New Orleans local here, just a few points of clarification.
Mardi Gras/Carnival season begins on Twelfth Night (Jan 6) and lasts through Mardi Gras day. It's a traditional holiday that follows the Catholic calendar, if you will.
Jazz Fest is not held in City Park. It's actually held nearby at the Fair Grounds in Mid City.
Festival season typically kicks off with French Quarter Fest all the way through Essence Fest, and then the festivals typically slowdown a bit. However, you can celebrate Louis Armstrong's birthday at Armstrong Fest during the first weekend of August in the French Quarter. There's a couple of other festivals that take place from Aug through October that specifically highlight local cultures and communities.
Finally, as a parent, I would highly recommend connecting with other parents when looking for a school for your child as well as visiting the school you're interested in if at all possible. Sometimes online reviews and ratings don't give a clear picture of the school, or you may find the school doesn't align with your child's needs. This is true for anywhere you live.
New Orleans native for 56 years. My dad was a NOFD District Chief and served 27 years on the Fire Department. The Crime is a huge Negative, the NOPD is very dysfunctional and response times is horrible. Another Negative is if your looking to buy property, taxes and insurance is insane. The Insurance industry has left the state every time there is a major hurricane that hits any part of the state (Look How much coastline sits on the Gulf😳) Then there is the Hurricanes. need I say more. Great place to visit but you don't want to live here IMO.
All FACTS!!! I lived in Nola for 8 years. I left and moved back home to Tennessee when I gave birth to my son. ❤

Do we live on the same planet because when I went to New Orleans two summers ago the locals were kind of ghetto and rude. I asked about this and people were saying that it was because of the hard times they have recently gone through during COVID.
Depends where you were at, New Orleans East is the Wild West, uptown and mid city is nice, the West Bank isn’t that bad
@@HeyItsMike985 i remember 40 + years ago when da east was IMMACULATE.
