Trumer Schutzbauten recently took over a rockfall fence testing facility located in Trento, Italy. It is a vertical test site using a crane to release test blocks into rockfall catchment fences in accordance with the testing guidelines EAD 340059-00-0106 (formerly ETAG 27). This site complements Trumer’s existing test site in Austria that uses an inclined cable car delivery system.
The site has already been put to use, conducting a comparison MEL test between inclined and vertical drop testing of a 1000 kJ rockfall catchment fence TSC-1000-ZD. Initial results prove that forces experienced during vertical and inclined tests are highly comparable, as is the overall reaction of the system.
