Unfortunately you have the idle set so high that you never hear the brap brap. Get yourself a weber that has a choke, drop the idle down. As for your BP surging at low revs, I have never known of anyone with a 50mm weber. By far the most common is a 48mm with extended fuel bowl. I think your rotary needs just a small amount of proper setting up for it to be so much more driveable.
The 2 things will never get old to this gear head.. #1 a loud throaty rotary #2 the smell of 2 stroke running specially with premix first thing in the morning👃
I had an ‘82 RX7 with an RX4 13B Bridgeport and twin 48mm down draught Weber and streeted it for years. Good fun. Rocked the car at idle. 4” exhaust and rotorflo muffler sounded sweet. Miss the ol girl.

Hey, Like the car, like de build, nice video and sound recording 👌 I got a '84 12A FB and i ask myself how many horsepower could make a bridgeport 12A with good tunned carbs and appropriate exhaust line? An idea of yours?
love the sound. not bad for a cold start and typical for most any FB. looks a lot roomier under the hood. id like to PP my 89 GTUs which is fuel injected but i have to get it running out of storage where it sat for about a decade first. i miss the fb but the fc i will admit starts easier on cold days. i wonder how it would do ported. years back my half brother got smashed on tequila and wrecked my 82 rx7 gsl. only after his mom forced me to let him drive it to work. anyways thats how i got the 89 lol and its not bad. ill never be rich enough for an fd. either way been thinking about digging out my old rotary and seeing what i might be able to do. they claim the 6 ports 13b NA with peripheral porting and some other minor adjustments can break the 200 hp barrier, and go to almost 290 without turbo. my dream rotary car would be an NA 4 rotor but like i say either way there no horsepower like NA horsepower.
Awesome video, you should get some pool pipe lining and run it from the front straight into the two carburettor intakes, would do you good having direct cold air from the front instead of heated air from the engine bay. You can put wire mesh over the front of the pipes to stop anything going into them. That’s what the rotaries were set up intake wise in the 80s doing rally racing.
Ever since I was a child my uncles always had rx7’s and that was when I fell in love with them and I’m now 34 years old still haven’t owned one yet but it’s my dream to one day !!!!!!
Bravo good sir! I can only imagine Joy it takes to hot start this thing after you've turned it off with carburation? We have a 13B 6 Port it's been bridgeported by the Star racing Mazda mechanic. I think having the six ports would eliminate a lot of the complete lack of power below 3k🤔. I know it does in the super large Street Port GTU RX-7. If you don't mess with the beautifully designed six port intake system a lot of the myths of zero low end power become just that, myths by people with no real experience or fools who unhook their power steering and wire open the 6 ports and wonder why there's no low end power!
An old school trick you should do is to use a stock 2nd gen leading coil to wasted-spark fire the leading plugs. It eliminates the need to run the leading plug wires through the cap/rotor system, it adds a third spark at the very end of each power cycle supplementing the stock trailing system, its practically free to do, and if you add an MSD box you can end up with 5 to 10 sparks per power cycle as opposed to the factory 2. After airflow, ignition is the most important thing you can improve on a rotary, due to their poor combustion chamber dynamics.
For this one I just have hotter coils, nothing too crazy! The next rendition of this engine will be 10k plus rpm and a fancy ignition system will be needed foe sure!! I have done the MSD box with direct fire leading in the past. It worked great!!
coming off the holly sniper videos I can't help wonder how the sniper would do with a bridgeport? it seems to me the 4 barrel would be more desirable for that application, but could the 2 barrel sniper handle it maybe? new to rotarys here and no where near bridgeporting just curious on your thoughts a little.

You reminded me of my days driving my old “five-oh” mustang. It was loud, it wasn’t pretty and it didn’t have a horn… so I would rev it to “honk” at people. This video was very entertaining. Funny story: I moved to a different state and had to register said mustang, so I had to come up with a way to make the horn work. I bought a button switch from Autozone and wired it up to the horn relay. The cop doing the inspection looked at me funny when my hand pressing on the horn pad didn’t synchronize with the sound of the horn, so I showed him the switch. He just said “that’s not the worst I’ve seen” and let it go.

What year is the car? Reason I ask is because the hood prop is on the opposite side that mine was. My SA was built in oct 78 and is on the right side.
This one is a 1980. The early SA had it on the right side. Most 1979s as well
Awesome car
Any 12a for sale?
Mine doesn't buck until it goes down to 1600, but it's a street port. Very nice SA ♥
Mine pig roots exactly the same 👍
its a horsepower thing :)
Dude where did you get the cosmo I've been looking for one
Traded an Rx7 for it
The Del Orto DHLA side-draft carb is FANTASTIC for this engine AND it has a choke.
you should just get a vented hood, and some pipes bent upwards 45 degrees and itb sized filters on that intake
Rotaries kinda remind me of the Lexus LFA, everything in the name of the spinning Dorito
The LFA is epic. Just like the rotary. Such a unique sound!!
