- The Quickshot Joypad for NES is a joke. Unresponsive and awkward, is there anything good to say?

What, the Beat-a-Game Button? That's the best NES controller ever, you press the big button, and the games beat!
I get the reference
@@Aurelius_unofficial so do I.
Lol
AVGN
Lol
Well there is one good thing that came out of this...the BEAT-A-GAME BUTTON!
Looks like the remote you use in the hospital to call a nurse.
best description ever!
It calls the nurse you'll need for your hands when you're using this controller.
+Riley Long (Nintendrone42) awkwardcontrollerception
SHUT UP, NURSE!
It reminds me of AVGN's Beat-a-Game button!
Isn't that The Nerd's beat-a-game button?
I guess so
HE LIED TO US!!!!!!
OMG, no wonder the controller looks so familar. IT IS AVGN's beat-a-game button.
If Shane turned the "Worst Controller for the NES" into a beat-a-game controller, maybe he will turn this video into the "Best Controller for the NES".
kenterminatedbygoogle maybe you just got to turn it upside down
Looked back at his video... my mind is blown.
I thought this was the ''Beat a game'' button and was invented by the AVGN XD
Do the Konami code on this thing and you will become Chuck Norris.
No mere mortal can handle that much power
Try inputting that code with mechanical hands designed for warfare!
I always saw that in game stores and then I saw the Nerd use it as a "Beat-A-Game" button, but I never knew what it actually was. Perhaps it was better that way.
I thought that was the "Beat a game button".
You're reviewing the wrong thing, Rerez! Everybody knows that's the Beat-A-Game button!
That controller been shown in AVGN as the "beat a game button" skit..
"But anyway: let's find the Positives."
It looks like the Beat A Game button
+TheDominator1307 Because it is
And that is a positive
Adrian Wood Of everyone at Nintendo being murdered forcing the company out of the gaming industry due to terrorists.
Maybe this was designed by "the national federation of people with claws with a finger sticking out of it" or tnfopwcwafsooi for short.
Brought to you by the same people who designed the PSP.
as an active member of tnfopwcwafsooi i am severely TRIGGERED...

@@gurvmlk . The thumb analog stick is absolutely incredible to say the least. Who would have ever guessed how good it would be for games like GTA
The quick shot was designed for those folks to were used to the last gen controllers, I remember my parents liking it better than the classic pad
Try to imagine playing superman 64 with that lol
THIS LOOKS LIKE A JOB FOR SUPRENAM!
I don't even think super would have the dexterity to use this thing lol
I too like to play Superman 64 on my trusty NES.
lol
Quazz Princeton your wish is bootleggers demand.
"...one hand cradling it and one hand awkwardly fingering it."
I lol at that part way to much.
My sex life summed up lol
The describes me and my ex girlfriend pretty well.
Miles11we really 🤦🏻♂️
Finally my 2-years old Curiosity of Beat-a-game Button is solved. Thank you so much Rerez.
5 good things about the Quickshot Joypad:
1. They got the colour right and they spelled the name of the buttons right
2. It's a wired controller so you don't have to charge it
3. You may get addicted to the squishy noises
4. You can play spinning top (sold separately) on the shield
5. It doesn't hurt as much as the "Stick Station" atari controller when you shove it into your ass
Wow I guess AVGN lied to us that the Beat-A-Game button was useful.
Imagine playing dr jekle and mr Hyde with that
Really enjoy the videos. Great to see a fellow Canadian making videos like you do . It's early but happy Canada day , 150 is something I'm glad I'll be a part of cheers🇨🇦
That's the beat a game button from avgn. I always wondered what the thing was for real, now i know
I had a friend with this POS, and after only one time using it, I always made sure to bring my own NES controller to his house. His aunt who knew nothing about games gave it to him for his b-day, so I can't fault him on that one. Also to mention my controller of choice was the Touch Turbo 360 NES pad as It did not give me NES thumb blisters, and I eventually got very good at using it.
i like how the video is 60fps but the camera isn't
I find 60fps live footage looks strange. We use 60fps in our videos for gameplay only.
oh
I find 60fps footage looks way better
60fps looks gross. Unnatural. It's just off-putting and I am glad people don't use it.
I respect your opinion.
Quickshot Joypad was also on computers at the time.
Teagan they made joysticks too that were just as crappy. 😂
I highly enjoy this series, For reasons such as: OOH, an old NES thing I never heard about. Keep up the good work.
I've watched several of your videos and I've been on the fence on whether you were my cup of tea... but this video was great. Your earnestness made the savage teardown of this poor controller so satisfying to watch.
