I'm 69 and I had my hair colored professionally for over 20 years, however, in-between I had to use powders, root coverup dyes that messed with my scalp. I also began to lose my hair which had always been thick and healthy. I suppose my scalp was screaming at me to stop and the pandemic lockdowns were the final straw. I went cold turkey and four years later, my hair has grown back; it's long, healthy and I receive lots of compliments. I also wish I had done this sooner.

My husband isn't on board with my going gray. I have to say he is the reason I have been dying my hair. Like many people he thinks having gray hair makes people look old. Does he also put himself in danger and put chemicals on his body in order to look good for you? I wonder about the thought processes of these men, truly. Look at 11:25 in her video.

I quit highlighting my hair (never did all over color) about 10 years ago. My hairdresser helped me wean down the amount of spots highlighted until we just stopped. I’ve had so many people compliment me on my hair! Strangers will come up to me and tell me how beautiful it is. I have long single length hair now and I love it! Fewer trips to hairdresser, easy to put in a ponytail or up in a clip, it takes care of itself. Very little fussing. Good for you, encouraging others! I stopped dyeing during the pandemic after 30 years of coloring it. Took 2 years to grow out. I like it gray! It’s healthier. And mine has a lot of natural highlights/variation in color. The one downside is that people definitely treat me differently - like I’m old. So while I used to look 10-15 years younger, I no longer do. Oh well.

I decided in my late 20’s to never dye my hair again. I didn’t really do it a bunch before that point… I worked around a bunch of other older women and the way they talked about their hair and how they needed to dye it would make me cringe. 😬. I just got to the point where I felt bad for other women who thought that their natural beauty was not beautiful. Then on top of that I jumped on the natural living wagon and started purging my life of all the toxic chemicals. It just blows my mind how toxic a lot of things are and hair dye is just awful. So many women will say, "Well, I would do that too if I knew it would turn out like yours," and I have to correct them by saying, "I had no idea what it was going to look like until I did it." I hated the two-year grow out process (looked terrible), and then another few years to get the long length I wanted, however it was SO worth it. My advice is to quit cold-turkey and wear a scarf, hat, or wig until it's grown out. I ruined my hair (bleach to lessen demarcation only lead to my hair breaking off).

Then, the pandemic hit, and I had to medically retire due to chronic pain. Salons were closed, so I stopped coloring my hair and washing it daily. I now wash it every 2-3 days and seldom use heat. I do sometimes throw some fun semi-permanent colorful streaks of purple or pink, but nothing permanent or all over. My hair, that never went past my bra strap, is now down to my waist, and I have a really cool white streak of hair framing my face. @@UESGrl21 I’m in my 60s and as my (undyed) hair became increasingly grey it also became frizzy. The individual grey hairs are a different texture, which results in a dull, fizzy look. After menopause, my hair also began to thin. Things that have helped me tremendously: more focus on conditioning, including the use of a *leave-in conditioner* (avoid putting this near the scalp, as it will weight the hair down); *not* shampooing every day; using a flatiron to smooth out the frizzies (again, *NOT* daily, to avoid heat damage); and adding a collagen peptide powder to my diet (I add it to coffee or smoothies).
Collagen diminishes as we age, causing our skin, nails, and hair to dry and weaken. The benefit of collagen supplementation is supported by a growing body of independent scientific research. I initially added it hoping to benefit my joints (not much luck for me there), so I was surprised to suddenly notice that my hair and nails had stopped breaking, hair had stopped falling out as much, and both were growing faster and looking healthier. The change for me was pretty dramatic. My hair is about 90% grey and I love it again!

I tried growing my grey out a couple of years ago, but then one day I went back to dyeing. Until recently. I turned 70 and with grey growing on top of my bright red, I decided that was very ugly. So I dyed it one more time in a natural brown and now, let the grey appear, can't be bothered anymore.
    I love your hair BTW

I get a pink tinted conditioner that I use occasionally for a bit of fun, it makes my grays slightly pink and washes out so no damage and just as much fun as actually dying my hair 🥰💕💕💕 thankyou so much for this video I resignate with you so much 🧘

What a great video :) I stop dyeing my hair in 2019 and never looked back. The more white I had, the more difficult it was to get to a natural color, I always had either a red or blue undertone. And I also was diagnosed with an autoimmune illness in 2016, so that contributed to my decision. The most underrated "side effect" of going grey for me was that new found confidence :)

I have never dyed my gray. There’s more of it every day, especially at the crown. I started to go gray about 6 years ago when I turned 50 but it’s still mostly brown. My mom dyed her hair for about 30 years and just stopped this year because she realized that it was too much work and has lovely silver hair.

I worked in the beauty industry for awhile and honestly when people start wondering wether or not they should cover their grays I always would let them know they are going to be a slave to the touch ups and if they want to go back to gray they will either have to live with the awkward regrowth for awhile or spend a lot of time and money on a color correction.

