Chasing a SUB 19 5K in Battersea Park, London

  • It took a long while to run sub 20 minutes for 5km, but once that barrier was broken, the sub 19.30 followed, which meant this 5K attempt at Battersea Park in London would be a great opportunity to try and run a sub 19 minute 5K for the first time in some years.
    Thank you to Charlie McCarthy for pacing me during this, he's a gifted runner who will go far.

    Great recovery to smash the 19 min barrier #awesome I'm often guilty of getting my 1st km pacing wrong by going under my targeted pace and paying the price in the final quarter of a 5k something to bear in mind on Saturday morning hmmm 🤔 Another great video 👍

    @arrowknee7356 Před 2 lety

    Well done. Just started running really in January and been able to do a 5km in 19:51. Doing some slow runs and some threshold and speed work now to try and get that under 19:30, and would love to get it under 19 this year. It is really bizarre for me as going sub 20 is really hard but 25 to 30 seconds slower is fairly comfortable. Which I've assumed means speedwork is my primary place I need to focus a bit more on to increase my speed.

    • @thisisjogon
      @thisisjogon  Před 2 lety

      I would say so Arrow Knee, keep doing that speedwork and if you can throw in a slow long run (8-10 miles) once a week you'll be surprised how much that helps too.
      Best of luck with training and well done on the SUB 20 - a great time.
