ever dreamed possible. You are incredibly healthy and feel energetic all the time (also tired all the time, but it is a different kind of tired. Tough to explain.) You sleep like a baby. You eat constantly, food tastes incredibly good, but you never gain weight. You run a slow 5k just to warm up for a 5k race. You meet lots of cool people and talk for hours while running. About all sorts of topics. Oh, and they are right that marathons are pretty tough, which is the whole point.
    Most medical risk actually comes from not running enough in training then trying to run a marathon or half marathon. Those "shortcut" marathon plans will get you to the finish line, but your body is not really ready to do the 26.2 miles. Put in the time, spend a year or more building up, run a smart race, and you will have a safe and awesome marathon.

Not too shabby but my condition is due to staying in shape my entire life. I would never, never, never run a marathon not for any other reason than the damage it does to your internal organs. Scar tissue building on your heart is another symptom of marathoning.

    ahh... this video is bias and teaches unhelpful thing.
    e.g. carb- loading does not work for marathons. the liver and muscles can only hold small limited amount a glycogen.
    describing the body as "starving" is slightly misleading and gives it a bad vibe. with proper training, the body is able to easily go into ketosis, which uses fat for energy.
    and also most runners in marathons are over hydrated, not dehydrated. many actually gain weight after marathons than before. one can easily run for hours without drinking water. the body is good at that.
    but issues like hypothermia is still very real.

    • @NappingCindy
      @NappingCindy Před 7 lety +1

      Thanks! But how about the other issues of fever, hypothermia and acute kidney damage?

    • @Loathomar
      @Loathomar Před 7 lety +2

      carb- loading does work but the results are limited because the liver and muscles can only hold so much.
      Yes, your body is starving and is eating it's self. It will use fat and muscle on the body to continue to make energy.
      Most runners in marathons are over hydrated, but their body is still dehydrated. Most runner drink more water then the body can absorb, so they are "over hydrated" while at the same time the sweating far more then the body can absorb. From what I can find, elite runners sweated at a rate of 2.3 liters per hour, but you should never drink more then 27oz or 800ml per hour. Given a near 2 hour marathon, an elite runner will have 3 liter less water in their body then at the start. Their bodies are in a state of dehydration, but drinking more in the race would do them no good.

      Aren't you supposed to hold off on water during any exercise, since it's bad for you? Like your body will retain the water and not process it like normal when your exercising. Tell me if I'm wrong but I feel like that's what I read in my health books back in school.

    • @Loathomar
      @Loathomar Před 7 lety

      Crystal Carol - The body process water like normal when your exercising, the thing is that you can only process so much per hour. If you are sweating a lot, you will not be able to replenish your water while exercising. This can range between 13 to 27 ounces of fluid per hour. Anything more then that is going be in your body while you exercise, but not absorbed to be used. So, about small water bottle will be all you should drink in an hour.

    I know the secret to anticipate this. in order to make your body avoid more stressful, consume more tea to chill out your body and make your brain control blood pressure more stable. Don't put any sugar on it. just drink a lot and make your body feel comfort. I got a marathon and never injured my body, even I go swimming after the marathon for stretching my body. Astonishingly, I don't need to stop up for a glass of water that usually official provide it during the marathon. I just feel like "well I already have water inside my body" that's why tea can make your brain release your blood pressure.

      Take a look at physics of Daving Goggins. He runs 100 miles/3-4 times a week weight training yet is one well built muscular specimen. If you like running just ballance it with strength training like fitness and of course with a good diet. Non ballanced diet with a big calorie deficit will not only burn your muscles but will make you feel weak and tired.

Tyson Fury also runs a lot and is a heavyweight boxing champion. I do run more often again now and eat higher calories. I find brothy soups and noodle dishes with vegetables are great post work out food as I think the body absorbs more nutrients from soups as less nutrients are lost cooking them.

    For some that don't know, the reason why it's called a marathon today was because Pheidippides was delivering a message back to Athens Greece, and without him people would've never known about the victory over the Persians. But here's the thing, he collapsed and died after running that 26.1 miles, so that's why it's named that. So why are we running a race that many have literally died from? And naming it after someone who died so we can just do the EXACT same thing he did? It's kinda funny when you think about it lol