Nani? You say this is a bad controller? This is the beat-a-game button mate, what will AVGN say?
How could no one afford a second controller? From what I remember the NES came with 2 controllers.
Maybe a dog ate the controller wire? It's not so much about getting a second controller, but rather getting a replacement controller, and gaming was far more expensive back then.
+I'm Nori Or if you buy a used NES that has 1 controller.
@@sushiSlayr 60 bucks for a standard controller is still ludicrously expensive if you ask me.
I remember seeing one of these in a game store a long time ago and just wondering how the hell it was supposed to work.
Yeah, you don’t wanna use this controller for platform games.
But i do say that this controller might be ideal for point & click games such as color dinosaur, win lose or draw, shadowgate and videomation,, because you don’t have to rock with the controller contstandly and you can simulate a mouse experience on a pc.
Now there is likely a nes2usb adaptor along with key2joypad software wich allows you to simulates the mouse,so this controller can be definitely ideal for use as a pc mouse that way.
i saw ashens review a similar thing, just for the 80's/90's PCs. so i know this was gonna be good
Oh that? That’s the beat-a-game button! If you press it, the game it beat!
You know. That looks a lot like that controller James Rolfe used as the Beat-A-Game button. It really does!
Fun fact: There's NES games that require Start and Select to be pressed simultaneously.
Like Airwolf (I think, it was some flying game), where the keys were used for speed up/down and pause being both at once.
I've used one of those before. Takes some getting used to, but it helps if you try to use the D-pad with your *left* hand like on an NES controller.
it looks like the :Beat a game button" that AVGN made
I keep seeing this EVERYWHERE at the retro gaming show I go to
I had a friend that had this, and TONS of other weird controllers too. I always thought it could have been cool, but I was just used to standard formats for the too wild ones he had.
It's one of those remotes to lift and adjust those hospital cots.
There is also an Atari 2600 version of the controller called QuickShot VII Deluxe Joycard Controller.
That final conlusion was amazing lmao
This is how you solve the two player problem ......BRING YOUR OWN CONTROLLER..
impossible if you couldn't afford a console and had to go to a friend's home to play games
I get the feeling going off the select and strat alone, that is made from a repurposed frame from some sort of auio or visual device control
An advice to travel round the globe just to punch an old time friend for a shitty controller they had?
Looks like it was really a traumatizing issue back then, eh?
And again, what the hell? I was shocked when I saw that this channel has less than 100k subs and less than 100k views a year ago and it still persists. Rerez is awesome and deserve at least million subs. It's unfair.
Well the good thing about this controller is that you can now hand it over to trump once he wants to play a game with you in order to show him whose the real boss, hahaha.
I own two of these. I really liked using these when playing Blades of Steel. It isn't the best controller out there, but I like how it feels in my hand
ah good, ive always wondered what the Beat-A-Game button from the AVGN starwars videos was originally.
I couldn't help but laugh at what he said figuring it 😂😂😂
I remember Ashens taking the piss out of the 8-bit computer version of this thing.
I feel compelled to have to comment about the extremely high end camera Shane is using
The Positives: An obscene amount of detail
The Negatives: An obscene amount of detail like i can see the gray coming in on the sides of Shane's head
This controller was originaly designed for ZX Spectrum computer and Amstrad follow-ups, but it was black with D-pad and buttons in red colour and with Kempston/Atari plug instead of NES plug. Still really bad, that didn't change.
Yo, its the Beat-a-Game button! Press the button and the game beats itself!
Have you tried the Dominator master controller for the NES? Has the look of the Advantage but is wireless, has a few extra features, and even has a player 2 port built into the side.
reminds me of the AVGN's beat a game button
also, what game is that he's playing at 0:53 ?
Lol, flashlight has a product called "quick shot"
Simon Danger you mean Fleshlight
Thank you for making another entertaining video!
"We thought intellivision got it right and we thought everyone else thought so too!", the product.
The AVGN Beat-A-Game Button 😂
Yay, I have one of these things! I had one years ago just for kicks but sold it, and then I saw the AVGN using it as his "finish the game" button (he awkwardly holds it upside-down and covers the top part so all you see is the big button-looking d-pad), so when I saw one in a store a year ago I picked it up instantly... and oh god yes this thing is terrible!
Yeah, I see I'm not the only one who noticed, lol!
THAT'S where I know this from!
I think Ashens reviewed a similar controller that was made for use with home computers like the Commodore 64.
