      I’m glad to see it wasn’t the father. So many times in shows like this the parent is an easy target. As to using capsaicin on the horses legs, I’m someone who’s father was recommended that as a treatment for his back pain so no, the dad was doing nothing wrong. Just trying to look out for his daughter and gunshot about being accused of things he didn’t do in the past.

    horseriding is actually one of the most dangerous sports there is. I worked at a stable for a while, and horses are very unpredictable, even if they were handraised by humans their entire life. in a space of 2 months, my mom fell off her horse and ended up with major bruises on her back, a masseuse fell off her horse and broke her wrist, wich in turn cost her her job, and a teenage girl got crushed by a horse that fell. her pelvis was shattered and she had to spend months in a wheelchair. she also lost control of her bladder after the incident, forcing her to wear daipers. on top of that she is now terrified of horses.

    this "treatment" for a patient having a seizure is what you should NOT do. Proper first aid: time it. put the person on their side & tilt their head up, make sure they're not hitting their head on anything but DO NOT hold them down. call an ambulance if it's over 5 minutes, or if they have multiple seizures in a row.
    on another note this episode was basically my life growing up.

      You’re 100% correct.
      Move anything harmful away from them
      Only move them if you absolutely have to eg: they’re laying in the middle of the road, in the water etc.
      If you can put something soft under their head.
      Time the seizure as it’s important, I personally don’t know if I’d have the presence of mind to do so.
      Once the seizure is finished put them in the recovery position.
      Don’t try to wake them but do check their breathing.

    “Medication will control this, you’ll lead a completely normal life.” Well as someone who’s had epilepsy since I was 11, tonic clonic seizures since 15, medication is like pot luck. I’m on 4 different medications morning and night and my most recent seizure was yesterday, it takes a lot of trial and error so maybe she’ll be lucky and find the meds that work for her, or she could end up with uncontrolled seizures for over a decade 🤷‍♀️

    I have these types of seizures. Its EXTREMELY tiring but I'm fine after one or two. Had a two hour one the other week. When they first started I used to have them daily due to stress/anxiety. I wish I had a "completely normal life" because of a puesdoseizures it ruined a lot for me like being able to work for long hours, going to school, etc. A lot of doctors/nurses don't believe when you're having this type of seizure either because a lot of them haven't heard of them before. I've had EMTS grab my shoulders and shake me or tell me to stop faking because it's not what a real seizure looks like. I have had staff think I was at the ER for drugs even though the medication they'll give me is the one I'm literally prescribed. This is absolutely not an easy diagnosis to deal with and it's because of doctors and nurses.

    As an upper level trainer and competitor who also takes dextro, I find this episode a bit dramatic. I have narcolepsy and have had 30 plus concussions over a 50 year career but not one seziure. Dextro does not enhance all people like they claim nor have I ever had to take a drug test to compete. Horses are well tested these days but drugs and even sex of people would not give the advantage in such a partnership based sport. You can either ride or you have no aptitude for it. Having a medic on hand would satisfy insurance reqiurements for facilities more than anything.

    • @kf2405
      @kf2405 Před rokem +1

      They’re not claiming that her performance is being enhanced. This episode literally proves that her performance was worsened by the drugs. If your brain isn’t wired to the point where you have to take the drugs, there will be bad side effects. She was only taking them to help with her exhaustion from training for the show
