If it smells clean, it is clean! I actually do the same practice. In my microbiology class I did a swab of my scalp and a swab of my partner's scalp who had washed her hair only a half hour prior. She had way more microorganism colonies than me! I would love to see a real experiment about this!
Don't take her advice. If your wife's hair falls out the optimum ammount of time she should wash it is every 3 or 4 days. Not washing the hair for 1 week causes more seborea, which causes more calvitie. This is only for poor people. Now, that we all have warm water we should wash our hair at least twice a week in order to remove the seborea that accumulates in the roots and causes the hair to fall.
You should take her to a doctor, to make sure if it's really hair shedding and not hair breakage (people tend to confuse the two) if it's only hair breakage, she can regrow it back by using strengthening products like I did with mine. Good luck !
Sadly no :( My hair gets oily the second day and is really obvious with my relatively straight blonde hair so I have to wash it everyday other day, my sister washes her hair every day yikes
i only wash my hair once a week and i work in a warehouse, my hair actually looks healthier and more tamed amd controlled. you don't have to explain yourself to the haters. love you girl. xxx
ohhh, im not ethnically black, but i have thick hair... sounds like a nice alternative to shampooing all of the time, since there are so many natural oils that could be stripped.
I am 64 years old. When I was growing up nobody washed their hair every day. In general, people were clean and had good hair. You washed it on Saturday and set it for church on Sunday. We used some hair spray but not all these products they use now. I guess if you perspired heavily or had very oily hair you might have washed more frequently. But I was amazed when I learned that people began to wash their hair every day or so. I still was my hair once a week. In summer, being outside more, I shampoo as needed. But if I washed every day my older hair would be so dry I would look like a hag, Ha! I think a natural shampoo and conditioner is good but pricey. My hair is doing fine.
I'm white and natural blonde with long curly hair....I only wash my hair once a week. I also use organic coconut oil on my hair when it's dry....I'm 70 with very little silver....it blends in with my blonde :-)
This is an older vlog, but here I am expressing. You are a beautiful soul Kristina. Your way is beautiful..you are so authentic and it shows! If anyone is spiteful or negative it is simply because they are envious and jealous of what you have and how amazing you feel and are. I Love you; keep shining your dazzling self I actually enjoy it very much!! I also take what you share to heart because I believe that you have truly experienced and proven to yourself that Vegan/raw vegan is possible and it does reap exordinary benefits health and beauty wise. I am in awe and appreciate your vlogs when you post them.
My two year vegan anniversary is tomorrow! I have a chronic illness called Sickle Cell Anemia and I lost my hair from my first round of intensive chemotherapy in October of 2013. Fortunately my hair has grown back even longer and I've just started my second round of intensive chemo. I now have plans to donate my hair. It's about 18" in length and I'm probably going to grow it out for another year. Btw, Black women have been doing this for EONS. Glad you made the switch 🌱 #GoVegan
When she acts like washing your hair once a week is extreme but you're black and you've been doing it your entire life. I didn't even know people used to wash their hair more than once a week wth
@@gdlomax Just squish some hibiscus flowers and leaves in water. Strain and use it to wash your hair. Massage scalp and hair with it and rinse with normal water. You can also blend it in a blender and strain it.
+natmatt i meant this message to Kristina because an easy way of ruling it out is: it cant be vegan if an animal is taken advantage of. if you wanna dig deeper in the reasons why it isnt vegan, well mainly because of the many terrible practices in the honey harvesting/industry.
+natmatt Animal products can _never_ be vegan. No exceptions. You can argue that it's good for you, blah blah, that it doesn't harm them, but it still isn't vegan purely because it's an animal product and contradicts the definition of what veganism is.
Same. I have pretty long hair and I wash it once a week. People are always surprised why it doesn’t get oily, and that’s because the less you wash you hair, the more time it takes for a lot of oil to build up 😋
Not very far into the video yet but I wanted to add that my "sick hair" fell out too! It freaked me out at first bc I had just switched to homemade shampoo bars. The hair loss lasted about a month and then all these new healthy baby hairs sprouted up like weeds after a rainstorm! my hair has made a full recovery now. amazing :)
I just have a question. I've been vegan for about a week. I have been starving most of the time and I eat a decent amount of food. My family says it's the protein, what am I doing wrong?
+Maria jose Rubio depending on what you're eating, you might not be getting enough calories! If you go from eating meat and dairy (in which meals have A TON of calories) to going vegan, you might find that you need to eat way more food than usual to get the same amount of calories as your body is used to having. Especially if you're eating raw. Just listen to your body and if you're hungry, eat! :)
For folks on a budget, i recommend using any Vegan oil of your choice as a leave in conditioner. I personally use walnut oil as it's great for your memory.
If one is residing in a cool clime then washing one's hair weekly can seem reasonable, especially if one's hair looks like Mufasa (as Kristina calls her hair) but in a polluted, tropical location that would prove to be unhygienic.
Miss Kristina PLEASE have your grandmother join you to show how she makes her no-no-poo shampoo! I really enjoy the videos you've shared with your aunt and mother. Such a beautiful family you have. I bet your grandma is a sweet lady who could teach your fans a lot with her wisdom!
I use ayurvedic mud masks to shampoo and condition my hair. Like amla (dried powdered Indian gooseberry) and aloe vera juice or apple cider vinegar with calcium bentonite clay.
A lot of Black natural hair women do that all the time. Its normal. Doesn't build up greasy hair for most of us, because we need those natural oils having curly hair.
I'm white and I wash my hair like every week or two weeks because the oils really do help the curls a lot! One of my African American friends told me that and it worked so well!
