Lol if anything he should make it so he can flat foot shift safely too. Reducing quarter mile times is the goal usually for people that have tuned RX-7s.

Starting in 1961, I have had a variety of British, Italian, German and Japanese sports cars. The first gen RX-7 is my favorite, with or without the rotary. I have built a few street ported rotaries, but never for really high horsepower, and I never had a turbo rotary. I have a pretty good idea how much work and expense it involves, and I think my Skyline engine swap into my 84 GSL was no more work than many of these exotic engine builds. We had it installed and running in about a week. The RB20 engine, the smaller Skyline 2.0 liter, is rated at 215 hp with 10 pounds max boost. I upped the boost to 13 pounds, gets noticeably more mid range torque, but the turbo is too small to produce more boost at the 7k redline, so max power is not increased. I think the peak horsepower actually occurs at about 8 pounds boost. I could install a bigger turbo, but the power I have seems just right for a daily driver. Believe it or not, I am running this through a stock FB tail pipe and muffler, so it is very quiet.
@@davidtran6475 you will lose engine braking completely and the only thing passively slowing your car down will be the air and rolling resistance also in some cases the weight transfer will cause the rear to break grip in corners because as you accelerate the weight of the car transfers towards the rear and vice versa
I got a Holley sniper efi modified with 2200cc injectors Running E85,P P port 13b with a Turbo II trans and an 8.8 Rear end with bc coilovers all the way around on 35psi making 831whp

@@baiersworkshop Dude are you even serious? Double clutching has nothing to do with what I mentioned. Notice the revs drop from 8k to 5k especially from 2 to 3. That is a huge drop. He need a close ratio gearbox to fix that. Period. It'll drop the revs right back in the powerband after the shift. Unrelated to the problem I mentioned, double clutching makes the shift smoother and improve tranny life, but at the cost of time which is everything for a drag racer.

In my roadgoing car I replaced it with a 5 speed getragbox. My rallycar was fitted with a 4 speed close ratio and fork shifted straight cut gears.

most people go 13b for a reason. the 12a is a trooper. but depending on how much boost you are running you are better off spending the same rebuild money on a 13b.

Opening them up a little bit is called a street port, which allows more air and fuel to flow into the motor to create more power. Then there is bridge port, which is opened up a little more then a street port, then race port if you open it up more again. Although I am not sure on any specifics, this is as much as I know.

Leaving it in gear on decel is a big no-no. That's a great way to lose oil pressure and lose parts.
