If you pressure wash the dirt from roots before cutting you will find some of the most beautiful grain in those stumps. Everywhere a root comes in produces crotch grain.
G'day Dan, that was a porker of a walnut for sure most of what I recover is blow down you need to get a permit to cut a tree down down here and only then if it's dangerous if for developments you have to plant one hundred for every one in it's place. felling a standing tree is becoming that rare I have to stop and think about it 🤔👍.