"One hand cradling, one hand awkwardly fingering..." Ahh.. Middle school was... a thing that happened.
I had this thing as a kid - it was fucking terrible.
I'd have to say that I actually do have this controller myself!!! I can't quite remember when or where I got it but everything he stated was correct it is a very difficult controller to use. I was fortunate however because I still to this day have my original NES controllers from my Entertainment Pack bundle!!!
Isn't that the AVGN's patented Beat-a-Game Button?
Just found this in my old game bin. I forgot how bad it was. I thought taking it apart and cleaning it but still awful. Now I did find there is space to put some springs on the A/B button that makes the buttons not as squishy. Very simple electronics, just uses a 555 timer to press the buttons fast. Honestly it feels like you must use two hands to use it. In fact it feels like the big thumb controller should be a joystick.
NOTE: It said "Patent pending" But the only patent I could find is USD271220S and it looks nothing like this thing. Funny going down this rabbit hole. The people who invented this as well as Spectravideo, SPECTRAVISION did a bunch of patents about inserting advertisements into software to airplane backseat TV/displays.
Yeah, I only tried it once before I sold it to you, and it was not a fun time. I'm glad that you made this video about it, even if just as a warning to others to never attempt to use this controller. Haha
im pretty sure we had/have one of these. as a kid, i had no idea wtf it was supposed to be. nobody used it, it was just there.
The pad kinda reminds me of the intellivision disc, except that was responsive.
"Most controllers don't sound like that." Sounds like an SNES d-pad, if you ask me.
Hey! That's the Beat-a-Game button!!!
My favorite third party controller was the Ascii clear ProPad for the SNES. I googled it and it had a link come up for "Controllers That Suck." Makes me wonder if anyone absolutely loved the Quickshot. Probably not though.
Ha, it's like an Intellivision controller for the NES.
You know what the overall design reminds me of?
James Bond's key-fob BMW controller in _The World Is Not Enough_.
A video on the main channel in which the word "shit" isn't censored?
Now I've seen it all XD
No way it can be any worse than the Turbo Touch 360.
At least it had the turbo
That'll be a pain to play with that contraption
good god...someone in quickshots r&d must of loved the intellevision
Try playing Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde with that. LOL!
I thinks that is qhat the AVGN used for the Beat a game button.
They made a console version of that POS? I remember it for the British home micro PCs. (yeah, I'm old)
What game is Shane playing at 0:47? It looks like an NES version of the Sega arcade game Thunder Blade.
I had the quickshot joyball controller, I think I may have had two of them. I thought it would help me beat Legendary Wings. LOL
What are you going on about? That's the Beat a Game Button! You hit the big button, and the game's beat! James Rolf himself endorsed it!
You don't know what up, down, left, or right is on any dpad unless they marked it... When you're holding it the right way it does make sense.
It looks like a stop watch. The only guess I can make as to why this controller was designed, is for people who grew up with Intellivision. This controller looks very similar to the Intellivision controller because you hold it vertically with the D-pad on the bottom, and buttons on top.
That's not a controller. That's the Beat-A-Game Button.
Ashens featured this in his joysticks video!
At least dogs and cats can finally play the NES!
can you review the ipega red spider? it's a Bluetooth controller for mobile phones
AVGN's Beat-a-game button.
Couldn't afford a umpteeth controller for the NES console than came with 2 controllers, a Zapper, an NES Advantage, NES Max, Jazz Stick, Jammer Super Stick, Hyper Controller, Hyperstick Variable Super Controller, Power Pad, Roll & Rocker, Zoomer, Zinger, Ultimate Superstick, Gizmo Joystick, Zipper, NES Satellite, NES Four Score, Mother Ship, Bondwell QuickShot Joystick, The Dominator Master Control, Sansui Joycard SSS, U-Force, Turbo Blaster, Flightgrip 2, Phyton 2, Power Glove, Maverick 2, a QuickShot joystick, etc.
I recognize the computer version of this from Ashens.
I personally only know this baby as the beat a game button
Control sticks make me fidget with it a lot
"Awkwardly fingering it"
Wow, I didn't expect an NES controller review to remind me of my first time.
"The Quickshot Joypad for NES is a joke."
No, Rerez. It's not.
Jokes have meaning.
Lol first thing I thought when I seen this it's the beat the game button
Fairly sure that company makes the controllers for electric hospital beds now!
Great shirt!!
So THAT'S what the Beat-A-Game button is.
Looks like an old fashioned stopwatch lol.
I used to have the NES Advantage. Loved that thing.