For sure! I'm actually doing a similar video for curly girls in general. Curly hair of all races can do good with minimal shampooing, all you need is a good cleanser, no-poo to get rid of build up.
14th Ivy That's a silly argument. It's like saying that it's ok to drink milk as long as you harvest it naturally without harming the cows....it's ok to eat eggs as long as you take them without hurting the chickens...it's ok to wear fur as long as you shave off the fur without hurting the animal... etc.
?? should we then not eat blueberries cause bears eat it, or any wild berries/fruits, roots or nuts. cause some animal is bound to need them? This is getting out of hand. think about it. i wonder why humans almost always take anything "good" they find and turn it into a religion and then hit others in the head with it, trying to control them. I do not see any harm in eating these things, neither animal produce as long as the animals are not harmed in the process. in nature there is abundance this is, so we all should be able to share these things. what matters is respect for all life and common decensy to not destroy the planet animals, nature or eachothers in the process it should be balanse co existance, symbioses you know. i think vegans have a lot of sence in the way they understand that the way things are in society today it is unsustainable and we need a change. just dont do the mistake of creating a new totalitarian belief system that undermines truth in order to make a point. dont throw common sence overboard. The day the lion eats grass will be a better world for shure but until then why dont we try to make better solutions and promote respect for all living things but also grateful and enjoy the life they bring. :)
Sofie72 I stopped reading your comment right after the first sentence because clearly you don't understand veganism so I'm not going to waste my time explaining it to you.
Omg, so many comments about honey not being vegan!!!! YES! We know!!! But nothing was said about beer! And you guys need to lighten up. She is passing down her family traditions, neither of which ( Lebanese or Equadorian) are vegan. You don't have to use it if you don't want to... 🙄🙄🙄 but at least be appreciative of what she is sharing with us!
Goddess Tips: Do not look yourself in the mirror. Instead, wash the face with only water when taking a bath or shower. Then put on something natural like aloe vera gel, with olive oil or coconut oil, you can even rub your skin with mango and avocado-skin against yours after you’ve eaten the fruit :) Spend time in nature, and watch all the beautiful trees and listen to the birds. You will feel refreshed and beautiful. Keep close to real friends that love you natural. And by being true to yourself with self-love and self-respect and self-confidence, you show the men you love that you are worthy love. Love and respect yourself and others will love and respect you
Women have to take care of themselves because they love themselves, not to show men that we are worthy of love. Where did you get this idea. Do men take care of themselves because they want to prove something to women? Nope... Love yourself first.
I'm a hairstylist and a HUGE part of having healthy hair is not washing it often. I wash mine every 1-2 weeks. That's probably the major factor. I have a whole video on it on my channel. Also, your scalp adjusts by itself to washing less often. Diet and genetics are the other major key factors :) Malibu and (some) Paul Mitchell products are my favorite vegan and cruelty free hair brands to use! Did you mention honey in this??
+Sarah Rosenfelder totally agree! I didn't know Paul Mitchell's products were vegan?!? That's awesome! Honey isn't vegan, but it's my grandmothers original recipe. You can modify by using maple syrup or something similar.
yup! thanx for mentioning the adjustment aspect. The human body (hair included) is very adaptable... a bit of a mess for thin/fine hair at first, but even that type will eventually balance out
curly hair people like myself also don't do it all the time. Our natural oils don't spread through the hair as easy, therefore it needs a little bit more time.
+Riley Corkery my boyfriend has long hair and he had insane dandruff at some point. He did not want to touch any dandruff shampoo lmao. What we did was coconut oil masks, sunbathing more his hair, swimming in salt water oceans. The salt water seemed to kill that scalp or something. Now his hair looks better than mine...>.< like it so beautiful I get jealous
I have curly hair and don't use heat in it. Some parts are super curly and some are just wavy or straight. My hair doesn't know what it wants to be. I'm guessing she has the same problem too.
Having curly hair myself I would assume it's from putting her hair behind her ear or clipping it back or brushing it out. You don't need heat to style hair, curly or straight. I can get mine pretty straight by letting it air dry while wearing massive curlers.
I'm arab and most of arab people wash their hair once a week, what she says in this video is 10% right, I use to wash my hair 3 times a week before until it dried out because of all the chemical products I put in it, ever since I stopped doing it and stuck to ashing it once a week it got so much better, actually the longer I forget to wash it the better it gets , when I really nee to wash it more than once a week I make sure I add up natural oils and let them sink in overnight a wash it the day after o that it wouldn't dry out, I really recommend it for people who have problematic hair if you're afraid it'd look greasy just wash the front part of it, or wear something like hat or anything during the last days of the week until your hair gets better and healthier, and always make sure to oil the endings because they tend to dry out a lot, quit the heating and add calcium to your diet or for non-vegan people put some white eggs on it few hours before washing it and it would make your hair much stronger and healthier . Yes I'd smell yuck but the result is wonderful .
your hair is beautiful! YOU are beautiful! I love how your on the natural move! Natural hair in my opinion applies to ALL hair types from the straightest to the kinkiest! Its all beautiful. People are trolls on the internet, especially in the comment section! Keep doing you girl, you look amazing 😍
This video is last year's so you probably won't see my post. I am a new subscriber and I'm just LOVING your page! You mentioned being sick, and I will continue to watch your videos to see why. I'm critically ill at this point, pretty much confined to my bed for 22 hours a day, I'm 42 years old, lost my dream job as a flight attendant, I now have zero income and no insurance. I am very very sick and scared. I spent 8 months in the hospital and was on a feeding tube for 15 months. Approx 95% of my stomach was removed, I've had six major surgeries. My body cannot really metabolize food and nutrients to survive. I'm off the feeding tube but can only eat yogurt and baby food. I'm nauseated 24 hours a day, and have extreme thrush. I haven't had a true solid meal in 2.5 years. I'm seriously malnourished and due to that, my teeth began rotting at the roots and crumbling as they are dying. I have to get ALL 28 of my teeth removed tentatively in June 21st. I had a minor heart attack about 5 weeks ago due to malnutrition and dehydration. With all this, I've lost so much hair but because I'm still so sick, it's not growing I watched your video on Jackfruit and I'm going to see if my mom can get me one, she us my caregiver :( I really would love to chat with you....yes I've watched and follow other people on raw diets but I love how you explain things and you have a wonderful demeanor. Well hope you see this and I'm hollywood74 on FB! Also, you are so beautiful and your hair is GORGEOUS!!!
