And have changed the terminology of ramcism.
War on poverty … done by Democrats right after being forced to to accept the Civil Rights act of 1964 (yes… fact, Democrats filibustered the civil rights act… on the bogus grounds it didn’t go far enough… believable if they were not the ones who created “Jim crow laws of the 40s, 50s and 60s in the south. Believable if they weren’t the ones who created all the memorials to dead Confederate soldiers. (Were not Republicans that did those things.!!)
Changed the terminology of racism to maintain a power base…. War on Poverty = blankets and Whisky for the natives of our inner cities .
Does NOT take 50yrs to make inroads into education and economic equality!!!! (Democrats have been running our inner cities since the 1970s.
People getting wise to what welfare is… now they change the terminology… with the same BS lies… Reparations! & Guaranteed incomes…. Push the narrative of 1619 … marxist critical theory…
Gov is not going to give black America reparations for slavery, and if they did… without having educations and economic equality… would produce the same effects as welfare.

Let me teach Mr. Owens the TRUE history of racism in the United States. Before 1964 Liberals populated both parties and it was the Liberals, NOT the conservatives who were passing civil right legislation. Civil Rights ISN'T a political party thing, it isn't Republican or Democratic. It IS CONSERVATIVE VS LIBERAL and has more to do historically with CONFEDERATE "CONSERVATIVE" SOUTH VS UNION "LIBERAL" NORTH.
You don't need to know too much history to understand that the South from the civil war to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 tended to be opposed to minority rights. 90% of members of Congress from states (or territories) that were part of the Union voted in favor of the act, while less than 10% of members of Congress from the old Confederate states voted for it.
Democrats in the north and the south were more likely to vote for the bill than Republicans in the north and south respectively. It just so happened southerners made up a larger percentage of the Democratic than Republican caucus, which created the initial impression than Republicans were more in favor of the act. Nearly 100% of Union state Democrats supported the 1964 Civil Rights Act compared to 85% of Republicans. None of the southern Republicans voted for the bill, while a small percentage of southern Democrats did. The same pattern holds true when looking at ideology instead of party affiliation.
The folks over at voteview.com/ , who created DW-nominate scores to measure the ideology of congressmen and senators, found that THE MORE LIBERAL A CONGRESSMAN OR SENATOR WAS THE MORE LIKELY HE WOULD VOTE FOR THE CIVIL RIGHTS ACT OF 1964, once one controlled for a factor closely linked to geography.
Minorities have a pretty good idea of what they are doing when joining the Democratic party. They recognize that the Democratic party of today looks and sounds a lot more like the Democratic party of the North that with near unity passed the Civil Rights Bill of 1964 than the southern Democrats of the era who blocked it, and today would, like Strom Thurmond, likely be Republicans."
After 1964 all the racist conservatives in the Democratic Party went Republican where they remain the party of racists until today. It is just a natural order of things that Conservatives are racist no matter what their affiliation.

The folks over at voteviewdotcom , who created DW-nominate scores to measure the ideology of congressmen and senators, found that THE MORE LIBERAL A CONGRESSMAN OR SENATOR WAS THE MORE LIKELY HE WOULD VOTE FOR THE CIVIL RIGHTS ACT OF 1964, once one controlled for a factor closely linked to geography.

I was born and raised in Warsaw, NY. A quiet little town in the rolling hills of western NY.
Warsaw was the birthplace of the abolitionist movement with the founding of the Liberty Party in 1839. The Liberty Party was founded on the principle that the Constitution is an anti-slavery document. The Liberty Parrty helped to bring the Republican Party into existence during the 1850’s. Warsaw was also part of the Underground Railroad. Several prominent members of the community were fined and/or jailed for helping people escape from southern slavery. It was in Warsaw, New York that the constitutional demands for freedom were first voiced politically.
Know your history. I’m extraordinarily proud to have grown up in the birthplace of liberty and freedom for all. 🇺🇸❤️

