    We have a part-time IA at our local field and I may start apprenticing under him.
    I hold a PPL, but am not that incredible versed on gas combustion power-plants. I know the basics, pretty “anal” when it comes to any project I undertake being done “right” and eager to learn more.
    I feel this will be a great way to learn and make additional income at same time … also a great way to see if this is truly a profession I would like to totally immerse myself into.
    Subscribed and appreciate the videos, btw.

    Major airlines offer apprenticeship programs to get your A & P license while you are working on the job!

    Hello Bryce
    I just found your channel and subscribed. After listening to you. This could be very important. If your recency of experience has expired.
    I believe that would be part 65:82, I think, I'm not sure. If my memory is correct, it reads Six Months of recent experience out of the last Twenty four Months of experience. In other words, you have a certificate but you can't get a job. Again thank you

      Thank you so much for watching. I'm actually going to do a whole video on staying current both for the A&P and the IA. But yes, you are correct. The minimum requirement is 6 months in the previous 24. Doesn't matter if it's at the beginning or end of those 24 months. The FAA also has an opinion on what duties you may perform with your A&P. For example, if you haven't done rigging in the past 2 years, you should be re-trained before completely a rigging

      I had a student who worked on the aircraft that put out fire's he was not an A&P at the time but is now. I think 10 Tanker was the company. Outside of that, no, not really.

    Is it possible to find a general aviation company that can hire someone part time like weekends? The other question is let say you do find another job. Is it okay to document a log book the same way they do A&P?

    • @brycebuildsit
      @brycebuildsit  Před 4 měsíci

      You might get lucky and find a flight school that needs weekend help, but without an A&P, you would not be able to perform maintenance unless supervised. But yes, definitely put everything into a log book. That way, you have documented proof for the faa.

    Aircraft mechanics is my dream dream job but I can’t afford to send my self to go to school. That’s why im here at YT searching maybe someone can help me to find a airline that hire and will train people like me to be an aircraft mechanic without any experience. I do really want to be a aircraft mechanic. Do you have any advice?

    • @brycebuildsit
      @brycebuildsit  Před měsícem +1

      Like you said, some airlines offer apprenticeship programs. I would start there (I don't know who does and who doesn't). Also, I know ST Engineering offers an apprenticeship program, and they are an MRO, so you would be doing more tasks than an airline mech. ST will literally hire anyone it's up to you to cut the mustard as they say. You won't make much money working there as a non A&P, maybe 17 to 18 an hour. But you could have your A&P in 3 years, then go work for an airline making $30

    My name is Joseph I was at homework school. Veronautics got halfway through my daughter contracted cancer so I never finished. But I've got like 90 credit hours. What can I do? I. Love aircraft? My father was in the Air Force for 23 years. I've been inside. AB50? 2. And if 111? I've seen a more economy and it's something I love to do. How can I get back into it? And what school do you teach at

    • @brycebuildsit
      @brycebuildsit  Před rokem

      The easiest thing to do would be to finish school. You can transfer your credits to most 147 schools, so let's say you have taken every airframe class except airframe inspection. You can transfer to another school and finish that class and go test. Also, if you have already finished airframe and general, you can take PowerPlant at another school. It's weird and complicates your records, but it can be done. You may also be able to contact the FAA and get signed off based on practical experience. I don't mention the school I teach at by name because I don't represent them, nor am I authorized to make statements on their behalf. So, with that said, I teach at a part 147 school in San Antonio that is not Hallmark.

      I was using voice text I forgot to proof read, lol. I was a student of Hallmark College of Areonaurics at the San Antonio Airport. I had completed 35hrs. My 17 year old daughter was stricken with a terminal cancer ( brain tumor) on the thalomus gland. I didn't complete the school program. Aircraft is in my blood. My father was in the Air Force for 17 years of my life. I want to know how I can play it or at least get my foot back in the door

    • @brycebuildsit
      @brycebuildsit  Před 4 měsíci +1

      The A&P is legaly just a certificate, not a license. If what I think you are saying is that you just have the certificate of completion from a Part 147 school, then Yes, however, they will typically pay less than if you have the A&P. Now, if you still have those certificates of completion, you can self study or take a crash course for the tests.

    • @brycebuildsit
      @brycebuildsit  Před 18 dny +1

      all you need to do is meet the requirements of part 65 (be signed off to test) and Pass all the necessary test. Here is the rub you will only be able to exercise the privileges' of the A&P wile working on U.S. registered aircraft outside the U.S.

  • @seekeroftruth101

    How much does it cost to get an A&P certificate? I'm very interested.

    • @brycebuildsit
      @brycebuildsit  Před 10 měsíci +1

      It depends on where you go and financial aid. Can be as little as 10k or as much as 50k. Some companies also offer apprenticeships and training to get the A&P wiel you work there. If a Part 147 program is more the route, you want to take just Google part 147 A&P school and your state. Then go take a tour of the program and decide what works better for you.

    I heard several references to "FAR Part ..." in this video. To clarify, The FAA stopped using "FAR Part...) about 3 decades ago when another branch of the Federal Government also used the acronym "FAR" to represent "Federal Acquisition Regulations" applicable to the Federal Government's purchasing programs. The FAA switched to "14 CFR Part..." which is short for "Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part...". An A&P can return aircraft to service after some maintenance activities, but other activities such as annual inspections, major repairs or major alterations require return to service by the holder of an Inspection Authorization. A 14 CFR Part 145 Certified Repair Station (CRS) may also approve aircraft or components for return to service for the maintenance activities that are listed for their CRS certificate. Keep in mind that any A&P, IA, or CRS is taking responsibility for the actions of any non-certified maintenance technician, pilot, owner, etc. For the certificated person or CRS, this becomes a matter of trust and confidence in the non-certificated person. This level of trust can vary significantly depending on the situation.

    • @brycebuildsit
      @brycebuildsit  Před rokem +3

      Thank you for the clarification I am actually an A&P IA myself. I just use FAR instead of 14 CFR for simplicity and time. I try to keep these videos somewhat basic as not to overload newbies with information

      Love it.

      First I would say understand as much of the material as possible and memorize your practice tests until you get consistent 100's. Some people have also suggested using Dauntless test prep and say that it is a little more accurate. I have never used it so I can't say much about it personally.