Isn't the hair outside your scalp dead? I mean it makes no sense for it to fall out so much on a Vegan or Raw Vegan diet, as mine did. I lost 60%. May I ask the scientific explanation behind this? "Sick hair falls out" Thank you,
While the outside is dead, it's still attached to the hair under your scalp, the root of the hair, and the hair follicle, which is not dead. When experiencing anything that can shock the body the follicle will sometimes release the root. A diet change can do that. If you've been vegan for only a short time then I wouldn't worry about it. If after 3-6 months you don't notice a lot of baby hairs growing back then take a look at your diet and make sure you're getting everything you need and eat more of a variety of fruits and veggies. Try the site cronometer to see if you're missing anything. Another option is a vegan multi vitamin. I know this isn't a popular fact within the vegan online community, but some vitamins need the presence of fat in order for your body to be able to absorb the nutrients. Try half an avocado every day or every other day. Or 1/4th teaspoon of chia seeds. You can put them in a salad or smoothie.
Julianna HM Blah blah blah. I stopped reading after a few lines when you accused me of saying stuff I didn't say. Take your crazy drama argument starting butt somewhere else. I don't play with trolls.
Your hair naturally sheds hair as follicles shut down and other start growing hair again. Time and lifestyle changes can cause this. So actually it's not "sick hair" as she calls it. But then again she seems to think non vegans are unhealthy.
Jessica Giraldo Not only that non-vegans are unhealthy, but that somehow raw vegan (which is a low fat diet) is a fountain of youth and perfect health. Her hair looks no different now than it did years ago, except now it looks dull, old and greasy. She's just talking about it. She also claimed her eye color changed from "getting clean" through raw vegan, but if you look up the scientific reasons this can happen, the only time it happens "naturally" is due to hormonal changes. The other time it happens is when someone goes to an eye doctor to have the color removed. In addition, she is claiming that the majority of people on the planet (that are brown eyed) are unhealthy and have unclean diets. But the teenagers believe everything she says, only because it's a newer concept in dieting, creating a low fat diet that's just a different type.
Kristina, you catch alot of grief first some of your claims and statements. I cannot afford that lifestyle, however I do love your enthusiasm for the lifestyle. I enjoy your videos
Yes! Baking soda! I use it just by itself and then put tiny bit of coconut oil in my hair afteewards and leave it in. Done this for 3 months, love it. Baking soda is so great, it's got so many uses. Wish I had seen this clip sooner, could've quit shampoo sooner. Thank you for these videos, Kristina! :)
research it.... its pH damages your hair, similar to a dying process... thats why u need a vinegar, so your hair isn't ruined, although it's still a very damaging process
Baking soda is highly alkaline and, if used excessively, be detrimental to the acid mantle of the scalp which does better with slightly acidic products around the range of 4.5 to 5 5. Even if you don't notice it at first, the damage to scalp and hair from repeated baking soda use is cumulative. It's undeniable that baking soda is a great cleaning agent, but be sure to test the ph level of diy products w/baking soda if you're going to be using it on your body. (Comment is based on my own personal research and knowledge as chem geek and mindful diyer.)
+Anonymous Person I've already commented on this several times. My grandmothers recipe calls for honey, but you can use maple syrup instead. I also recommend other vegan products in the video.
+Merry Clouds the bees are still the ones that work to get the honey so humans just stealing it unnecessarily doesn't really seem very ethical simply considering it isn't necessary. I really don't know much about beekeeping though. What do humans give to the bees/provide/help them with? (I am just curious and not trying to start an argument)
Red rhassoul clay is awesome as a shampoo substitute . I mix it with he shou wu and brahmi powder and add water to make a clay. I wash my hair w it once a week. It does the most amazing things for my hair. Much love!
I used to wash my hair everyday, now I do it once a week and I noticed a huge improvement! I have knee length bc of my religion and beliefs, and for real, washing my hair once a week made my hair so healthy!💖 I love your channel, I would love to move into zero waste products, I started with deodorant and now I'm moving to shampoo and conditioner
it really just depends on you. long drawn out gentle detox or strong detox. it's all equal really. some drink tea but it's not really necessary or naturally hygienic.
I hear a slow transition is best. For example, start by having one fully raw meal a day (like a smoothie or juice for breakfast). Then start increasing the amount of raw fruits and vegetables that you eat during your other meals until eventually it becomes your primary food. Even if you never go fully raw, you'd still be eating a lot healthier! :-)
This would be a great new video to do to help people. I went raw in one night and never went back. It depends on your personality. Are you an all-in or wean your way in kinda person?? Both can be good depending on what you are comfortable with. I talk about this in my book as well! Many hugs to you!
