For reference, the reason people from Trump's so-called nice countries aren't emigrating to the US is because the US is a humanitarian disaster compared to those countries. Why would someone ever move from a country where the salary is high, they have guaranteed legal rights in the workplace, and medical care is either heavily subsidised or free, to a country like the US which has none of those things? People generally move because they want to gain something by moving, but there's nothing to gain by moving from a developed country to the US.

Tolerance, education, rational gun laws, criminal justice systems built around rehabilitation rather than profit-based punishment, harm reduction over criminalization for addictions, preventative rather than reactive healthcare.... the list is long. The root problem in the USA is corporations and extremely rich people run the country while everyone else is just along for the ride.

As a Dane living here in the US I'm actively in the process of moving back home with my American family. Recent SCOTUS decisions and the very real threat of the upcoming election means this place just isn't right for us anymore.
So, why not moving back?! What holds you back? I might be wrong but I will give a shot... Either you are still benefitting from living (and I presume working) in the US, or its been a bit difficult to get your family in Denmark due to paperwork and immigration policies.

Always great to see John Lequizamo. Been a fan for as long as he's been acting. I can't count how many times I watched his HBO special in the late 90's (maybe early 00s).
Why would any of those countries want to come here? They have free Healthcare, tuition, paid family leave, etc. 😮
It's not free, we pay between 800 and 1000 dollars monthly tax, and this only from the small people with 9 to 5s, in Sweden if your yearly salary goes above 50000 usd then you will be taxed 50%, thats far from being free but yes when we have a medical issue we are covered by our tax.

I'm Swiss. Immigrated to the US when I was a kid. Got a Green Card, graduated school and worked. Eventually went back to Switzerland, gave up my Green Card and never went back to the US or plan to. Ironically, I know live on a sailboat, in Cape Verde, Africa. And love it!

The President of the United States doesn’t control inflation.
Not directly no. It's the same thing with the unemployment rate.
No president can wave a magic wand and stop it, especially when it is being driven by corporate price-gouging. However, a president who is dead wrong on economic policy, like the Orange Menace, can most certainly make it worse.
The greed of the giant corporations and the fact they don’t pay their taxes is what is running inflation.
It is President Biden's Administration that was able to lower inflation after Trump racking it up because he has make America's economic worse after Obama.

An interesting trend is that a lot of people who have immigrated later oppose immigration because the new immigrants compete for the same jobs. There often grows a sentiment that the new immigrants are bad and not as civilized. I have seen this a lot in the latino community. Additionally, the community cannot be treated as a monolith. There is a lot of infighting and disagreements among latinos. I have seen racism towards groups only a country or two away. It’s really sad to see politics rip these beautiful communities apart rather than keep them together.
That was always wild to me. Like, I grew up around a lot of Puerto Ricans and Dominicans, and they hated each other. I later lived in a city with a lot of people of Mexican or various Central American descents, and many of them really hated each other. It was crazy.
Later generations don't work the same jobs since they grow up with better education and acculturalization. What happens is that migrant families assimilated adopt the mentality of "Us vs. them". We have inner-racial issues, but it's a different dynamic across the border. And they don't oppose immigration either, but since it was hard for them, they don't want them coming over "illegally" and reaping the benefits without putting in the same kind of hard work.
The reality is that rich people don't like poor people, and the richer you are, the less you like and can condone the poor. The Rich aren't nearly as bothered by rich immigrants as you would think a racist would be, because it's really about socio-economic level, not race.
There's also opposition to ILLEGAL immigration from LEGAL immigrants. The people that followed the rules see people cutting the line AND being given all kinds of freebies. Shocking, but they tend to not like that.

I was surprised that he was so young, since I know he's been around awhile as an actor with an excellent reputation. Looking at him in this video, I was thinking, gee, he must be only in his early 40s. Funny thing is, I think I've thought the same thing and found out his age and was very surprised. Somehow I forgot (probably cuz I'm 63 too lol - gotta work on that memory). ;-)

I live in Texas and am a Democrat. My problem is that the Democrats do nothing to attract the Latino vote. Republicans frequently visit Latino areas even though they do very little in terms of policy to help them.
It's not that.. it just has everything to do with religious philosophies.. uneducated conservatives have more in common with Latin American catholics than either of them would like to admit. And that's sad.
It's because The do-nothing Democrats feel entitled to our vote.
Democrats do nothing to attract the Texas vote. Texas was a blue state when the Democrats here actually represented Texas instead of Washington.

The current inflation rate is a LOT lower than it was. Greedy corporations are just still selling high.
Yeah they don't get that though like this first time my state did a wage increase that cost of rent didn't go up exceeding it lol. Like no Joke every time its like "wages going up 15% to fight inflation!" Land lords "your rent is going up 20% because you can afford it!"
and pointedly, its less than in coparable developed nations. inflation was not just in the us, the supply chain snarls affected all the major countries, and compared to the current inflation in the u.k, France or germany, we are doing quite well. With the obvious caveat that the president really does not affect inflation that much, its what the businesses price things as, if they can get away with a 100% markup, they are going to try it.

Inflation was supposed to be one of the factors to balance high wages, but the corps made sure that they charged excessively without increasing wages, so the mechanism usually used only made it worse for workers.