@@robtempe I had a longer response typed out, but I decided it wasn't worth it after about 15 minutes. Suffice to say, your view of liberalism is incorrect and exactly why the term classical liberal exists. The old fight has always been between conservatism versus progressivism.
If you knew from history, then you would know that oppression at that happened in the North and the South. The south had built an industry upon this. An actual established industry from the conception of the nation, a fact taken in by the founders. We now look back at that argument in horror. "How could they not outlaw slavery in the constitution?" Where the answer to that question that had they done that, the revolution likely would have failed because of how powerful the slave industry was. After the abolition of slavery, eugenics reports came out which "proved" what the southerners had known all along.
We never defeated the belief. It just evolved. Past slavery turned into forcing these communities to grow with no resources. Lack of resources led to many disastrous outcomes, education included. The education point would hit its head during desegregation and be used by segregation supporters to deny access to schools. We have so many examples. Some of them pointed out by the man in the video.
Anyway, relativism is a hell of a drug especially when you mix it with any progressivism. Read books. They exist. And not books from today. There is no better source than information of an age than from the recorders of that age.
There are many books out that explain the economic disparity and offer solutions for those disparities that would likely serve as a common good. Hardly are the ideas given any light, yet any criticism as the system as it is (which we could all agree is not just failing black Americans) is lambasted. Watch.
Welfare has caused more harm than good. Not only did the marriage rate of black Americans decline significantly, the overall wealth growth of black American communities stagnated compared to the decades prior. That isn't to say welfare or a social net system of sorts can not be beneficial. Other places make have been able to blend it into their needs. The American version of it however only works to hinder the growth and ability of the layperson while forcing them into difficult decisions on career advancement based on the availability of childcare. We subsidized a system that has continued to aggressively increase costs and force many into lifelong debt. When then built barriers to entry, to make it more difficult and expensive to climb the ladders in general. All in the same, we have allowed educational development to stagnate to a point to where many are illiterate.
If we want to argue any point of benefit to either party. Let's begin a discussion on how you subjugate a population.
There's more, but I cut one wall post to make another one. I don't want to make it bigger.

@@WallNutBreaker524 Well Mr. Owens need a history lesson:
      1) Back in the 1860's, the Northern Abraham Lincoln's Republican Party wanted to free the slaves.
      2) Back then the Democrats were mostly the southern land/plantation owners who were slave owners, white supremacist, and KKK. The South was completely racist Democrats.
      3) Back between the years 1861 to 1865 was the American Civil War and the cause of it was because of the slavery issue between the Northern and South. The South (Confederates) wanted to secede from the Union.
      4) Back then and right after the war was won and the slaves were freed. Slaves/Blacks enjoyed some freedoms and some blacks even joined the Republican Party in the South.
      5) The Southern Democratic slave owners weren't too happy and placed a set of "Jim Crow" laws. Jim Crow laws were state and local laws that enforced racial segregation in the Southern United States. They actually lasted thru to the 1970's.
      6) During the period (1930s-40s) after The Great Depression, Franklin D. Roosevelt's (Democrat) New Deal include relief programs for Blacks as well. When FDR died Harry S. Truman (Democrat) became president. A southerner who entirely overcame all of his personal prejudices, his heartfelt sense of fairness and his deeply-rooted faith in the US Constitution made him the first modern president to champion civil rights. Needless to say the Southern Democrats weren’t too happy with civil rights for black people. Notice these last 2 presidents were Democrats and not Republicans. DURING THIS PERIOD THERE WAS A SLOW DRAIN FROM THE FORMER RACIST SOUTHERN DEMOCRATS TO THE WEAKENING REPUBLICAN PARTY FORMERLY OF ABRAHAM LINCOLN.
      7) In 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson (Democrat) signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964. After signing the bill, Johnson told an aide, "I think we just delivered the South to the Republican Party for a long time to come", anticipating a coming backlash from Southern whites against Johnson's Democratic Party.
      8) Now, you have it. There was a flip-flopping of parties. Those Southern pro-slavery racist Democrats people are now in the Republican Party. If you check google maps, you'll see that the once racist Democratic South by in the days are now Republican RED states.

Mr. Burgess Owens just explained everything to me, answering questions I've had for a while. BLM and CRT create even more division between races, just when it was starting to heal (again), and the only ones to benefit from them (and any other movements like them) are the creators of the movements. I was going to research how far back Republican and Democrat Parties went, but now it sounds like President Abraham Lincoln was a Republican. I saw a video by musician Aaron Lewis who said that Democrats were behind everything that's wrong with America, including racism against blacks, and for Mr. Burgess Owens to confirm that is all I need to know. Thank you, Sir. We need healing, not constant division. It takes ALL of us, and that has to include the Dems.

I agree that it will take all of us. But please understand that Burgess Owens stopped his history lesson before 1964. Big changes in the Democratic Party since then, which he has no interest to disclose. Partisan politics turned ugly a number of years ago, and politically skewed media has made it worse. Here's what I think: We're being played by divisive politically skewed media from both sides of the aisle. Said media is adept at convincing us that those from the other party are all either stupid or evil. Consequently we have blind spots when our own brand of media gets something wrong, ignoring or forgiving the error 'for the greater good'. It's almost as if our media is controlled by foreign interests seeking to divide and conquer us. If only we could see through it...

@@100vg It is outright war between the parties, think Rush Limbaugh style politics. Please forgive me for suggesting you're being convinced the Democrat party never changed from being the more racist party. Please read up on the 'Southern Strategy' and Dem defectors like Strom Thurmond to understand the changes over the last 60 years that weren't covered in this video. Or the fact that Obama and Harris are both Dems. I'm not a Democrat, nor do I think they're perfect. Neither side is.