Yes. I too am Poo less SHAMpoo that is . Ankle length hair, trim it when it needs but have used apple cider vinegar diluted in distilled water w/essential oil of lavender and rosemary to wash once a week also. I can’t wear it loose and free all the time tho or it gets sat on or stepped on. There’s a Soapless shampoo out now however called “Uncle Harry’s” ingredients are: Soapnut powder, reverse osmosis water, grapefruit seed extract, essential oils of eucalyptus, orange, rosemary and tee tree. I just discovered this so not sure how to honestly rate it. Also another thing I do often is slather freshly cut aloe Vera gel into my hair then rinse. It grows EVERYWHERE around me but I realize not all places is it readily readily available. Coconut oil is my favorite go to for the bottom three + feet length. I LOVE that there are other people that do similar hair care. Kristina, you’re a beautiful person. Just recently found your videos Aloha and MAHALO nui loa! 🌴 ☀️
Re-the no-poo thing: I have super greasy hair and skin and used to have to shampoo daily. Ten years ago I began the vinegar/baking soda method. Fantastic. After the first couple weeks my scalp normalized and I have only had to wash it once a week for the past decade...BUT...it turned my hair orange. So I am back to (an organic) shampoo...but still only need to shampoo once every week or two. No, it doesn't stink. I think my raw vegetarian diet has really helped keep it normalized. Yes, raw vegetarian: 95% raw. I eat egg yolks from my happy chickens and raw cheese I make from milk from my friend's goats (they are happy also). The other five % of my diet is good-quality beer. Some raw foodies drink coffee. I'm allergic to it. Beer in the evening is my happy vice. Lime or lemon juice has been my deodorant for ten years. Best ever. Why people spend $ on deodorant is beyond me when lemon juice is SO much better
I'm a Syrian girl so I have thick curly hair what do think about almond oil for the hair is it good?? Your amazing I really like your videos your beautiful ❤️🌹
+Rawhealthbitch Hi :) I've used Deva products for about 4 years ,every other day . But lately I am dealing with itchy scalp and dandruff !!! I've found out that it could be bc of excessive dryness . I want to try Kristina's way. How can I detangle my very curly hair after this? And I am afraid of protein build up when I use coconut or almond oil? (Do oils have expiration day btw :)
i started using shikakai powder with the reetha and amla powder. all natural. and i use fenugreek tea instead of water to make them into a paste. so far i like it
I can't really agree with that. I see explanations like this one about genetics as something like a good excuse for some people so that they can do nothing and explain it as "well it's just genetic, I can't do anything". I'm not talking about you in specific, I'm talking in general
agusiaaa5 I'm not saying I can't do anything. I can do a lot of things. This comment is not about me. She is a very attractive, genetically blessed woman. A healthy diet enhances her overall good genes.
agusiaaa5 It's not important whether it's an attack or not (didn't think it was an attack anyway). Just replied to u about what I think of your comment.
Kind hearted, healthy, beautiful and wants to help others - the exact opposite of what he trolls/haters are! You do seem like you long for a partner though, someone to hold you not just make love. Hope i'm not being cheesy or inappropriate here. I care about you like i care about myself, same goes for others.
I wash my hair once a week and I'm not a vegan tropical girl that eats on a diet and I use shampoo that are just any random thing. And my hair is fine? No hate tho. Love your hair 🙌
Pineapple 11 same but I use sulfate free etc. bc the red...my hair is way more longer n healthier looking even with all the dying ive done and my sugar filled diet. This women has no idea WTF she's talking about
Kristina I truly believe that everything you say comes out of you with the best of intent. You seem so full of love and compassion. BUT I think it's dangerous for you to speak about things you don't know about. You are not a doctor, dietition or nutritionist. You draw conclusions about the body that, while they may seem logical to you, are simply not true. Hair doesn't fall out because it's unhealthy. Hair is dead; it's not relaying information about it's condition back to the body. It's much more likely that your hair fell out because your body was shocked by the sudden drastic change in your diet. This is relatively common but not a good thing as it's a sign your body is extremely stressed by the sudden change. This is also common for people who drastically change their diet and lose weight too fast. That's why your hair came back- because eventually your body got used to your new diet and calmed down. It's dangerous for you to draw conclusions not based in science and for you to portray hair loss or a loss of menstruation in a positive light. The main causes for these things are stress, malnourishment (too few calories), nutrient deficiency, thyroid conditions, etc. These are all harmful conditions that are not to be taken lightly or ignored. Please, for the sake of the young/ignorant people watching your videos, stop spreading false and potentially dangerous information. I mean personally, from a nutritionist's point of view, I think the whole raw vegan message is harmful to people's health long term but that's another issue entirely
Well. She is into living naturally, and you seems to be into the meat and industrial ways thats overloaded with chemicals. The more natural one lives the better. Its a fact. We are living walking energy. The society like us to be non healthy consumers and not think for ourselves. Kristina is a wonderful example and rolemodel for taking responsibility for her own health. Most people are into mainstream food and health treatments but who is most healthy? Who get the flo and all the common health issues? We are living in 2017 and people are eating pills like sweets these days and its a vaccine for everything. How come people are so sick...if the industrial made sprayed food are so healthy? The young once are waking up. Thank God for this. Ine/53, norway.
Amy G so you recommend SAD diet? Where injecting animals with harmons and people are getting sick and die on alarming basis, pharmaceutical in every corner of the street and busy filling prescriptions, Your Pharma lobby is the biggest killer and you guys will never be successful and finally people will find truth through independent media and mainstream media will be defeated!!
Did y'all even read her comment.... She never said she was against veganism she said RAW veganism can be dangerous..... Which it can be if u don't take your vitamins and crap which this CZcamsr advertises not to....
