Dealers CAN'T SELL Their Vehicles Anymore, So Now They're DUMPING THEM
In this video you will get to see what car dealers are actually paying for their cars and trucks at auction!
My name is Brandon and I am a used car dealer. I created Car Questions Answered to share the ins and outs of the used car market from my perspective. I share with you updates on car prices, what's happening at the dealer auctions, and what it's like being a dealer. My goal is to share information to help you make the best decisions while buying a car to save you money. I do not want car dealers taking advantage of you.

It's a shame dealers rather dump their vehicles at auction instead of giving us discounts to move it off the lot more quickly.
I think part of the issue is that the dealer doesn't want to be subject to after sale repairs/service. Just wash their hands. That said? I've wondered the same thing for years. Sell a car and gain a customer.
@@Sommers234dealers sell "as is" used cars everyday 😂 why would you even think that?
The problem is that the manufacturer won't let the dealer sell for less than their contract pricing.
@@Sommers234 you think they would sell it just to get the repair work
Everything cars, apartments, you name it, is price fixed by the internet now. It should be illegal but since no actual person is doing it and the market is simply complying with the algorithm its not... Pretty sure the exact mechanic of it is an analyst researches and values inventory based on internet values and then they leverage off that inventory at that value. Therefore if they lower the price they go into margin call because their inventory is no longer valued high enough to cover the collateral on their debt. At this point they firesell to reduce their debt which is less risky for them then lowering the price of their inventory on hand. Probably some mistakes in this story but its something like that.
I like that this guy specializes in cheap transport which many others don't think the margins are high enough on. If more people do that the market will become more fair because of local competition giving alternatives to people.
$18,000 for a car with 150,000 miles on it... Pure insanity And you know the dealer is going to sell it for $25K
4runners and toyota suvs and trucks hold their value very well because of their reliability
It had 150k but it has much more life left
@@mr.nobody1921 It all depends on the person who owned it before you. You'd better hope that it's in good working shape and you can get cheap parts...
@mr.nobody1921 do you like the technical toyota?
I live in colorado and prices are ridiculous in state. And yet California prices are surprising dropping line a stone because of thier emmissions standards people have to sell them. Where my rural county has no emmissions in colorado. So I'm saving up to buy car out there and drive back.
Sorry to report that dealers aren't caving in and still sticking to astronomical prices in Arkansas!
Where you at in Arkansas? Fulton county checking in.

I agree. Nothing seems to have changed around Ft. Smith.😮

18k for a Toyota 8 years old with 150k is stupid crazy.
I have driven Toyota since 1989 but the new ones have a lot of problems with the 2924
@lavernedofelmier6496 the toyota 4 runner and Tacoma market has been this way for many years.
It’s not that they paid $18k, but how much are they going to sell it for and who’s going to buy it?
$50K+ for new would be a level up stupid crazy
Dealers aren't dumping squat where I live. I.
Have no idea where you're at , but it's not reflective of any big city in america. Prices are still sky high and you can see cars sitting on dealer lots for 6 months to a year.
I'm in a small town and 3 years ago the local Ford dealer's (as well as GM and Stellantis) lots were empty. Today, the lot closest to me (Ford) is just jam packed. They still have new 2022's, never mind 23/24's.
how the hell could they not sell all their 2022 cars when they could sell everything they had at more than msrp??????? How greedy do you have to be?
And the ‘25’s are about to go into production.
It’s gotten so bad that dodge is stopping new truck production 😂
They still have “new” cars for sale from 23 and 22
@@DS-wo8wr25 rams are already on ground , I would know because I work at a dealership
@@MiteshDamaniasame in my area there are brand new 2022 nissan sentras.
If any of you have any plans to buy a 4Runner, do so now.
Once Toyota drops the V6 and goes with the turbo 4, you'll be driving a piece of garbage with a ticking timebomb of an engine.
i was dissapointed to learn my new 2023 accord has the turbo 4 cylinder engine in it. id be shocked if it lasts the 3 year 36k mile lease term without any issues. I was originally gonna keep it but after the lease comes due in OCT 2026 im turning it back in and getting a 4 banger mid 2000s corolla if i can still find one for cheap.
CLEAN AND OIL YOUR TURBO IT WILL LAST LONGER SO EASY TO DO MORE POWER THAN A V6
Or buy used, especially CPO.
It's all the junk dealers don't wanna deal with.
Those junk cars use to serve a purpose. They sell them to people just starting out in the world at reasonable prices. College kids, teenagers, early day mechanics, and various other people along those lines. They've killed that market and now people are running the FB marketplace gamibit.
It's nice to see the auction house people treating you guys so well compared to those a year ago who chased you away.
Jeez 40k for a gx460 with 75k miles??? Crazy times
They sell for around 47-50 online with that mileage
I could have gotten 65k out of it.😂
People don't subscribe because it's like when my mom use to watch days of our lives, I could miss 100 episodes and still know what's going on lol
The dealers are just starting to feel the pain of their years of greed. With New cars 30-50% overpriced and used cars 20-50% overpriced.
Thanks to the auction house for their hospitality!😊👍🏽
I might be your only subscriber who doesn't drive (live in a big city, so no car needed). Yet I absolutely love your channel. May you continue to grow and grow. Keep up the great work.
So if dealers cannot sell cars WHY ARE THEY IN BUSINESS? TO LAUNDER MONEY RIGHT?
2 years ago they made a Fortune
Sitting on tons of cash. Waiting for interest rates to drop.
@@dvaritek434be prepared to pay premium prices for mud quality vehicles then. Too much people on the sidelines
@@Flash413 i mean thats what the dealers are doing. They cry poor but i dont hear them going out of business. The salespeople might be hurting tho.
And even if there are people waiting on sidelines, (which i doubt) the affordability equation doesnt change. Even if rates drop, the days of no money down 70k vehicle purchases are over.
Prices are falling though the floor where im at....and no one is buying. It's going to keep crashing.
In my area they are still high. Only exception are EVs. Those dropped in price drastically.
Where do you live so I can by these "falling through the floor" priced cars.
Same, just need another 25% off and... maybe I'll think about buying 🤣 The dealers all seemed pretty adamant that they were okay holding inventory for a long time, let them taste the medicine 🤑
They are not crashing.
Crime scene…if you run across a 2016 convertible Camaro SS Hyper blue with the dual white racing stripes, 37k miles…it’s a crime scene…stolen in Irving, TX. 🤬🤬🤬
You need to post the vin. Atleast a partial vin.
Its probably in mexico.
Prob in mexico by now....