I am heading into week 9 of no dye and this past week I thought to myself I would have colored 3 times in this amount of time.😮
Also, this week pushed me further over the hump because the greys are starting to bend/blend into the darker hair rather that look like a bad case of razor stubble. Not gonna lie, weeks 3 -7 not a happy camper.😢
But I heard a Silver Sister say you have to give it until at least week 10 to see your hair pattern and Iam pleasantly surprised because it is not what you see in the beginning weeks! I am loving it and am finally starting to enjoy the process. Also there are 2 ladies at my church doing it too we are all at different stages.❤

I discovered gray in my hair at 18. I'd been coloring my hair since I was 14. In my early 30s, I developed a substantial gray streak on the front left side, and I felt like I had to cover it. By the time I turned 40, I was tired of it, and now I'm 52 and enjoy the gray. Because I kept my hair short, it took no time for it to grow in, thankfully. I feel better about myself, and if I want to have some color, there are options that won't hurt my hair. I'm just so happy that I don't have to color my hair every three weeks.

I have a love hate relationship with my gray salt/pepper hair. Personally, I think it looks nicer if you still have a young face.
If you are a bit older, like me, it is a bit more difficult to accept. Getting the right hairstyle and makeup can work wonders. I do believe in that. My hair also seems finer and thinner than when I colored it. Most of the gray is at the temples and I personally don't find that flattering. If you have nice thick hair, then I think gray looks nicer.
Still the coloring stopped during the pandemic. Now I subtly leave some meches in my hair twice a year. Also to create some volume. So far I am satisfied with this.
    This is my personal opinion.

In 2020 when I couldn't see my hairdresser I decided I would just stop dying my hair altogether when the roots grew through, and for the first time I thought "Hey they don't look so bad!" All the dye is gone now, and I have healthier, thicker, shinier hair! I too have an autoimmune condition and since I stopped getting my hair dyed, that has improved too! Lots of girlfriends are doing the same too. Just a bit of purple shampoo now and then, to bring out the highlights and I'm good. Your hair looks fantastic, btw. It really does suit you (and it doesn't make you look older!)

I started going grey at 20 and made the decision to accept it as I didn’t want to spend my time on my hair rather than other activities. Over 45 years later without ever using hair dye, I have never regretted it. During the pandemic women would be looking at my hair and comment that they were considering ditching the dye. I was never a fan of dull, lifeless, over processed hair and have shiny soft hair and over the years people even asked where I got it frosted. People tell me that I would look younger if I colored my hair but those same people are overweight or sedentary and move like an older person so don’t look younger than their age. If that’s how people want their hair to look like, it’s their choice but they shouldn’t criticize my choice. I have 3 different autoimmune disorders so can’t blame it on hair dye.

I’ve had an autoimmune disease my entire life. I used to dye my hair with henna years ago and I think that’s the only healthy way to go. My current routine is DIY hair and DIY hair color. My life is not established, I don’t have a career, I don’t make the money I want and I don’t have the life I want. All of it is still in progress. Therefore me changing my hair color whenever I want gives me a little bit of hope that life is in my control and that it will perhaps get better for me, one day. I love grey hair and one day I’ll go there when I actually have a life that’s established and doesn’t demand that I look younger. Also when I live in a different country, not the USA, that won’t age discriminate me as I grow older!

Ive always been lucky. As a dirty blonde, with fine hair, I could just buy a box, rub it in, and be blonder. I usually do this two or three times a year. I tried growling it out during covid, but in my 60s my gray hair is disappointing, just strands, nothing interesting like so many of my friends. I’ll continue dying until it goes whiter, then I’ll go natural.

I quit, dyeing my hair when I was 28 I am 38 now I have mousy brown and grey hair. I really like my hair I really like my natural colour. I don't have any damage anymore. Some people ask me of I did it myself with the streaks. I didn't. When I did colour my hair I bleached it so bad it was falling out and breaking off it was really damaged and unhealthy. I never coloured it again after that. Now I care for it with everything and its grown back so much better. I actually couldn't care less its natural. My clothes and style and makeup are easier to go with everything. I think about the colouring process but then I know I would regret it straight afterwards. My hair is quite fine and it isn't strong enough to carry on colouring. You go to the salon they like to announce oh your hair is so fine/ thin. Yeah I already know .

I am 58 and don't really have any gray hair (maybe a stray one here or there.) However, my hair, which naturally was a dark blonde or dirty blonde, has now become a very boring brown color. So, every now and then, I will try to lighten it, myself, with varying rates of success lol. I WISH I would get some interesting gray in there so I wouldn't have to mess with it. I think it would add the...I don't know what to call it...texture? variation? something that it doesn't have with this flat brown color it has become. There is nothing wrong with gray hair!