Amy G exactly that's why if you eat meat you should go to flexitarian then kinda vegetarian then vegetarian then vegan you have to slowly do it so it's not sudden and a shock
Also you might try onion juice / sulfur is said to invigorate hair follicles.Hopefully U' will try this - I would love to see the difference in you're Hair.
+Soymilky my point exactly...that's why I recommend other VEGAN products in the video. You don't have to use my grandmothers recipe. You can replace the honey with maple syrup.
ohw how nice. hey thanks for your comment yeah i remember at vegan planet in vienna i saw also hemp shampoo.... i also try to plant my own Brennnessel to get a lot of leaves, collect them and mix it and use the green paste for washing my hair. As she said, i do not want to use products from grocery any more because it´s better to support people who produce a vegan product. you´re right. the hemp shampoo i saw was not in plastic. i liked that. :)
I've done this since birth, and I'm not black. I'm just really lazy and don't like waisting water. plus I have curly hair and the less I wash it the curlier and prettier it looks
I totally understand about washing once a week, I do the same thing. My hair is fluffy and not oily, I only use natural things on my hair now. I picked up some methods from watching some eastern Indian hair washing methods using Amla, shikakai, and Arita. But lately have been trying just soap nuts and horse chestnuts! Yes, horse chestnuts have natural saponins in them! For soap nuts soak them in a big jar of hot water then shake a lot, then pour into a safe plastic jug ( no glass in the shower) like a milk container. Same for horse chestnuts but cut them up first, or soak to soften then cut. Love to hear if anyone else tries this or uses this! Btw my hair is long too.
I don't know who you are but your helping me alot thank you so much for making videos like this. I need to learn how to get vegan right now I'm vegetarian I'm trying my best to change my lifestyle. Please keep making videos like this cause I really need help I've been doing alot of research about turning vegan. Thank you so much for posting these types of videos keep up the good work.
Kristina, I am glad someone else only washes their hair once a week. I do not use product, rarely used blow dryer or any hot irons, but I did use commercial shampoo/conditioner, that did cause some build up. I am now using Ayurvedic and it works great for my self. I have long hair, not as thick as yours. hair does so much better with nature not commercial. hugs
i been washing my hair once a month with homemade shampoo, daily with only water. my curls are sick. i get compliment daily on how my hair looks just cause they told you to shampoo your hair daily it doesnt mean its right
The longer your hair gets the more weight...which over times can make curly hair become straight or wavy. Very common for females with very thick hair.
Gouri Anand yeah lol it's true my step mom had super long hair and it just had a slight wave. One day she got a bob and these curls just popped up and I thought she was curling it until she told me it was her natural hair
I have only begun to use this product, but so far I like it very much. I am hopeful that this will help my problem. Argan life Shampoo makes my hair very soft.
I have to wash my hair everyday because i have relatively thin, fine, and oily hair. Im vegetarian so I have a better diet than I used too. But If I don't wash it, it gets really oily. I feel like that might just be my hair type
I've had the exact same problem and had to wash my hair every other day if not everyday. But after I started washing my hair with calia shampoo and John Masters Organics my hair stopped being oily. Now I can go a whole week without washing it and nobody will tell the differnt:D Good luck and Greetings from Norway:)
Just out of the blue, I stopped washing my hair and it went on for 6 days. It wasn't oily or smelly at all. I was using EO shampoo and Lush conditioner and noticed that as I was using better (vegan) products on my hair, the need for washing it daily went away. Peace.
I too have very oily fine thin hair. it was when I was going through puberty when my hair became oily, no washing was helping. I'm 30 and have to wash my hair every 12 hours or it looks soaking wet. I am changing my diet and haven't noticed any change yet.
I do too. its because the more you wash your hair , the more you strip it of its natural oils so it over produces them causing your hair to be more oily more often. Go through a transition phase and your hair will adjust when you start washing it less . Your oils will balance out and you'll wind up having to wash it less
I use natural soap that has some baking soda in it.been doing that for years.I love it.never use anything else.I barely use it as soap either.water and slouching with salt mixed with good oil If I need.wish I had water purifier but in rental apartments😟
So many nitpick at this young lady first EVERY thing she say. my question is why the heck are yall watching her videos. find another person who practice the vegan lifestyle and leave her alone
Seriously, all they're doing is nitpicking at her saying "sick hair" even though she explained what she was saying. And they didn't like that or her life style so they're picking at her and being know it alls. Well i admire her! If i didn't love my meats i would be doing the same thing!
@@iriskoomi2857 they are racist haters. They have done it to me as well. Bullies. I hope this lady didn't get hacked Etc. They love doing that too. Jealous of her beauty....... I hope it makes their butts itch.
Hair also falls out when your anemic and low in iron. So you may have been low in iron which is very common with women who are low in b12, folate or iron.
+Mell k. I've already commented on this several times. My grandmothers recipe calls for honey, but you can use maple syrup instead. I also recommend other vegan products in the video.
This video was truly inspirational! I used to wash my hair every or every other day until I was about 19 years old, I went to Africa and had my hair braided which made me unable to wash my hair for two weeks and since then I don't wash my hair as often - it varies, but I can't remember the last time I washed my hair more than twice a week! I do use dry shampoo though. I'm so glad to hear someone else say that they don't feel the need to wash their hair after working out! My own father thinks it's disgusting that I don't wash my hair when I've been sweaty, but like you said, if my hair doesn't smell or feel dirty why should I wash it? I struggle with eczema prone skin, and I'm supposed to maintain my body's natural oils as dry skin means more eczema for me, and my scalp is no exception. I'm new to your videos so I don't know if you've talked about this before, but I wondered if you have an opinion on Lush products? I use the "veganese" conditioner, just to take an example, and I find it funny that it says "also suitable for non-vegans/vegetarians" on the bottle :D (I'm vegetarian, not vegan, myself).