Great auction. That was fun to watch. Keep up the good work.

I enjoy the auctions. Having worked at a small preowned lot in the past...I don't miss the heat, rain, cold, snow ,and the walking. Keep posting those videos.
I bet you have a lot of parents buying their teenage their first car. $5k was my limit 8 years ago...nothing worth it in that price range...even as a salesperson...btw used truck prices were crazy back then too. Imo
That’s true. We had to spend 8500-12 to get a decent car and even then they needed deferred maintenance and repairs.
True 2 years ago I had 30k cash money at least 15 different dealerships told me oh we don’t want your money we prefer you finance. I told them I will never finance a vehicle again after losing my 2004 Chevy Silverado. I only had 1 more year to go and I still lost it after paying 500 a month for 5 years. That will never happen again the truck was only driven to work and back so it only had 45k on it. I made sure the oil and filter was changed every 3000 miles. Whoever got the truck got a hell of a deal
I'm 2003ish I had a 1500 limit. Came home with a 97 Beretta z26 in red. Pops wanted to buy me a convertible Ford topaz. Huge nope. I laughed so hard.
Why is there always a brand new TV in front of the auction block? Is it for a raffle or is it a bribe to get people to show up to the auction??
Hey, Brandon. I'm subscribed. Thank you for your service. Be blessed, my brother. 😊
Man ! I love this channel cause I’m learning !
The GX470 seems like it has more space in the back (and looks SO much better in my opinion), we love ours, had it for years, and we plan to just keep it going forever. My best friend's wife has the GX460 and they love it, but regret all the mods they did (screwed up the ride quality adding stuff and changing out the suspension).

Great Video! Thank you 🔥👏💪🫶
Here in the PNW cars/SUV's are sitting longer and price reductions are appearing more and more on Autotrader. Looking forward to December negotiating lower prices.
Love your creativity, it's inspiring!
Saw that 07 Prius with 156K miles. I have a 06 civic hybrid with 256K miles. My daily commute is 52 miles total. I replaced the hybrid battery on 2018 with a remanufactured battery that had a 3 year warranty ($3K) and the IMA battery/Engine light back on. The AC condenser unit replaced 2021 was costly because it was a hybrid so the dealership did the work. Overall if I could do this over I would have bought a regular civic ICE non-hybrid. Initially was getting 55 mpg and still decent now at 48 but I would rather get 37-40 mpg with a regular Civic or Corolla/Camry and have a wider choice of good mechanics that would work on the more expensive repairs instead of taking to the dealership.
The radio stopped working last year, but it keeps chugging and I'll keep driving it until the tires fall off. We just won't be paying for anymore costly repairs. I did drop the full comprehensive insurance for just basic PIP.
I'm a Gen x woman and I know how to drive a manual. 😂 Taught my husband how. I prefer them and they are ridiculously hard to find.
Auction video is always best video 😊
Hold on to your existing vehicle for at least another year unless you absolutely need to get another one.
Love your videos!
Been Subbed for a while :P
The GX 460 sold for how much? The auctioneer was saying $39K and you said, "too much" but never revealed the sale price...
Dealers and private sellers are NOT dumping car prices in colorado. They are still sky high .
It is not possible to get a car or truck under 200k miles , or that isn't broken.
Try looking at cars for sell in Texas. I recently bought a really nice 2021 Ford Ranger Lariat / Tremor for a decent price in Austin, TX.
Don't yell at me, Brandon. I've been subscribed.
My 2004 Dodge Intrepid is worth less than the oil in the pan, but I want it to run so I'm going to get it towed to a repair shop.
At a certain point, maintenance expenses are going to exceed the price of a new vehicle.

