- The Lagos State Police Command has arrested popular musician Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable.
The controversial singer was nabbed on Tuesday following his alleged refusal to pay the debt he incurred when he purchased G-Wagon from a car dealer in the state.
According to reports, Portable had paid only N13 million after purchasing the vehicle, which was worth N27 million. He was said to have refused to pay the N14 million balance.

I have listened to Portable's music, especially, how he delivers the lyrics of his songs. I am undoubtedly persuaded that Portable's thuggish tendencies stem from certain medical conditions which include language disorder, communication difficulties, as well as significant emotional disturbance and behavioral difficulties when he was much younger. Without a doctor's diagnosis, the musician's predisposition to unlawful and anti-social behavior is very apparent. A good and qualified Special Educational Needs teacher will easily pick up the root causes of Portable's deviance. Ironically also, Portable's musical talent may also have a link to his disabilities and impairments.

In credit system, people are judged by their credit scores and not by their behaviour or way of life.
Also, failure to pay for goods is a civil offence and not criminal one. If he refuses to return the car or pay, the seller should approach the court to get judgement against him and claim his money.

The Police has no place on the facts so far disclosed. But the appearance of resisting arrest to resist arrest is not supportable.
Portable also should explore damages in the tort of false imprisonment due to the questionable arrest.