Julie Kristine cool story 😊 but try not to braid / corn rows your hair or tight pony tails etc, it pulls on the roots which causes the roots to become fragile and you loose hair specially around the hairline which is more sensitive, also it turns into a Condition ( traction alopecia ) where the hair won't grow back in that area if severe
*Exotic Lovespell*87 thanks, I didn't know this! I've only had my hair braided like that once many years ago, it's not something I do a lot, so I think I'll be fine, but thank you for the information! :)
I wondered about Lush's products myself, since I wanted to go No-Poo because of damaged and dry my hair had gotten. I only checked out their shampoo ingredients and they all contain sulfates so I gave their brand a pass and found a local-ish brand that looked all natural. I don't know about their conditioners though.

If it smells clean, it is clean! I actually do the same practice. In my microbiology class I did a swab of my scalp and a swab of my partner's scalp who had washed her hair only a half hour prior. She had way more microorganism colonies than me! I would love to see a real experiment about this!
My wifes hair is starting to fall out,so im going to follow your advice and help her grow her lovely long hair back!
Good luck !

I thought washing your hair once a week is a normal thing...? _well for black afro hair it is_
Sadly no :( My hair gets oily the second day and is really obvious with my relatively straight blonde hair so I have to wash it everyday other day, my sister washes her hair every day yikes
And in winter, maybe even less frequently!
I also thought it was normal xD I also have afro hair but I straighten it
most times a week is still damaging for afro hair
Be. Wise: Is there people who does'nt brush their hair everyday? Wow, weird.
This hair washing once a week is like a ritual for us curly girls
EXACTLY!
Ya sometimes I push it farther in quarantine and throw it up in a ponytail 🥱😂
Oh yes
Once in 2 week for me😆
Not only curly girls do this
i only wash my hair once a week and i work in a warehouse, my hair actually looks healthier and more tamed amd controlled. you don't have to explain yourself to the haters. love you girl. xxx
as a black woman i can say that almost all of us wash our hair once a week, i can relate to this. it just strips your hair of its natural oils
some of us wash once a week and cowash in between. some go even longer. it varies with everyone but we definitely dont wash our hair everyday.
whats cowash?
+alyssa it's really good, you just wash your hair with conditioner.
ohhh, im not ethnically black, but i have thick hair... sounds like a nice alternative to shampooing all of the time, since there are so many natural oils that could be stripped.
yeah i work out a lot, I'm a basketball coach, so i sweat often from activity. ohhhh, got it! thanks!
Well, you did not have the polution we have today either. Hair get dirty From the dust cars and industrial polution in the air.
When I was kid, I used to wash it once a week ( bc of my grandma) and my hair was so healthy😞
I'm white and natural blonde with long curly hair....I only wash my hair once a week. I also use organic coconut oil on my hair when it's dry....I'm 70 with very little silver....it blends in with my blonde :-)
I am 42 and grow up that same way wow

Glad you made the switch 🌱 #GoVegan
may the Lord be with you
Yay! Congrats!!
When she acts like washing your hair once a week is extreme but you're black and you've been doing it your entire life. I didn't even know people used to wash their hair more than once a week wth

Just squish some hibiscus flowers and leaves in water. Strain and use it to wash your hair. Massage scalp and hair with it and rinse with normal water. You can also blend it in a blender and strain it.

honey isnt vegan
Depends
It doesn't depend. It is an animal product. DUMBEST ARGUMENT EVER.
+natmatt To educate you.
I have long hair, it gets washed once a week. More is just not needed.
I've very short hair and only wash it every 1 to 2 weeks .It is in excellent conditon. Same when it was very long :)
+LeaffyStar19 aha correct it depend in every ones body/hair.
Same
Same. I have pretty long hair and I wash it once a week. People are always surprised why it doesn’t get oily, and that’s because the less you wash you hair, the more time it takes for a lot of oil to build up 😋
Um, you must not exercise. Hair gets sweaty and dirty, especially if a runner like me . There’s dirt in the air, pollution and germs from the gym .
Not very far into the video yet but I wanted to add that my "sick hair" fell out too! It freaked me out at first bc I had just switched to homemade shampoo bars. The hair loss lasted about a month and then all these new healthy baby hairs sprouted up like weeds after a rainstorm! my hair has made a full recovery now. amazing :)
Can you please share your homemade shampoo recipe
My wife only washes her hair that often. She ALWAYS gets compliments on how beautiful her hair looks.
Thanks to you I am currently on my way to a vegan lifestyle!!! Thanks for inspiring me Kristina!!
+Dacy Myers thanks for the advice!!!
For folks on a budget, i recommend using any Vegan oil of your choice as a leave in conditioner. I personally use walnut oil as it's great for your memory.
A lot of natural hair women wash their hair once a week. I do. It's because of my hair texture, can't afford to lose a lot of moisture.
True, plus it doesn't get dirty within a day.

What if dirt gets in hair
I use ayurvedic mud masks to shampoo and condition my hair. Like amla (dried powdered Indian gooseberry) and aloe vera juice or apple cider vinegar with calcium bentonite clay.
A lot of Black natural hair women do that all the time. Its normal. Doesn't build up greasy hair for most of us, because we need those natural oils having curly hair.
I'm white and I wash my hair like every week or two weeks because the oils really do help the curls a lot! One of my African American friends told me that and it worked so well!
Elaine says rawr That's great! Curly hair in my opinion benefits better when not washed everyday 😊
For sure! I'm actually doing a similar video for curly girls in general. Curly hair of all races can do good with minimal shampooing, all you need is a good cleanser, no-poo to get rid of build up.