Agreed. And you better make sure there are decent service records!
you might want to take a road trip up here to Pittsburgh Pa, the prices are high and the lots are full, and they still aint taking even 1k off the price for any reason, i wanted a work truck that was sitting on lot since 2022 , still at 66k. still sitting next to other 66k trucks with no red tag in sight.
Love your videos lol.
Thats crazy money for that Camaro at 128k , but about the same up here after conversion naybe a little less- Awesome video Brandon 👍 Mark
How I bought a use camaro V6 for $7.9k it's a 2010 124k one owner, no accidents, all service was done at Chevy dealership I bought it off.
I took my Avalon to the Toyota dealership yesterday for an oil change and tire rotation. While I was there, I went through the used car and new car lots. Note that this dealership is a “no-haggle” lot; if you don’t like the price, hit the road, Jack.
- Used SUVs are still selling for close to MSRP, definitely at likely selling price (especially those sold pre-COVID).
- Either the Corolla, Camry, Prius, Highlander, and RAV4 are selling before they arrive, or the dealership is doing a bad job at ordering. Easily half of the new cars are pickups, with some bZ4Xs, a smattering of SUVs, and a couple of Crowns. Maybe sedans aren’t selling, but it’s difficult to imagine how they are going to unload all those trucks.
- My personal opinion: the Crown is a step down from the Avalon. And what with this two-tone paint scheme? It’s good it comes as a PHEV, but overall it’s not as classy as its predecessor.
Back in the day at any new car dealership. They would have what was called their wholesale lot, usually behind the dealership. You could pay cash and pick up something to run around with for under 200, or 300 hundred bucks. This was early 70's.
Im not over paying for nuthin. They can hold'em. Ill wait 👍🏽
When are they going to offer the public 50% off?
Never
Thousands of dollars for cars with thousands of miles, what a deal, LOL
So when will the car market fully collapse? I am waiting to buy a new truck, but not at the current price.
It’s not going to collapse or crater, but instead it’ll have generous discounts while keeping MSRP high. Personally, I’d be ready for a very generous Toyotathon or happy Honda days depending on your car faith.
hhaha and what price are you wanting to pay? This will be good im sure
As US equities continue to set records the economic bs heads to volume 11 so yeah we'll see just how massive the losses to be reported starting with Stellantis as the metal keeps getting moved despite being bankrupt operations everywhere now. In theory there will be found a low enough price as you show here. Great work!
That Mustang was definitely a crime scene.
Those prices look anything but cheap.
Looks like the housing market in new construction too. Crickets.
Guessing South Carolina? Once saw a truck there that was so rusted that I could see in his drivers side door and out the passenger side door. The beer, smoke, and chewing tobacco topped off the image.
It's very odd in S. America
It's hard to find a car under 25k.
Yet population only makes 6000k per year.
Pretty much the same in the US, the average new car is more than most people make a year
Being able to charge your phone is good idea. People in Houston are having to charge their phones in their cars.
Why’s that
They are still without power after hurricane Beryl.
My Prius has 155k miles. Expect it to go 350k miles like my brother’s car. No issues. Just oil changes and maintenance.

Bright blue 23 VW Arteon (very limited vehicle) on the lot over here at local dealer - no one wants it. It's been there since December.
i got a 2023 accord for 4500 dollars under MSRP brand new. that would be unthinkable just two years ago. Lots here were literally empty during COVID times. they were financing new corollas for 800 bucks a month and people were buying em. nowadays people cant even afford a 5000 dollar beater car let alone a brand new 100k truck. but the car manufacturers arent gonna sell em at a big loss, theyll just ship em back to be destroyed for the tax credits.
I’m watching what the dealers are paying and I have to tell their nuts!!! First and foremost anything over 100,000 , according to my mechanic is going to need a timing chain, his recommendation is nothing over 50,000!!!

Brandon, the Fred Anderson Auto Group lowballs what they give you for your trade, they don't have what they say they have in those auction cars where you was. They offered me $500 for my trade, Honda dealer across town offered the Carfax/Kelly Blue Book price which was $1,500 for my car. Brandon, just don't believe what you hear they want when bidding at that auction next time, go by what you know the car should sell for at auction!
