    Fun facts:
    - Michelle Yeoh and Halle Berry were both winners of beauty pageant in their respective countries:
    Michelle Yeoh: Miss Malaysia 1983
    Halle Berry: Miss USA 1986
    - both actors were Bond's Girl: Yeoh in Tomorrow Never Dies 1997, Berry in Die Another Day 2002 - alongside the same Bond's Pierce Brosnan.
    - both actors played roles in Marvel Cinematic Universe
Yeoh: as Aleta Ogord in the Guardians of the Galaxy vol.2 and as Ying Nan in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Berry: as Ororo Monroe a.k.a Storm in the first X-Men trilogy.
    - both actors made history by becoming the first Asian actress and the first Black actress to win the Academy Award for Actress in Leading Role for EEAAO 2023 and Monster's Ball 2001respectively.

@@Valen-xu2wy I think it's only natural that people point out "the first" in anything that has typically only been won or done by one set or type of people because it's breaking the mold. This happens everywhere, not just at the Oscars. When a 14 year old graduates from college, it's a story, because he's the youngest student to do that at a school for example. It's interesting because it's not been done before. The good thing about a first is, after they've won or accomplished something, in this case, another female leading Asian actress winning in the future, will be normalized as opposed to an anomaly. According to the results of 10,000 voters, she was the best. You certainly don't have to agree, but she was selected from a group which statistically does not include many Asians so I'm not sure you can call bias on that one.

No matter what the "it" is, there will always be someone telling you, you can't do that, or it's too late, or trying to discourage you from your dreams but the people who accomplish anything in this life NEVER listen to those voices. They listen to their own, and it's the reason they do more, see more, and accomplish more because they don't let no get in their way. They take on the struggle and keep pushing and if nothing else in life, they know they have lived one without regret because they actually tried.

Congratulations to Michelle Yeoh. I no longer watch the Oscars but I'm proud of her achievement. I haven't been keeping track of the Oscars in modern years so I'm uncertain...... but t think this makes Michelle Yeoh the first Oriental Asian to win a lead Oscar. Not a supporting actress Oscar but a lead one.

Southeast Asian. She's Malaysian by birth and won Ms. Malaysia 1983 I think. She's 60 years old and still young and beautiful. That's Asians, they aged beautifully.

I'm so happy for her but I really got distracted in the beginning by they saying she doesn't have formal martial training like ??? What? The first time I saw her was in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000). She is so good with actions scenes I was sure she must be martial artist master. This woman keeps blowing my mind!