***** yes, indeed.
It's true. My hair looks better and healthy that way. Also since I'm natural I like to use natural products or make it myself
Why is Kristina not addressing the honey??? Honey is not vegan Kristina so can u explain why you use it for your hair?
Honey has many benefits for healthy hair. If it's harvested naturally without harm to the bees I don't see why she shouldn't.
+14th Ivy not true
14th Ivy
That's a silly argument.

FullyRawKristina Aaah I see. Yes, PM's website now states which products are vegan. And they're a cruelty free company! :)
yup! thanx for mentioning the adjustment aspect. The human body (hair included) is very adaptable... a bit of a mess for thin/fine hair at first, but even that type will eventually balance out
gigimc Yes! :)
This isn't such a big deal, is it?
Not really. A lot of people only wash once or twice a week, including myself. I have too much hair to wash frequently and it isn't necessary.
Good point! And no, it's not a big deal.
curly hair people like myself also don't do it all the time. Our natural oils don't spread through the hair as easy, therefore it needs a little bit more time.
Ju Assis I started using Deva Curl products and my curly hair LOVES it. I use a 'no pooh' cleanser and my hair stays so hydrated.
No I guess not, but a lot of people don't understand how to balance their hair out and her viewers, including me, requested this video :-)
if I don't wash my hair in 3 days I look like a crack head, dirty & oily.
Exactlyy
🙋🏻♀️
It takes a bit of time for your scalp to adjust. If you keep going and you gradually increase the days in between washing one by one it does adjust.

Why is one piece of her hair straight
because she flatironed it... duh?
She said she doesn't use heat styling any more.
+Ayverie Ablaze ok..... good luck
What are your feelings on LUSH?
I am vegan, but not raw and I can't believe how much better I fell overall

With all this, I've lost so much hair but because I'm still so sick, it's not growing

Jessica Giraldo
Not only that non-vegans are unhealthy, but that somehow raw vegan (which is a low fat diet) is a fountain of youth and perfect health.
please do not ever put baking soda in your hair...
Why's that?
research it.... its pH damages your hair, similar to a dying process... thats why u need a vinegar, so your hair isn't ruined, although it's still a very damaging process
That method is awful.
I tried it once and couldn't do it, my hair is dry enough without assistance haha
I put baking soda in my hair all the time....has pretty much eliminated my dandruff...i love using baking soda and apple cider vinegar..

Honey!?!? Honey isn't vegan
+Anonymous Person I've already commented on this several times. My grandmothers recipe calls for honey, but you can use maple syrup instead. I also recommend other vegan products in the video.
+Roman Setaffy yea but you'd be steals from the bees lol its an animal byproduct
honey thats debatable
+Merry Clouds the bees are still the ones that work to get the honey so humans just stealing it unnecessarily doesn't really seem very ethical simply considering it isn't necessary. I really don't know much about beekeeping though. What do humans give to the bees/provide/help them with? (I am just curious and not trying to start an argument)
Providing them a nice hive (if i'm not mistaken) so they don't gotta use an old hollow log or something? I think that's correct.
Red rhassoul clay is awesome as a shampoo substitute . I mix it with he shou wu and brahmi powder and add water to make a clay. I wash my hair w it once a week. It does the most amazing things for my hair. Much love!

If someone is planning to go fully raw, do you recommend a total conversion all at once or a slow transition? Also, do you ever drink tea? Thanks!!!
slow transition , slowly remove/replace certain things over a few months
I went fully raw 6 month ago at once and still can't say if it's bad or good.. And I don't drink tee
it really just depends on you. long drawn out gentle detox or strong detox. it's all equal really. some drink tea but it's not really necessary or naturally hygienic.
There’s a Soapless shampoo out now however called “Uncle Harry’s” ingredients are:
Soapnut powder, reverse osmosis water, grapefruit seed extract, essential oils of eucalyptus, orange, rosemary and tee tree.

I didn't attack you, I stated clearly that I wasn't talking about you.
agusiaaa5 It's not important whether it's an attack or not (didn't think it was an attack anyway). Just replied to u about what I think of your comment.
And she never replied back :(
So what makeup do you wear?
I use Tarte. It's natural and has a light very natural coverage. I apply a little coconut oil first to keep my skin moisturized.
+crpuravida2 most tarte has soy tho. for those intolerant or who wish to avoid soy. use 100% pure makeup instead.
100% pure brand
#nextvideo lol
FullyRawKristina Thank you!
Pineapple 11 make sure it's not sulphate, silicone, or anything bad
Where injecting animals with harmons and people are getting sick and die on alarming basis, pharmaceutical in every corner of the street and busy filling prescriptions,
Your Pharma lobby is the biggest killer and you guys will never be successful and finally people will find truth through independent media and mainstream media will be defeated!!
Amy G
Did y'all even read her comment....
She never said she was against veganism she said RAW veganism can be dangerous..... Which it can be if u don't take your vitamins and crap which this CZcamsr advertises not to....
Amy G exactly that's why if you eat meat you should go to flexitarian then kinda vegetarian then vegetarian then vegan you have to slowly do it so it's not sudden and a shock
Also you might try onion juice / sulfur is said to invigorate hair follicles.Hopefully U' will try this - I would love to see the difference in you're Hair.
"Why would you want to wash your hair with something that hurts other living beings?"
*uses honey and hurts other living beings*
????????????
+Soymilky my point exactly...that's why I recommend other VEGAN products in the video. You don't have to use my grandmothers recipe. You can replace the honey with maple syrup.
+Soymilky Honey doesn't hurt bees, as long as you buy local from an ethical beekeeper.
I understand you don't use honey, but from our view you directly referred a recipe listing honey, maybe a disclaimer that honey is not vegan xo
honey does hurt the bees, it is THEIR food, not OUR sweetener...
FRK was stating that honey is in her grandmothers og recipe, I'm sure she didn't intend for you to believe it is vegan.
I use a hemp shampoo that I love.
ohw how nice.
hey thanks for your comment yeah i remember at vegan planet in vienna i saw also hemp shampoo....
i also try to plant my own Brennnessel to get a lot of leaves, collect them and mix it and use the green paste for washing my hair.
As she said, i do not want to use products from grocery any more because it´s better to support people who produce a vegan product. you´re right. the hemp shampoo i saw was not in plastic. i liked that. :)
cool thanks for your information Cali. ;-)
You can get hemp shampoo from body shop x
Lizzy krueger where can I find some hemp shampoo
Lizzy I am truly so grateful I can now support my family with help of *Easy Laptop Life .c om*
The yucca plant is great for hair washing. You can find different ways to utilize the plant by Google yucca homemade shampoo.
. I've done this since birth, but am black
You must have beautiful hair :)
I've done this since birth, and I'm not black. I'm just really lazy and don't like waisting water. plus I have curly hair and the less I wash it the curlier and prettier it looks
same here!
It doesn't matter what color skin you are...love and appreciate you.
Most people only wash their once a week. It drys your hair out if you do it more.
+ExcelAndBeExcellent ❤️❤️❤️
I do, I have curly hair and don't find that I need to do more than one day unless I have product build up. I rinse my hair on day I sweat
🇬🇧 I only wash my hair once a week too and don’t use hot irons much these days unless I’m going out. My hair is in much better condition. X
Just use clay "Moroccan ghassoul" it smells good and does the job
Sounds like I need to start going vegan for my hair!
Can you make a video about raising a baby without animal products?it would be really helpful 🙂🙂🙂

I have long hair, not as thick as yours. hair does so much better with nature not commercial. hugs
i been washing my hair once a month with homemade shampoo, daily with only water.
my curls are sick. i get compliment daily on how my hair looks
just cause they told you to shampoo your hair daily it doesnt mean its right
How do you make your shampoo please?
I saw the title and was like: “wait! Why would anyone wash their hair more than once a week?”
Finer hair generally becomes a lot oiler quickly.
rye flour is also a very good nopoo! just make a paste with water or cider vinegar.
How is she vegan if she uses honey?
Honey is my grandmothers original recipe. I also sub in maple syrup.
'Pretty curly' ..... what? Your hair has a slight wave at the bottom ...
The longer your hair gets the more weight...which over times can make curly hair become straight or wavy. Very common for females with very thick hair.
iz L I Really need that then Lol b/c my hair is extremely curly to the point that it can get crazy! :/
Gouri Anand yeah lol it's true my step mom had super long hair and it just had a slight wave. One day she got a bob and these curls just popped up and I thought she was curling it until she told me it was her natural hair
Dont hate, appreciate
Peach her hair is naturally very curly, it’s not curly as usual in this video
I have only begun to use this product, but so far I like it very much. I am hopeful that this will help my problem. Argan life Shampoo makes my hair very soft.
I have to wash my hair everyday because i have relatively thin, fine, and oily hair. Im vegetarian so I have a better diet than I used too. But If I don't wash it, it gets really oily. I feel like that might just be my hair type
Yup, I can completely soak a base ball hat in oil if I go maybe 3 days without washing my hair. Ah, don't ask how I know.
Your oils will balance out and you'll wind up having to wash it less
the products that I put on my hair have chemicals, and my hair feels VERY GOOD !!
Any body wash or face wash recipes? For sensitive/oily skin?
Honey is not vegan.
Use maple syrup instead.
Is it just me or does her hair look kind of dry/crispy.....
No her hair looks soft. You are just a jealous hater.
Yes it does
Her ends did
It looks soft to me
Uhh . . . I think u need to have ur vision checked.
@@iriskoomi2857 Those nitpicking comments are ignorant ones, and what they are talking about does not even make sense.
People are jealous of her. It's easy to observe. Yes, they should stop immediately..
@@iriskoomi2857 they are racist haters. They have done it to me as well. Bullies. I hope this lady didn't get hacked Etc. They love doing that too. Jealous of her beauty....... I hope it makes their butts itch.
I wish i could only wash mine once a week :( my hair is so oily, I try to leave at least 3 days but it gets oily the day after i wash it :( xx
Sasha's I am truly so grateful I can now support my family with help of *Easy Laptop Life .c om*
Hair also falls out when your anemic and low in iron. So you may have been low in iron which is very common with women who are low in b12, folate or iron.
you use honey?
+Mell k. I've already commented on this several times. My grandmothers recipe calls for honey, but you can use maple syrup instead. I also recommend other vegan products in the video.
+Heather Nicole I asked a question..
Honey is really good for hair .
How much ingredients to put .like apple cider vinegar and baking soda ,Lemon juice
Wow !She's got beautiful hair. I want my hair to look like that.
I heard of washing it with rye flour, I haven't tried it yet but I'll try it as soon as my hair grows Bach (just shaved all off two weeks ago)
You kinda remind me of Tarzan 😂 don't know why
Dana LA it’s more Pocahontas to me.
I know! Tarzan🤣
@@quirkyquinn6687 Umm no. Pocahontas was not white.
Commenter Number One it’s her personality and hair that reminds me of her. Not skin. People these days. It’s just like how a black girl (forgot her name) is playing Ariel. Smh 🤦🏾♀️
In a good way! 💕
